SuperHornets/Four Corners Story
column5 replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
OK, but none of that changes the fact that both aircraft would have been superior. Lockheed would have sold some more F-16s. ;) -
SuperHornets/Four Corners Story

Block 60+ F-16s would have been a better choice IMO. F-15Es would have been better. They didn't have to buy Eurofighters or F-22s. Virtually all 3rd generation contemporaries of the Supa Hornet are superior in every respect. -

I was unaware Australia had decided to by Supa Hornets. Poor choice when you consider all that's available in the fighter market these days. -

That's the current plan, but it won't be released before the next patch for WOE in any case. -
A-7 Corsair II external fuel
column5 replied to jazz5150's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The loadout is correct insofar as the A-7 can and frequenly did carry tanks on the inboard pylons. Tanks on the outboard pylons were generally only carried for tanking ops or ferry flights. An A-7 pilot has told me that a single tank on one of the inboard pylons was a common configuration, but the lack of trim would make flying with the unbalanced load frustrating. Personally, I take the tanks out of the default loadouts for the A-7. It has enough internal fuel to fly anywhere and back on these 60% scale maps in SF games. -

Commercial Add-ons?
column5 replied to Major Lee's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I wasn't on the Mirage Factory F-16 project, but as a member of the team as whole I can say that we strive for perfection while at the same time recognizing that perfection is unattainable. We are happy to put out mods that reflect the best work we can possibly do, and we don't mind constructive criticism such as you have offered. If you could give us some concrete example of the problem, we will look into it. We don't shy away from criticism because we are always looking to improve. So basically, feel free to post comments like you did, but it always helps to try and illustrate your point with screenshots, pictures, or other data. -
Help with NATO fighters for WOE

Commercial Add-ons?
column5 replied to Major Lee's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I would potentially pay for any high-quality mod as long as the price was reasonable. I think that the biggest opportunity for payware mods is in the area of new maps. With notable exceptions such as DBS, there are very few high-quality maps available for the game that include custom tiles, good city and target layouts, etc. -
Sure thing, I'll send it when I get home tonight.

There will be an F/A-18D in the near future. -
It won't accept WOE.exe as the game path.

OK, I got it to run. For some reason, it was downloading as a .zip file. I changed the extension to .jar and it works. Problem is, I purposefully added a numbering error to one of my campaign files, and it failed to find it.
-
Doesn't seem to want to work with WOE... I installed the latest JRE...but how do I run the java app?
-
Anything would be great. When there are over 100 squadrons in a campaign, and you add one up in the friendly section, it takes f o r e v e r to renumber all the entries.

extractor tool
column5 replied to Aeroscout's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Works fine for me under Vista. Aeroscout, you'll use the tool to open the .cat file for the terrain you want to modify and extract the terrain's data ini. Then you can make the changes specified in my Vista post to prevent the CTD on pressing ESC. -
See that's the problem with Batman comics. They let him build all of these impossible devices and let him cook up drugs with no scientific basis, whereas its established scientific fact that exposure to our yellow sun gives Kryptonians extraordinary powers. So we are really talking about fact (Superman) versus fantasy (Batman).

My thoughts exactly.

If he dumped Lois he could have Wonder Woman.
