  1. Fokker D.II

File Name: Fokker D.II File Submitter: Stephen1918 File Submitted: 03 January 2013 File Category: Fokker The Fokker D.II was intended to be a replacement for the Eindeckers. It carried a single machine gun and used wing warping instead of ailerons. Production of the plane was slow and by the time large number were available, it had been outclassed by the Nieuport 11s. However it was used on the Eastern Front until late 1917. I have made three skins for the D.II - a green paint, a two color camo, and a three color camo. I have also incuded a complete set of (ficitious) serial numbers for German planes. I have included my skinning templates for those who wish to make different skins. Credits My thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Fokker D.II. Also, my thanks to Nix who provided the sound file for the Oberursel 100hp engine. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "FokkerD2" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You also need to move the sound file "OberurselUI.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "FokkerD2" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "FokkerD2". Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/FokkerD2 folder into the Decals/FokkerD2 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "OberurselUI.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. Click here to download this file

I think the D.III had ailerons, while the D.II used wing warping. That would mean changing the mesh and re-skinning the wings, so it will take a while. In the meantime, if ojcar wants to make an FM to convert the D.II that would be fine with me.
  3. Fokker D.II

Sorry about the broken compass, I made some changes to the cockpit at the last minute and didn't update the ini file. I have uploaded a corrected version. For those of you who have already downloaded the plane. here is a new ini file with the corrections. Use this to replace the original cockpit.ini. I also increased the head movement, but not as much as 33Lima suggested. From 185 to -185 means you're turning more than 360, which I don't think was possible with a shoulder harness. I only went from 170 to -170. Of course, you can modify the settings to fit your own preferences. FokkerD2CockpitINI.zip

  5. Today I uploaded a new version of the Galicia - Eastern Front terrain. This version includes SpinyNorman's Air Raid Warning Ambulances on all the airfields and fixes a lot of little problems I discovered in the first version. I also changed some of the ini files to make the terrain more compatible with the Eastern Front campaign.
  6. Happy New Year to All

    Happy 2013 everyone!
  7. Galicia Terrain Updated

I'm very interested in all kinds of history. First Eagles is a good way for me to satisfy my interest in WWI. The 3D models on my website were made before I was introduced to First Eagles. The file sizes are way too big for the game. Reducing the file size is so time consuming that it's almost easier to make a plane from scratch. I've converted a few and I'll probably convert more in time, but not yet...
  8. How about 10RNAS Triplanes

    Great work! Thanks Quack!
  9. Merry Christmas!

Thank you Quack! Happy Holidays to all my friends at Combat Ace!
  10. I've been working (slowly) on the Eastern Front campaign. I made some field artillery for the Russians and Austrians. Then I made some for the other forces as well. I have uploaded 8 field guns, which are based pretty heavily on the AA guns I made last summer. Each has a two man crew and is positioned behind a log and earth barricade. There are guns for - Austria, Russia, Germany, Italy, France, Britain, America, and Turkey. The guns act like tanks (with no movement) so they should show up in Army Co-operation missions. They can also be placed manually into campaigns and into the Target.ini of terrains.
  11. I have uploaded the Albatros D.II. The download includes an early version with the radiators on the side, and a late version with the radiator in the upper wing. The skins for both versions are interchangeable. I included two skins and a set of personal marking decals for each plane. My thanks to ojcar for making the FM and to Nix for his engine sound file.
  12. Albatros D.II posted

I've uploaded a new version of the Albatros D.II. This one incorporates ojcar's improved FM. I have played a little with the fuselage, but I couldn't do much without having to re-skin the fuselage or re-rig the whole plane. I trimmed the width a centimeter or two between the pilot and the tail. I also played with the skin for the gun. It's an improvement, but the end of the gun sleeve still shows through the sides a little bit.
  13. Albatros D.II posted

I have ojcar's hotfix FM. I'm getting ready to upload a new version of the Albatros D.II. I've been working on the gun skins to resolve the issue that 33Lima pointed out. I've made some improvement, but it's still there sometimes. I'm using a .tga file to make the holes in the gun sleeve and the transparency messes up in some lighting, I can't get rid of it completely. Before I upload the revision, has anyone come across any other issues I should look at?
  14. Albatros D.II posted

