Yeah but the thing about the iPod...and I say this having owned many other MP3 players...is that it is just so easy to use. The interface and iTunes integration are perfect. And I don't buy anything from iTunes, I just use it to rip my CDs and load the iPod. It does what it does perfectly.

Been really pleased with the PS3 in the short time I've owned it. replaces my DVD player and D-Link media center (which was zapped months ago in a storn) and gives me Blu-Ray and game console capability I did not have previously.

The 'fro was given to him by the Archangel Steve and is the source of his singing prowess. Notice that when he lost the 'fro sometime in the 80s, his poweres declined to a mere trifle. -

Its Neil Diamond's creedo. -
They'll come down. Best Buy had one for $299 at Christmas. Next Christmas a $199 player is guaranteed, maybe even $149.

The only thing an Internet politics thread is good for is to attack and destroy your enemies. Crush them, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women. -
F/A-18 with Working HUD and CCIP
column5 replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The one on my site does not have CCIP. We have a version 2.0 in the works that will, but it will not be released until we see what avionics updates will be in the next patch. That means that when beta testers get WOI, we will make a decision on when to release. -
I hope the F-22 is at our next local airshow.

His 'fro is a national treasure. I hear they have it on display in Vegas. -
Here is the situation. 1. I have decided to get a Blu-Ray player to go with my new TV. 2. PS3 40GB bundle with Spiderman 3 movie costs only $100 more than a Sony Blu-Ray player. 3. I have not seriously played a console since the Super NES, though I did briefly have a GameCube, which I rarely played. So, the question is, is the PS3 worth spending a little more for? How are the games? I don't like Japanese-style games like Final Fantasy or Heavenly Sword. I think I would be interested in driving games like GT5 and of course mayhem simulators like GTAIV. That Drake's Fortune game looks interesting too. I have a PC to play FPS style games on. What do you guys reccomend?

And if you are really into the game, the Razbam Skyraider offers a major upgrade over the free one. It is superior in all respects. -
Next thing. The UPnP client support works like a champ. Got Twonky Media installed on my PC and connected with the PS3. Can now stream my MP3 library (and videos if I had any) to the PS3. The best aprt is the trippy-cool 3D Earth from space visualization thing you can play while music is streaming. Hell of cool and would be killer on a big 1080p set with a fat J lit up playing the soundtrack to Flash Gordon.

One thing I just learned. The 40GB PS3 will not play PS2 games. Seems kind of silly. I thought I might be able to pick up some of the old Grand Theft Auto games but alas I will not be able to. Not a huge deal but if anyone else is considering a PS3, keep that in mind. You need to 80GB model for PS2 emulation.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Well I picked up a PS3. So far i'm pretty happy with it. It came with Spiderman 3 BD and I got Drake's Fortune so I could check out a game. My thoughts in no particular order: 1. The console is easy to set up and get going. Took me about 15 minutes, and most of that was digging around behind my receiver. 2. BD is a great looking format. I only have a 720p TV but the improvement over DVD is apparant. 3. Drake's Fortune is a great looking game, and fun. Was up until 2 AM this morning. 4. Downloaded Gran Turismo HD Concept, the demo for GT5. Haven't played yet but loaded it and watched the demo movies. Stunning. 5. The fan is kind of loud...only noticeable when its quiet in the room but then its a little intrusive. Annoying enough to get up and turn the thing off. So I'm enjoying it. Thanks for all the advice!

My concern is that PS3 was criticised a lot when it was released. Of course, a lot of that was probably from fanboys of other consoles, and they have had over a year to work on firmware.
-
That's the way I am leaning. I get the BD player and for basically $100 extra a nice game console. I have some Best Buy gift cards so the cost winds up being pretty low.

Has Sony dealt a decisive blow to HD DVD?
column5 replied to Revvin's topic in Hardware/Software Chat
The announcement by WB to support BD exclusively seals it for me. I think Sony is going to win this one. And I guess they deserve it...they have a long history of producing better formats that never become standards...Beta, MiniDisc, SACD... -

I won't argue that point, but really, the IAF has overwhelming superiority in number of combat aircraft, correct? Just a wild guess but I'd estimate at least 4 to 1, maybe greater? Add to that numeric and qualitative superiority in ground and naval forces. Actually if I was a paranoid, irrational, xenophobic Paki I would probably feel threatened.
