  3. IL2FB Balaton Campaign

    From the readme...

    This is a totally fictitious campaign involving the Balaton region map and the Player as a German pilot. You'll be flying first the B-239 Buffalo being used as a trainer, then the Bf-109E-4B Jabo fighter bomber. As you will quickly learn, this campaign came solely from my fertile imagination so if you are looking for history, you might try another campaign. Accurate history aside, if you are looking for a 37 mission campaign with varied missions and quick action, you've came to the right place. Ive tried to make each mission different and challenging without making the pilot fly 2 hours to get somewhere, or making the missions so tough you want to quit trying after doing the same mission 12 times.

    This is a BETA release of this campaign. I would very much appreciate ANY feedback at all, positive, negative, contructive, destructive, or otherwise. Please let me know what you think. Thanks...

  4. Blue Guards MiG-19S Skin

    This is the "Blue Guards" skin for the Strike Fighters MiG-19S. While this skin draws on some historical facets, it is basically a fictitious paint job for the MiG. I just wanted a nice skin, that looked authentic for the MiG-19 as there are few for this plane.

  5. AT-6D Texan Yellow Training skin

    Want a little COLOR in SFP1/WOV? This is the "Yellow Training" skin for Bunyaps' AT-6D Texan/Harvard. This is my second attempt at making a skin for SFP1. While this skin draws on some historical facets, it is basically a fictitious paint job for the AT-6D. I just wanted a nice skin, that looked authentic. I adjusted the stock AT-6D decal placement to be more centered and added numbering decals and noseart. It looks good with any nations' markings on it. I also added Wrenchs' notes on adding lights to the Texan/Harvard. Hope ya like it... :)

    Version 1.1 added dirty exhaust and tweaked the colors a bit.

    NOTE: I figured out what the problem was with the prop disappearing after a moment. In the "Generic" skin folder for the AT-6D, select and copy the two files PropDiskFast and PropDiskSlow. Then paste them in the AT-6D folder itself, not in one of the skin folders. Viola! you now have prop.

  9. Pcpilots' Yak-15 YakPack

    This is the "YakPack Camo" skins for the Yak-15 Feather aircraft model for Strike Fighters made by Pasko. These two camo skins were never to my knowledge used on the Yak-15. All I have seen are single color (top view) aircraft like the 3 skins included by Pasko with the model. However, I thought it would be nice to make a couple camo pattern skins. And since this aircraft is really a modified late war propeller Yak, I figured a WW2 late war camo Yak pattern would be a nice place to start. I then also did a green MiG version of the same pattern. So the colors and patterns are authentic. You might consider this a "might have been" paint job if the plane had saw more extensive service and espesially combat in Korea. Which I might add is the install of SFP1 I use this plane in.
    I also included the Yak-3 cockpit done by Kesslebrut. This is closer to the avionics used by a converted piston fighter which the yak-15 was than the A-4 Skyhawk cockpit used previously. I noticed I can also now see my Yak-15s' wings on either side were I couldnt previously with the A-4 'pit. The Yak-3 'pit is used with the Yak-3 model done by Pasko and Kesslebrut. Along with the Yak-3 cockpit, I included the Yak-3_cockpit.ini files.
    UPDATE: Cocpit position tweak to realistic postion thanks to Charles. :)

  10. pcpilot's WW2 pilot photo pack

    Hope you enjoy a little more of a choice in faces. Have fun. This is my pilot photo edition 2, lol. Included are different 40 photos!
    -6 Soviet pilots
    -5 RAF pilots
    -5 USAF pilots
    -12 Japanese pilots
    -8 Luftwaffe pilots
    -2 USMC pilots
    -2 USN pilotspilots are included. These pictures were garnered after a number of hours research online. All but one of them are actual WW2 period pilots, many of them famous in their own country and notorious in their enemy's countries. Many of the story's associated with these pictures were quite compelling and often touching. So while your flying your sim and enjoying the fun of it all, remember the picture of the pilot you now use really was there.

This skin works with the "B" version of the B-25 released by Capun and his "A" Team due to the lettering location on the fuselage side. 18. Lavochkin LA-15 "Fantail" Soviet Green skin

    This is the "Soviet Green" skin for the Lavochkin LA-15 "Fantail" aircraft model for Strike Fighters made by Pasko and Column5. I got tired of nothing more then plain metal so I made it for myself. Decided others might like a change too, so here ya go. I also resized the bmp files to a higher 1024X1024 so their a bit more hirez. This is a fictitious skin using the common Soviet green color used by many of their WW2 aircraft. Hope ya like it...

This is a fictitious skin using the common Soviet green and grey colors used by many of their WW2 aircraft. I also added gunport stains and modified the decals.ini to add the soviet insignia to the fuselage to more accurately reflect actual Soviet practice. By the way, as an aside...try this plane against the F-86 Sabre, makes for a good matchup ingame. Hope ya like it...

  20. Improved skin for Koni FFG

    From the readme...

    This is the "Improved" skin for the Koni fast frigate model for Strike Fighters made by Capun and Mikewhl. This is a semi-historical skin using some of the common Soviet naval colors and lettering. While its name is correct, its number is fictitious as I have been unable to ascertain with certainty the Soviet number for the Delphin. Ive also added weather deck paint, ships' boats are now painted,the main deck is colored like soviet ships, window glass is added, as are the forward weather break for the gun and the windlasses, and a red waterline added.