First, thanks for all the good comments. I focusing on getting new planes for the Eastern Front campaigns, then I'll go back to making other planes, like the BE2c, or e. I have quite a few planes on my to-do list and I'll get to them all sooner or later. Second, I've been trying to recreate the take off problems that Quack reported. I've been having good take offs, even with the AI flying, and even in Hard mode. But I notice that the plane leaves the ground quite steeply, then levels off a bit, then resumes climbing. I wonder if the plane is stalling under certain conditions and noses into the ground. I've been playing with the [AIData] Pitch settings, but nothing to report yet.
  15. File Name: Albatros D.II - 2 pack File Submitter: Stephen1918 File Submitted: 04 November 2012 File Category: Albatros Note - This is a complete revision with new LODs, new skins, and new hangar and loading screens. I recommend you delete the older version and replace it with this one. The Albatros D.II was identical to the D.I, except that the top wing was mounted lower and farther forward to improve visibility. The fuselage, engine, and guns were the same. Early models had two radiators low on either side of the fuselage, later models had the radiator mounted in the upper wing. I have created both versions of the D.II. I put both radiators on the skins so the same skin can be used for both versions. The download includes two skins, a light camo and a dark camo, and a full set of personal markings for each plane. I have included my skinning templates for those who wish to make different skins. Credits My thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Albatros D.II. My thanks also to Nix for making the sound file for the Mercedes 160hp engine. Installation Instructions The two versions can be installed separately or both together. For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create new folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late". Move the folders named "D" from the Aircraft/AlbatrosD2 folders into the corresponding Decals/AlbatrosD2 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. Click here to download this file
  16. Field Guns for First Eagles

Geezer, Your models are great. It would be great to see some of them uploaded for First Eagles. The MS BB looks like it would be a fun plane to fly, and the machine gunners would be good to have too. Did you figure out how to post pictures in the Forum? At the bottom of the screen there's a button for "More Reply Options." That screen has a way to attach images.
  17. Field Guns for First Eagles

I'm planning on both an early Albatros D.II with the radiators on the side of the fuselage and a later version with the radiator in the upper wing. It's going to take me quite a while to finish these, I got a promotion and real life has been a lot busier than it was. But I am working on FE projects when I can...
  18. russian civil war ?

Gepard, The Baltic terrain would be a great addition to FE. There was a German offensive in that area in late 1917, so it could be the basis of a second eastern front. And it was the scene of fighting during the Russian Civil Wars, so it could be used there too.
  19. Field Guns for First Eagles

No, I'm not planning to make any other ground objects in the near future. I need to get back to planes. I'm working on an Albatros D.II and a Fokker D.II. And I'm correcting some mistakes in the Eastern Front campaign.
  20. File Name: Field Guns for First Eagles File Submitter: Stephen1918 File Submitted: 23 October 2012 File Category: First Eagles Object Mods In World War I, field guns were light artillery weapons used for infantry support on the battlefield. The barrel could be elevated using a mechanism on the carriage, but the entire gun had to be turned to aim it. I have created eight new field guns for First Eagles, each with a two man crew behind a small log and earth barricade. This download includes - a Russian Putilov 76.2mm, and Austrian Krupp 77mm, A German Krupp 77mm, an Italian Déport 77mm, a French 75mm, a British 75mm, an American 75mm, and a Turkish Krupp 77mm. The field guns take the role of Tank in First Eagles so they will appear on the battlefield during Army Co-operation missions. All the guns use the stock 75mm gun data from First Eagles. Installation Instructions You can install the guns individually or all at once. Unzip the file and move the folders you want into the FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObjects folder. Destroyed versions of all the guns use the same skin as the AAA guns. If you don't already have it, you must also copy the file "DestroyedAAA.bmp" into the FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObjects folder. The file must be placed in root level of the GroundObjects folder (not inside any other folders.) Click here to download this file

  22. Hansa-Brandenburg C.I Hex Camo

Nice work Quack! I look forward to using these.
  23. russian civil war ?

I've been thinking of the post WWI fighting. Two of my planes have skins for two of the nations that emerged from WWI. The Anatra C.I has a Yugoslav skin, and the Lloyd C.II has an early Polish skin. I started making insignia decals for Ukraine, Lithuania, and Czechoslovakia, but I didn't do much with them. After WWI, a lot of the early planes were put back into service, so you see the early C series of planes coming back. And the Allies sent planes to the new nations in eastern Europe, so you see Ansaldos, Fokkers, and Camels fighting each other. It would be interesting to have some post war campaigns.
  24. These skins look great! I'll try the custom graphics settings.
  25. Gambit, I prefer decals myself because I run in medium graphics mode most of the time, and the decals look better. But I agree, setting the decals is a LOT of trial and error. You are welcome to use the tail numbers. You can even copy them into your skin if you want so people who don't have my plane will still be able to use them.
