  1. Early skin for Phoenix D.II

Beautiful. Thank you for another great skin!

Tanks did not appear on the battlefield until mid 1917 and were used mostly on the Western Front. But cars and trucks with steel plating and machine guns were used from the beginning of the war and were used in large numbers on all fronts. I have made a set of five armored cars which can be used to replace the tanks in Army Co-operation missions. The tanks in First Eagles have a start date of 5/1917, these armored cars have a start date of 5/1914, so they will automatically replace the tanks in missions dated 1916 or before. This download includes: A British Rolls Royce, built on a Silver Ghost car chassis and armed with a Vickers Machine Gun in the turret. If you've seen the movie "Lawrence of Arabia," this is the car they used in some of the battle sequences. A German Ehrhardt, with two Maxim Machine Guns in the turret. These were used mostly on the Eastern Front. A French Peugeot, with a Hotchkiss Machine Gun in the Turret. Peugeots didn't have turrets until very late in the war, but I thought this looked better than an open truck, and it was easier to build. An Italian Lancia, with two Fiat-Revelli Machine Guns in the turret. The rails on the front were for ripping up barbed wire. A Russian Putilov, built on a British Austin truck chassis, with Vickers Machine Guns in two turrets. The steel trough around the gun and the multiple turrets are fairly typical of Russian armored vehicles. I have included destroyed versions of all the trucks. They explode and burn quite nicely. Installation Instructions Unzip the file and drag the five armored car folders and the file named "DestroyedArmoredCar.bmp" into your FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObject folder. All the destroyed vehicles use the same skin and the BMP file must be in root level of the GroundObject folder.
  3. Ojcar recommended this late-war German fighter/ground attack plane. It has a 160hp water cooled 6 cylinder engine capable of speeds up to 165 kph. It carries a synchronized Spandau in the fuselage and has a Parabellum on a ring mount for the observer. There is a rack of 10 stick grenades on the port side - the grenades will drop one by one. This is about half done, I'm hoping to be finished by Christmas. The real world is keeping me busy, but I'm hoping...
  4. Soviet-Polish War addon?

The Galicia2 (Eastern Front) map would work for the southern part of the conflict. The city of Lemberg was renamed Lwow (today it is named Lviv). The Galicia2 map uses Austro-Hungarian names for the most part, most cities in the region also have Polish and/or Ukrainian names. The interesting thing about the Polish-Bolshevik war is that we would be able to have dogfights with the same planes - Fokker D.VII vs Fokker D.VII - Nieuport 17 vs Nieuport 17 - etc. I found some profiles here: http://worldatwar.net/chandelle/v2/v2n2/whitpole.html and here: http://worldatwar.net/chandelle/v2/v2n1/redfighter.html
  5. I have uploaded the Halberstadt CL.II (still awaiting administrator approval.) The download includes a hex camo skin, some decals, a fully functional cockpit, and a loadout for the grenades. My skinning templates are included. The Halberstadt CL.II was used in large numbers on the Western Front during the last year of the war. It was originally intended to be an escort for reconnaissance planes, but its speed and maneuverability made it good fighter. It was also used extensively as a ground support plane. My thanks to Ojcar for making the FM and for making some improvements to the guns. My thanks also to Nixou for making the sound for the Mercades D.III engine.

Nice skin! Is that a three color camo, or are my eyes playing tricks? What terrain is that?
  7. View File Halberstadt CL.II The Halberstadt CL.II was a German, 2 seat fighter/escort plane. The CL.II was designed to be an escort for reconnaissance flights. Its excellent maneuverability made it a match for single seat fighters and its field of fire made it an excellent ground attack plane. It entered service in August 1917 and was used in large numbers until the end of the war. The Halberstadt CL.II had a plywood fuselage and was powered by a six-cylinder Mercedes D.III engine. It had a 7.92mm Spandau machine gun in the front fuselage for the pilot and a 7.92mm Parabellum gun on a ring mount for the observer. It could also carry a light bomb load. My version has a rack for 10 stick grenades mounted on the fuselage. My download includes a hex camo skin, appropriate decals, and a fully functional cockpit. My skinning templates are included with the download. I have included a sound file for the Mercedes D.III engine. The same sound has been used with other planes and you may already have it installed. I have included the sound file with the download in case you don't have it. Credits My thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Halberstadt CL.II and for making improvements to the guns. My thanks to Nixou for making the sound file for the Mercedes engine many years ago. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "HalberstadtCL2" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. If you don't already have it, move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" from my "Sounds" into your "Sounds" folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "HalberstadtCL2" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "HalberstadtCL2." Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/HalberstadtCL2 folder into the Decals/HalberstadtCL2 folder you just made. If you don't already have it, move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" from my "Sounds" into your "Sounds" folder. If you don't have a Sounds folder, you can make one. 9. WIP - Halberstadt CL.II

