Ah, a cunning plan... surely any camel pilot worth his salt would simply break off, maintain altitude and wait for the alb to come back and play ? So my counter would be: as the EA dives left, initiate climbing right turn, when EA climbs right, roll out of turn which, with luck, will put you above and behind target. Quite a bit of luck in my case. RS

WOT (Way Off Topic)..Feb 9, 1991
RamblingSid replied to von Baur's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi Von Baur, sincere condolences. Music helped me: All the best. -
Hmmm, honestly don't know. I'd pay (not much) money to see a rabbit on a bike with an ipad though.

January must be the deadest month of the year

Hi Dej, I don't get Blue Mondays any more...cos I'm retired . Pass me that lotus, will you. All the best. RS -

I hadn't noticed that, heh. Don't change it, very appropriate gallows humour. -
January must be the deadest month of the year
RamblingSid replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi Olham, it's been a shocker lately. Yes, the material damage is severe, but it is the loss of lives that really hits home. I'm with you on the increasing frequency of these "extreme" events. If it continues like this we will indeed be living in interesting times. All the best. -
January must be the deadest month of the year
RamblingSid replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Don't know abt too long, I just wish the floods and bushfires and heatwaves would go away (fat chance ). There is quite a lot to be said in favour of "temporate" climes. And RogerSmith, good luck to you, sir. Hope all goes well. RS -
That's right, Hauksbee, a cooee can carry a fair distance I believe. Useful in the olden days. RS
-
Apologies, Hauksbee, for the colloquialism. "Cooee"= within hailing distance. In terms of OFF I meant staying in touch with the flight - less than approx 700 m/yds away. Hth RS
-
Hi HPW, yes, I'm a pretty awful flyer. But it is much easier now to stay within cooee, has immeasurably improved the sim imo. One little thing (and forgive me if this is not the appropriate thread) to do with Camel engine revs: in level flight at full throttle revs show as 1850, that can't be right can it ? Not for a Clerget anyway. Incidentally, did you see Bletchley's most informative posts abt Camel engine variants over at the Aerodrome ? Thanks again to you and Lohar, the mods have transformed the sim and given a little fortaste of WOFF . RS
-
Thanks very much, gentlemen, I'll seek out the latest version. Cheers RS
-
Hi Lothar, have loaded HPW mods, ENB bloom into jsgme, this includes HPWs FM 2.0 - does it have the empty weight mod you refer to ? Only completed one mission with mods but like very much the improvements, Camel much better above 10,000 now but still struggle to keep up, hence my question (course, this could well be down to my terrible flying). Thank you Lothar and HPW for the mods . RS

Gentlemen, for some reason my TIR5 (latest driver) has stopped working in OFF. I checked CFS3 via the Workshop, TIR worked fine. I tried resetting CFS3 via the workshop, made no difference (grasping at straws). Would a complete deletion/reinstall of CSF3/OFF suffice to fix the problem ? Has been doing some strange things of late - all the squads have vanished from one of the new pilot screens, for example. Or is there another option ? Cheers. (mods: wasn't sure where this should go, please move if appropriate)
-
Suddenly nothing happened (TIR).
RamblingSid replied to RamblingSid's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Hey guys, please ignore this topic. I just read through FAQs/Help over at OFF.com (which I should have done in the first place ) and it seems I will have to do a complete uninstall/reinstall. Nooooo. On the brightside - I'll have a go at loading up OFFBase. Apols for wasting your time. RS -
OT Well, it does have a tank in it so .....
RamblingSid replied to Britisheh's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'm stuffed if I can see how you can park a car in a tank. Or is it like those Russian dolls only with ever tinier cars and tanks ? -
Good lord, Typhoon ! commiserations on a rotten 2012. All the best to you for 2013. RS
-
Hey Lothar, thanks, that sounds very interesting, I'll keep an eye out. But, you know - me and mods, I understand nothing . I am encouraged though. I just don't want to "break" OFF now that I have it working so well. ("Break", I hasten to add, due to my own ignorance and abysmal incompetance) Cheers

I guess, for me, Olham, the AI changes are the most anticipated. I find flying as a No 2 almost completely absorbing and far more challanging than actual combat. But with the current AI it is next to impossible to keep up with the flight. It is something I accept as part of the OFF world. A fix for this alone would be a great improvement from my pov. I think 2013 will be a very good year for all things WOFF.

Merry Christmas, Friends!

Very Merry Christmas all, and best wishes for 2013, The Year Of The WOFF. (please excuse my late absence from these excellent boards). RS -
Who is the oldest (and youngest) OFF'er
RamblingSid replied to JimAttrill's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Slightly older than my teeth. Of course, the injections help and so long as the transfusions are of your actual blood of a virgin, then all should be well. Apart from the shaving, obviously. Pass the port. -
Hello there, Widowmaker, I'm curious all right, but I have seen enough to whet my appetite and I don't want to spoil the delight/suprise when WOFF is unveiled in all its glory. I usually stay away from "WOFFLE' threads now:-) On a slightly different note, memo to Devs: I hope you get some real time off over the holidays. All the best. RS
-
Christmas greetings etc, Lor - still waiting eh. I've given up torturing myself and am just happy with OFF. WOFF will be here eventually. And when WOFF does finally hove into view, I hope I can hope that the AI is fixed such that I can actually keep up with my flight (don't fly as leader)on patrols ? I know you blokes mainly fly as leader, but you should give flying as "wingman" a go. I spend most of my time just trying to keep formation. Bloody awful pilot though. All the best for 2013. RS

Sure is Lonely Up Here
RamblingSid replied to Cody Coyote's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi Red, I did look at the "buttkicker", but in the end (heh)I decided to go with a Tactile Feedback System outfit from ivibe.com. If you are interested in more info I can send you a PM. Olham, apologies, I did not see your post until just now: I believe my rig is not dissimilar to yours excepting the ATI card, no probs at all running the kit. Btw,I am not an employee of the aforementioned ivibe, nor do I have any commercial/financial interests in the company. Kind regards. -
Sure is Lonely Up Here
RamblingSid replied to Cody Coyote's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You misunderstand me, Olham, I'm talking of immersion, not violent and sudden bloody death. Things like engine vibration, G etc can be emulated and do add immeasurably to immersion imo. Of course, you may disagree. I would be interested to hear your reasoning in that case. All the best. -
Is this "new look" permanent?
RamblingSid replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Oh Cmon, Olham. Lay down your burden of good sense and level-headedness. Nothing wrong with a good burst of Panic. For in that we are only emulating our (financial)"betters". Glad to see the boards have returned to a semblance of normality. (insert ironic smiley thing)