  21. SF2 Menu screen Pack

    -SF2 Menu screens and icons-
    This pack includes all the menu screens and icons you need to turn SF2, or any version of Strike Fighters into a WW2 Pacific air war install. What it DOES NOT include are campaign or instant action inis, or the icons for the in-game map. I decided this pack was enough as there are already some excellent files of that nature available on CombatAce website. I highly recommend Baltikas' campaigns for a start. Also check out Dfangs' in-flight map icon packs located here... http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=1829
    To install, simply un-pack the menu and flight folder into your SF2 mods located here for WinXP...
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2.
    If You are running Vista or Win7, then this is the File Format.This is where you should find your "Mods" folder.
    <User Name>/Saved Games/ThirdWire/StrikeFighters2 PAW/Menu
    Also, for the initscreen, you need to do this...Go to your main install of the game. Mine is here...C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2 PAW. Place the INITSCREEN.bmp in the Menu folder. Then, go back out of the menu folder and rename your StrikeFighters2.ini to whatever you have called your exe for your PAW install. Mine is StrikeFighters2 PAW.ini. I then opened the ini and added the following line under the [sTARTUP] heading...LoadingScreen=Menu\INITSCREEN.BMP. It should look like this...
    [startup]
    IntroMovieList=
    LoadingScreen=Menu\INITSCREEN.BMP
    StartupScreen=MainScreen

    Keep in mind this isn't all the screens in the pack, just a sample. Hope ya like 'em. These files are released under the CombatAce Freeware Licensing agreement. You are free to modify these files and use them as you wish as long as the files are not used in payware of any kind. If you use them, please remeber to give credit. These files are released to a great community of simmers at CombatAce and SimHq. Have fun and God bless.

    Ver.1.1 Changed file format to jpg. Also added initscreen.

  22. A-1H/J Skyraider Screen Pack

    This is the screen pack for the A-1H/J Skyraider in Strike Fighters 2 by Thirdwire. I have included
    Hangar and loading screens, and a loadout bitmap image. Add the following lines to your A-1J.ini...

    [AircraftData]
    AircraftFullName=A-1J Skyraider
    AircraftShortName=A-1
    AircraftDataFile=A-1J_data.ini
    CockpitDataFile=A-1H_COCKPIT.INI
    HangarScreen=A1_hangar.bmp <------------------------
    LoadingScreen=A1_loading.bmp <------------------------HERE
    LoadoutImage=A1_loadout.bmp <------------------------
    LoadoutFile=A-1J_loadout.ini
    UserList=A-1J_UserList.ini
    AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll

    You will note I have also added a cockpit to this plane. Ive added the A-1H/J Skyraider cockpit By
    CA_Stary available in the CombatAce downloads section for SF2 addon cockpits. I made these screens
    for my own enjoyment but decided why not release them to the community also...I hope you enjoy them
    and they add a little more "life" to your game. God bless. Jeff "pcpilot" Gerald

  23. ****World War Two period music for SF2****

    ****World War Two period music for SF2****

    Ever since I first attempted a WW2 install for SF2 many moons ago, I have strove to make it as much "period" as possible. Of course, the music on each screen was modern and didnt fit in with WW2 in my estimation. I decided to try to locate some music from the era. Well, it wasnt hard at all! My first search located a wonderful plethora of websites and stations that still play and love the era and its music. It was all quite fun and interesting. Out of them all, my favorite has quickly become the VI corps music website located at http://www.6thcorpsmusic.us/. This is only a small part of a website put together by a woman in honor of her father who fought during WW2 in the 6th engineer corps.
    I was able to download a number of songs from this website, my favorite being Glenn Miller, and convert them to .wav format for use in SF2. Install is simple. Just unzip the file into your StrikeFighters2 folder. Let it overwrite your menu folder. For the hangar music, I have included my hangarscreen.ini. As long as you havent extracted yours from your SF2 install for any other purpose, simply do nothing. If you have extrated it for whatever reason, its still simple. Just open the ini in a txt editor and add this...

    BackgroundMusic=HangerMusic.wav

    And there ya have it. Hope you enjoy this music as much as I do. If not, visit the VI corps website and download and convert your own favorites, it was fun! Of course, this is oriented towards U.S. tastes at the time. I'd love to see a German, British, or even Japanese version of menu music come out. The .mpg files can be converted here... http://media.io
    These music files are considered public domain and are released under the CombatAce Freeware Licensing agreement. 24. Solomons campaign

    ***Solomons campaign Readme***

    This is a "quick" and dirty little campaign for those who have made a Pacific war install. I wanted to do more than just single missions so researched how to make a camapign on my own. It was a little frustrating, but also quite rewarding and fun. I espesially liked the research part. Which brings to mind, this is not a strictly historical campaign. The units that are flyable did fight during the camapign but there are tons of details Im sure people could pick apart till the cows come home.

    What you need...

    To start with, the Solomons Version 3 terrain and wrenchs' planes readily available at combatace. You'll need the F4F-4, P-39/P400, P-38F, SBD-3 and SBD-5, F4U-1_TMF, A6M2, D3a Val, and Ki-43IIb packages from Wrench. He has done an OUTSTANDING job breathing new life into these models. Also the Betty G4M2 from armourdave. Add Starys' solomons and phillippines visual updates and wrenchs' pacific ships. I also added Kesselbrut's Pazific_GOP infantry and AAA units. Also look for the ShermanM4A3 and Type95 tanks, I forgot what the name of the pack I found them in but they are found at combatace.

    If you want to add a little more "period" feel to this campaign, add my Menu music and Pacific AirWar menu screens, also found at combatace.

    Just unzip this file into your C:\Users\Jeff\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 PAW folder, (or whatever you named your PAW install.)

    Hope ya like 'em. Please let me know if there are any issues, I have not been able to test as thoroughly as I would like. These files are released under the CombatAce Freeware Licensing agreement. You are free to modify these files and use them as you wish as long as the files are not used in payware of any kind. If you use them, please remember to give credit. These files are released to a great community of simmers at CombatAce and SimHq. Have fun and God bless.
