Lockheed to supply 18 F-16s to Pakistan
column5 replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Agreed...on top of everything else it would be bad for them to fall into the Russian sphere of influence. -

Tell you what, I will try to write a tutorial on this and post it here tonight (assuming time permits). Its very easy to set up but requires a few steps. Also, you can't toggle any animation that the modeller did not build into the aircraft, so you are at the mercy of what the modeler provided. -

Yep, whatever key was mapped to that animation...you pressed it! -

I'd be interested to hear your reasoning, becasue I am not understanding this point of view. The facts as I see them: We need to maintain Musharraf in power at least unitl another, better option becomes available. You do realize that Bhutto was running for the Pakistani Parliament, and not the Presidency, right? In other words, she was not running against Musharraf directly so it was not an either/or proposition. Failure to support Musharraf right now would be the equivalent of our failure to properly back the Shah during the Carter administration, so I guess I am saying that I agree with you that we need to prevent Pakistan falling to the islamofascists, but in order to do that we have to strongly back Musharraf right now, and work behind the scenes to help bring about real elections at a future date. I don't like Pakistan or Musharraf any more than you do, I'm just suggesting that we be very pragmatic at this critical time. -

New strike fighter 2 in 2008 ?

I'm with spark. A little spit and polish on the game would be good at this point, five years into it. I can't imagine that programming a means to keep track of and display a pilot's career would take that long. -

It only became a mistake when we decided to pursue policies that pulled the rug out from under him and his government. -

Similar to the bru-ha-ha surrounding the restoration of the Enola Gay I suppose. Can't let anyone know that we were ever successful at anything. -

Yep, and like the A-5 the Thud's bomb bay was also intended for a nuclear weapon. -
which is your favourite cockpit?
column5 replied to centrinoe's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
My personal favorite is BPAo's Hornet pit. A close second is the F-106 pit. -

Well we were not able to offer up any new Crusaders for Christmas, but I just had some excellent news. Back on Saturday I was finally able to get in touch with Pedro, who modeled the original F-8s and cockpits. Not only is he very supportive of our upgrade project, but he sent me the Max files for all of the cockpits. This will reduce the time needed to finish our version 2.0 Crusaders immensely! So we owe Pedro a lot! Drink something in his honor tonight! -
New strike fighter 2 in 2008 ?
column5 replied to DamonSchumi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
TK just doesn't do that. One of the WOE producers saw my site and contacted me about what add-ons I thought were best...he wanted to either include some with the game, or put a selection of mods up on an official WOE website. I actually had a couple of phone conversations with him about it. Obviously nothing ever came of it. Regarding the F-105...AD's is great, no question, but if you compare it to the one in WOV you will find that they both have their own flaws. I would not put one above the other. -

If they did, wouldn't it take away from the game's "character"? -

That man was probably a moderate, and a great compromiser. LOL, sorry, can't help it sometimes. But yeah, the F-102 was another example of a fighter with a built-in unguided rocket capability that was quickly superseded. -

The difference between real life and the game is that the pilot used the radar to place the aircraft into a firing position, and was given a shoot cue when he was in the best position to score a hit. Even so, they were an unreliable and inefficient method to shoot down a bomber. But you have to put it in the context of the times--it was felt that there was an immediate need for large numbers of interceptors to defend against Soviet bombers, and guided missile technology was still years from being mature enough to deploy. Hence firing salvos of unguided rockets, rockets with nuclear warheads, etc. -
Winning. Of course we won't know until we do Iran, but all the indicators are that the F-22 will achieve and maintain air dominance immediately. Even the US Navy is banking on this with their decision not to deploy any true fighter aircraft on their carriers.

That is possible, but the fact that the Sidewinder was entering service about the same time as the F-8, sealed the rocket pack's fate, excuse the pun.
