The year between patch 1 and patch 2 was the worst. Everyone was still learning the game, and there were admittedly quite a few problems that needed to be addressed, but the number and quality of mods was really ramping up. Still, a certain vocal group of crumudgeons persisted in coming around SimHQ and talking smack. Of course, in true SimHQ fashion this was allowed to go on at the expense of the people who were there trying to enjoy the game. The most infuriating refrain was "this sime will die, LOMAC will be uber" that we heard a lot of, and it feels great to look back and see how things turned out exactly the opposite. Being absolutely and overwhelmingly vindicated sure feels good! -

I could go into so much depth on this, but in the spirit of the anneversiary I will not. Suffice to say that I have met soooo many characters on the various forums, and developed my own bizarre internet personality. -
The Titan known as USAFBLTDAN was a jealous and vengful creature who coveted Bertha, the wife of another Titan who was also his sister. He persuaded the evil sorceror Fubarrista_128 to create a love potion so that he might seduce Bertha. One night he crept into her bedroom and slipped the potion into her wine, whereupon she sipped it and fell in love with USAFBLTDAN. A thunderous orgy of lust ensued, and as the behemoth's bodies crashed into each other repeatedly, it was said that thunder was invented. The get of this duplicitous union was known as CombatASS, or CombatACE in the Latin translation.

While we are waiting for this plane...you should all read Voodoo Warriors by Nigel Walpole. A must-have for every aviation library. -

LOL, now you want to hide and say you "wanted to see the reaction." No one buys your crap, you were dead serious and dense as hell in the locked thread.

Exactly. Calling it a mistake is a way to mitigate the responsibility born by the people who made the decision. Its essentially a political copout in the same way President Clinton copped out and said aw shucks I sure made a mistake when I didn't take bin laden when the Sudan offered him up, when in fact it was a political calculation that took into full account the threat he posed. Its not so much a matter of logic as it is a matter of coming to terms with reality. The people who took the asbestos out of the WTC didn't amke a mistake, they made a fully informed decision that put politics (in this case, envirnmentalism and hypochondria) before the saftey of every person that ever worked in the towers. Why do I bring up the asbestos issue? Because it forshadows the fully informed decisions--not mistakes--made by people such as Jamie Gurelic, President Clinton, and others whose actions facilitated the attacks.

Yes, it does. You can't admit to murdering a person with premeditation and call it an accident at the same time. Just as you can't make a decision with full knowledge of the facts to not fireproof a building and then claim you made a mistake after the building burns. It wasn't a mistake, it was a calculated and intentional act. But then, I don't expect conspiracy theorists to have any more precision in their use of words than in their research.
-
Bullsh*t. An intentional mistake is not a mistake by definition. Now I see why you are on Colbert's list.

There is a difference between a mistake or miscalculation and doing something stupid in the full knowledge of its consequences. Sorry thats not "semantics." By using the term "construction fault" you are giving cover to some people who bear a degree of responsibility for what happened. Just like the 9/11 Comission gave cover to a lot of people who bear the responsibility for not apprehending ObL in the 1990s.
