Nice to see that again. Gotta get the DVD. I always loved the very brief scene, before the camel(?) takes out the power supply and non~chalantly tilts its head and fires a quick burst that swats down one of the little "luke" mini fighters (I suppose).

What was the D: drive? When installing Windows, its best to have connected only the one internal hard drive that Windows will be installed to. I've read that not doing this can mess up how Windows sees hard drive or hard drive partition letter naming. I assume its best to also disconnect any external USB hard drives before running Windows setup. No. Don't depend on just one USB external hard drive per backup. I was rapping with a local computer builder today and he told me USB hard drives get corrupted alot (or something). I have no idea since I never mess with them. I do know that I won't tolerate any 3rd Party consumer level PCB board, found in external drive enclosures, between my internal (ie...normal) hard drive and *multiple* independently backed up to internal hard drives. The List colmack ...if I read right... Hard drive crash One USB hard drive backup failed No further backup GMagos Lost one backup DVD No further backup eraser_tr Hard drive crash No backup <-- lolz _tr, external server Bongodriver Hard drive crash No Backup 76.IAP-Blackbird Deleted game No backup Okay who's next?

Comparison of Aircraft Wing Loadings
Lexx_Luthor replied to column5's topic in Military and General Aviation
Streak, be happy you are not a combat flight TheSims developer. I don't think you ever claimed F-4 > F-14, so could alot of those good derby results be from years, decades, of institutional experience with the F-4? Also, after Vietnam there were some good improvements to F-4 most notably I can think of now is improved cockpit workload. - Most important regarding F-14, the F-4 had the advantage of "2 weeks" (sorry that's my internal programming can't help it) -
One of the most amazing fleet of little ships and boats ever assembled. I saw a vid the other day of Maddox new BoB And Beyond sim (what I call it) and it got me started thinking of WW2 again. But Dunkirk didn't cross my mind. Thanks for the reminder.

WAIT UP FELLAS, FC especially... Your airplanes should not turn black as they gain altitude on a sunny day. Think about it. TK fluffed the altitude object lighting. You can fix it at home. In Enviro change all the altitude Modifier variables to 1.0. I think. Since that is SF 2008 and beyond and I'm doing SF 2006 I am going from volatile memory here. SunLightModifiler=1 AmbientModifiler=1 SpecularModifiler=1 There was an issue with spelling Modifier/Modifiler in original PATCH 2008. I think TK patched that later to use correct spelling now. I don't know anymore. Experiment to Taste. Your airplanes should not turn dark, should not change in specular, and the overall object/terrain ambient light should not change. -
Well I finally broke down and did it.........

I first pre-read that as a ticket price -- what I was pre-thinking about -- before I saw it was a date. Thanks hehe

Comparison of Aircraft Wing Loadings
Lexx_Luthor replied to column5's topic in Military and General Aviation
F-4 vs F-14 Right about now, 12:22PM, I am scheduled to enter the thread and carry out my internal programming by poasting the F-4 has the advantage of 2 seats. -
Postpone or cancel? How much are tickets nowadays? Have not been since before 2000. I need to go again.

Dog, your getting a DELL.

Comparison of Aircraft Wing Loadings

Surprised by F-102 F-106 wing loading haha. I saw one of the last 106 flying at airshow. Blotted out the sun. -
The shavee should have the shave just recorded before he backed away. Love to see it.

People who keep F-100 bumpsides running today say the dash looks best with the vinyl cover removed. I agree. Another wtf (WaT iF) thought: Fairey Delta 3. -
a warning for anyone on the flight deck
Lexx_Luthor replied to ONETINSOLDIER's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yikes. Just, no. I've always wondered how they step around E-2 Hawkeye giant props on a tiny deck. -

I like it. I wonder if this is good for wing tip stalls. -

-- only thing holdin me back is elevading the gun What about throttling and nose gear compression, you know throttle up and nose drops, throttle down and nose rises. -
We computer gamers forget the reason for -23 and -17 swing wing was to improve airfield performance so airbases would not have to be overly large and even more vulnerable. In that regard, even "early" -23 did okay compared to if it had, say, a fixed tailed delta wing. Granted, airfield performance is not "fun" dogfighting, but I thought I'd toss it out anyway.

pointing to cockpits ?
Lexx_Luthor replied to Sokol's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yes it does, at least for SF1. SF2+ may have newer avionics features that I don't know how they work. I have SF on D: drive. Also on D: drive are two folders called A and AA. Folder A is for cockpits. Folder AA is for loading bmps. In folder A, I have sub-folders for all aircraft that have unique aspects to their cockpit. For example, MiG-15, MiG-17F, MiG-19S, and SM-12 all use the same pit (mutated F-86Dora pit by DogSabreTeam). In these MiGs' cockpit.ini's and avionics.ini's, I point them all to D:\ A \ MiG-15 \ Cockpit. You MUST also point everything in AVIONICS to the new folder. Same with MiG-17PF, MiG-17PFU, MiG-19P, and MiG-19PM. All are directed to MiG-17PF cockpit sub-folder in folder A which uses the same Dora pit except with the radar showing. You may run into issues of very *slight* differences required between aircraft types. I'd like to change the fuel guage to show more fuel in MiG-19 than MiG-15. But that would require another cockpit sub-folder in A. Its a tossup and I may do that. For loading screens, I point each aircraft to AA....example: LoadingScreen= D: \ AA \ F-106A.bmp In the AA folder, there are just a ton of bmp pictures. No sub folders. I do this to make SF game folder as small as possible. I backup my stuff alot, and many of you will giggle at me for doing so until you join The List , and its fast to backup a small SF game if I don't add loading screens and cockpits in a while. Basically, splitting the game up like this allows selective backups of major changes. My aircraft have no Cockpit folders. At anytime I can change it all back if for some reason it does not work out in the long run, but I do like the small game size this allows now. -

Wench Raden, if you don't get near filling 1Tb of stuff, don't worry. Is possible to get low power desktop? Look up the silentPC forums. ~> http://www.silentpcreview.com/ The hobby is (1) quiet computers, as fanless as possible, and (2) low power computers. Low power and quiet go together. CPU, I use Athalon II X2 at 65 watts, and that's a year old now. New 45 watt models are coming soon, I think. Video, I have HD 4550 at what, 10 watts lol? They have "green" hard drives that are a bit slow but...well..."green." For desktop durability, use 2.5 inch "laptop" drives -- SATA only. I just got a half dozen 2.5" 40GB SATA drives for fairly cheap to use as multiple independent backups for my desktop stuff. -

Showdown Over L.A. -- No Bllod Shed. This was REAL!
Lexx_Luthor replied to a topic in Military and General Aviation
Thanks ezlead!! Good stuff Never seen anything I couldn't figure out. One turned out to be NAVY test flasher in geo orbit, the other I eventually traced to either rocket plume or chemical plume in very low orbit. But pilot and radar operator stories pull alot of weight for me. Its said the Soviet air forces had mind blowing UFO experiences, and Russians aren't as afraid of the topic as we are. Not sure. ...just don't report an *airplane* flying far above your ceiling. PVO pilots got transferred after 1956 for reporting airplanes. UFOs are "okay" I suppose. The bosses hated U-2s. Maybe, Old Testament~esque fallen angels, still-in-the-fold angels, or both, don't run around advertising who they are to Man. That's my take on what they are. I suppose in time they will step into the open.
