Lou (I responded over at SimHQ too), I gave up trying to map a blip switch to my aged and cranky JS, Doris. In fact half-way through the exercise Doris' throttle just died on me. So I got a Saitek Throttle Quadrant, mapped Mags off/on to one of the rocker switches and Bob's your uncle. Doris still doesn't have a throttle, but everything else works OK including FFB (phew ). Blipping makes formation keeping soooo much easier. Cheers

Chuck Yeagers Air Combat is what got me into simming. Anyone remember that ? Still got the discs somewhere. You have to wonder where sims will be in 10 years time .

Here are my settings (NB change settings for cfs3Config.exe and Combat Flight Simulator 3 and Offmanager.exe): Anisotropic Filtering = 16x Antialiasing Gamma Correction = Off Antialiasing Mode = Overide App settings Antialiasing Setting = 32xCSAA Antialiasing Transparency = 8x (supersample) CUDA GPUs = Use Global Settings (all) Max pre-rendered frames = 1 Multi-display etc = Single display performance mode Power mgt mode = Use Global setting (adaptive) Texture Filtering = On Texture Filtering Neg LOD Bias = Clamp Texture Filter Quality = Performance Texture Filtering - Trilinear optimization = On Threaded optimization = Off Triple buffering = On Texture Filtering - anisotropic optimization = Off Vertical sync = On You might consider lowering a couple of your slider settings to 4: Terrain and Scenery. Great job guys . Your will power is impessive. Have watched many people struggle with weight, it isnt easy. Lou, Tranquillo, you don't give your height, 186lbs over a long frame is pretty lean. I'm 6ft 4in and 190lbs, if ever I'm unlucky enough to be in the hands of doctors they invariably want me to put on a few pounds. Underweight can be as problematic as overweight. Go carefully and good luck with your targets.

Thanks very much, Lou, for the blow by blow, most helpful for an old buffer like me. I downloaded the profile editor per OLPaint's post (cheers m8) so now I just have to grasp the nettle. Nice set-up . (PS actually, the 2 button set up works well, in that it doesn't - if you see what I mean. Because I have had to use buttons on the Lhand side of the js, I have to reach across and under - very tricky in any kind of "situation", and another layer of complexity to deal with .)

Lou, that works really well, thanks so much. The vapour is a great effect and the little spurt of flame just after is the cherry on the icing . I had one slight problem: I couldn't get my js (saitek cyborg evo force) to toggle between mags off and mags on and had to assign two buttons. (Sorry for the noob q, but how do you set up the toggle function for a single button?) I found that if you wait until the backfire (in the crankcase? lack of fuel?), abt the count of five, the engine fires up ok. Wouldn't want to push any further than that. Above for DH2 only. Cheers

Oh lord, don't say that Dej ! I have enough mid-airs as it is . Probably preaching to the converted here, but if anybody is using the tac etc, please give naked OFF a try. More than rudder pedals, more maybe than TiR, it completely transforms the sim imho. I used to think, when I used aids such as labels, that it was because I have dodgy minces and just couldn't see the wily hun. But when I really started looking and learnt to see I found that I could just make them out. If you are embarking on a naked OFF career for the first time just remember that keeping a constant lookout is key. Tbh I do flash lables up now and again, not to spot enemies but to find out where the hell everyone went :yes:. Caveat: I am not suggesting that OFF be flown in he nude, that is a prospect too horrible to contemplate .

I've flown a few DH2 careers. Climbs slowly - do not waste any height advantage you may have. Dives ok but poor zoom. Weak armament - get very close to your target. Difficult to check 6. As other have said, if you overcook a turn you will spin out, too low and you'll spin in. On the other hand, spin recovery is simple enough, provided you have altitude. You can dogfight DIIs etc ok per comments here. Just make sure you stay with your flight. DH2 is a fine a/c but I do wish we had a blip button. Hth

Hi redpiano, I've only seen it in OFF and RoF. But I don't have a very wide experience of computer games/gaming. In OFF I get popping with clouds/trees/buildings, but lately much reduced due to fine-tuning - especially clouds. RoF popping with trees and, I think, sometimes clouds. Never had a prob with N17 rockets, but wasn't there a fix in one of the patches ?

"...tweaking graphics performance can be so addicting..." So true, Hellshade :yes: . I had to stop myself in the end. Going 'round and 'round in ever diminishing. What with Workshop and Config and Nvidia control panel and individual tweaks found in this forum, that's a lot of variables to play with - at least it is for my poor brain. Just on QC: I have recently tried some imaginary scenarios - all triplane dogfights which were a sight to behold. If memory serves I believe that OFF2 QC is much Improved and can deploy increased inumbers of a/c. In which case I can look forward to epic tripe on tripe encounters as well as the main course .