I should point out that in addition to his suggestions, Ojcar has done a lot of work for all my planes. He's made all the FMs for my planes, he's also corrected problems and made improvements for most of the things I've done for First Eagles. It seems like he only gets one line in the Read Me file each time, he deserves a lot more credit. Concerning the Sopwith Triplane - I need to finish the Halberstadt first, then I'll look at the Tripe again.
  10. WIP - Halberstadt CL.II

That's it. Geezer posted several screen shots starting a little more than a year ago. His is actually farther along than mine is.
  11. WIP - Halberstadt CL.II

Thanks for noticing. The grenades are stock weapons in FE. I spent a couple hours tweaking the weapons stations and the model to get them to line up so nicely. I actually started a Tripe at one point, but then Geezer showed screen caps of one he was working on, so I backed off.

Will the parachute be included in your update?
  13. I have some planes started for the Spanish Civil War. They're all to the point where the fun part is done, finishing them will just be tedious. I'll finish them if anyone is interested, but it will take some time.
  14. Armchair aces over Italy

I'm enjoying the new Armchair Aces over Italy campaigns. It took me a while to get my Italian Front install sorted out - mostly by adding planes and skins. I'm using FE1 and haven't encountered any problems, I didn't have to do any editing at all so far. (The nice thing about FE is - even if you don't have all the planes, the campaigns will still launch, you just won't be able to select some squadrons in the menu screen.)
Nice variety of planes and missions. Plays well in my install of FE1 with no editing.
  15. FE Crowd

Russouk - sorry, I didn't see this the first time... In the SF1 download area you have a Messerschmidt Bf109 and a DH.82 Tiger Moth. Both were used in the Spanish Civil War. FE versions of these would be welcome here. Several versions of the BF109 were used by the Condor Legion (German troops fighting for the rebel side.) there is some good info here - http://bioold.science.ku.dk/drnash/model/Spain/bf109.html The Tiger Moth was used by both sides. It was unarmed and used as a trainer, but may have also been used for light bombing runs. I have a cockpit for the Tiger Moth, if you want it, send me a PM. Ojcar posted this link some time ago for other planes used in SCW - http://bioold.science.ku.dk/drnash/model/Spain/did.html
  16. FE2 - Toggle Landing Gear

In the Heinkel He.51 download, I included a text file with detailed instructions for this. My instructions were given to me by Ojcar and add - landing gear, wheel brakes, bomb bay doors, flaps, and jettison the fuel tank. They were tested in both FE1 and FE2. InstructionsForFuelTank_Readme.txt
  17. FE Crowd

Nope. jpegs only work in FE2. bmps will work in both. If you do upload planes with jpeg skins, please identify them as FE2 only.
  18. I have uploaded a new version of the Heinkel He.51 (administrator approval still pending.) The new version is identical in every way to the old one, but it includes a gun sight. Ojcar has made the necessary changes to the Weapon Stations and Loadout to attach the gun sight which came with Emld's Neiuport 24 Lewis. I have included the gun sight with the download in case you don't already have it.
  19. FE Crowd

Welcome Russouk! I hope you'll make First Eagles versions of some of your planes, especially those used in the Spanish Civil War. (Many of us here are still using the first generation game (FE1) so planes with bmp skins would be more preferred.)
  20. Heinkel He.51 revised

It looks as if the cockpit is not aligned correctly with the fuselage.
  21. View File Spanish Civil War, Airfield Vehicles Three vehicles which modders can add to airfields using the target.ini. I have included the data for the types.ini in the download. Ambulance - based on the 1932 Ford Model A panel truck. Starter Truck - based on the Soviet AS-1 starter truck, which was a Soviet built version of the Ford Model A. Crash Response Truck - loosely based on a variety of WW2 era RAF crash trucks. Each truck has a high and low poly LOD as well as a destroyed version. I have organized everything into folders for convenience, but you'll need to take them out of the folders when you install them.
