  1. Read This BS.......

He agreed to the rules when he bought into the HA. Should never have bought into such an agreement, so we can't entirely blame the HA. I know folks who later regretted it, wanted to raise a ham radio tower. They find a means. Stay away from HA's.

  3. Games with dynamic campaigns

Thanks OVS really good info. I should branch out a bit, but no time.
  4. front blade is Objet03 rear blade is tacan My setup is (SF1 series)...it seems some meshes need the "_ok" and this tacan is one of them (but not Objet03). Confusing? I always add the _ok. [AircraftData] : : Component[008]=BigBlade1 Component[009]=BigBlade2 [bigBlade1] ParentComponentName=Fuselage ModelNodeName=Objet03_ok DestroyedNodeName=Objet03 DetachWhenDestroyed=TRUE HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE [bigBlade2] ParentComponentName=Fuselage ModelNodeName=tacan_ok DestroyedNodeName=tacan DetachWhenDestroyed=TRUE HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE haha Wrench I've been plugging away at a new 6-MMmap (10-MMmap hopefully) and I got this from C5 to help out here. Figure I do some "normal" contributing for a change. For the last 15 minutes, rushing around trying to find these blades, every time I closed the Nesher OUT and DATA files, I click the icon for... ...TERRAIN EDITOR -- hey Wrench your right 2 x tacans wozop with that? Anyways this takes out both blades for me.
  5. Games with dynamic campaigns

What did you program OFF campaign with? More than anything I wish we could do that. Teh SF is my *only* computer game, no time for anything else hehe..
  6. Games with dynamic campaigns

I must have Poasting Disorder (PD). I don't do SF campaigns because for the campaign I'm (slowly) developing -- which is the only reason I'm into the SF -- I don't want the player squadron to have game outcome preference over other air units. Surface units obviously are different since they are not playable, but I won't be using them much. It all might work good enough though. I really don't want to program a campaign engine.
  7. Games with dynamic campaigns

I suggest Lowengrin's 3rd Party independent dynamic campaign engine for IL-2/Forgotten Battles. To some degree Lowengrin saved this game for offline players -- as IL-2 Online War creators saved the game for those who like dynamic online war campaigns. Lowengrin ~> http://www.lowengrin.com/news.php Very interesting that Lowengrin makes only an "editor" for the SF series. A non-stock dynamic campaign is not possible because of the lack of a map-wide text file combat event recorder for all units (not just player squadron). That's why I never even tried an SF campaign. I eventually will program my own in FORTRAN, some decades from now at the rate I'm going, by manually counting units after a game mission. Its the only way I know.
  8. 4 Police Officers Killed

As always good discussion developing here... http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135021 This in particular I find disturbing... Rev1 (page1):: Its worse than that. I've heard some of the computer "paperwork" during stops would be better performed over radio allowing the cop to keep eyes *always* on the situation while the folks back at the station do the computer work. It may not that simple but in my idealistic utopian world, maintaining awareness on the street is number one and there is no number two. I don't know the details but I wonder how much of the computer "paperwork" destroys situational awareness. I know that computers can add to workload because computers can, perhaps following the increasing complexity of laws and regs. Oh, and the destruction of night vision after staring at a bright white computer screen.
  9. 76:: That thing finally put Yak out of the fighter business. Buried him. He never tried again.
  10. Wrench:: if so, delete all the smoked "glass." I do that for all flayable planes, and for MF -21 series, its a tga file in cockpit folder.
  11. inacceptable size

 haha I spent ALOT of time doing that same thing. Now....no more than 2 Gigs tops, ah depending on the breaks. Easiest thing to start with is put all loading files in another non-game folder anywhere, even another drive. You can access this folder from different installs. At least for SF1. Using Win7 here.
  12. FC, watch the dark skin at high altitude. If I recall, SF PATCH 2008 had the higher you fly, the darker the skin (not good). You want to maintain full sun-vs-skin brightness into orbit...see the Thudwire thread below. Also the 2008 Enviro spelling here was porked. I don't know if TK fixed the mispellings -- he fluffed it big time...all 3 of them. If not, use this... SunLightModifiler=1 AmbientModifiler=1 SpecularModifiler=1 TK -- mispelling error in Enviro 2008? ~> http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5743 -- (( I wish we could set NormFiler=1 see http://www.yolo.net/%7Ejeaton/century/106/26106.htm finally something that pwns antiflash white))
  13. Russia buys French carrier?

If its equipped with something like OnStar, a keyboard can turn it off. One *click* and the war is over.
  14. Caption This

Coach Tomlin, when you instituted the player ticklish resistance tests, you assured me there was no possibility of such a thing ever occurring. -- (not mine, but edited from Dr.S some of the best oddball quotable material out there)
  15. QF-100D

Have you fellas done a red/blue dissmimilar training type thing? Two sides competing from different bases. A new install setup just for this. Guns could be given invisible tracers, damage modelling might be tailored to just disable AI combat flying, and coloured smoke emitted by damaged/destroyed parts to simulate feedback from the ground, instead of the usual burning smoke type thing. Didn't they do whole campaigns like this for training? That would be ALOT of work molding the game into something as completely different as this. **haha** try molding the game to SAC~vs~PVO you could spend YEARS doing this.
  16. Doesn't matter. Best is the no dogfight kill; either bounce with guns or from long range with missiles. Anytime you get into a pop culture "zero" or "triplane" Samarai style dogfight, you already lost the basic mission. That's why I always say fly a tough Russian Style airplane. hgbn::
  17. What's your horizon distance there? I've seen that exact thing. Forgot why though. FarClipDistance=5000E+3 <------- lexx settings //25000.0 <--------stock settings Try something between Stock and Lexx. Lexx settings can cause other issues to appear in a more "normal" use of the SF. Unless you need that 5 million, start with maybe 100000 (I always convert to km so 100E+3) After about 0.5 year of SF-free absence, *I FORGOT* buttloads of little sim details, just like this one. I mean, I totally intentionally ignored the sim for that time. Now I'm paying for it. I wanna re-do my 6MMM map, and I forgot how.
  18. Marine Stake-out in Afghanistan

I dunno. It seemed the Taliban were near beaten after the first offensive back in 2001, when the Media.gov indicates "we won" then everybody back home goes back to sleep, tunes it all out (the public). Are you seriously comparing Afghanistan to Vietnam? No. People who have been to those places are seriously comparing Afghanistan to Vietnam. I only know about the financial system destroying America from the inside. Its my field of study lets say. Lord knows what Wall Street is doing to the lesser nations out there. I can see your point about the Afghan War being smaller in scale, number wise, than the Vietnam War. Agreed on that. GwynO:: Friendly tip: Never mess with any dude named Smedley. No need for conspiracies. Its all out in the open, and we all bought into it -- you know -- our credit lines and our house flipping and all that. Every one of us are "the bankers" in some respect. I'll leave off with another ignored old timer: Pres Eisenhower's and his farewell speech, 1961. Emphasis on "disastrous...."
  19. Recommendations for a flight bag...?

LED flashlight. Something you can hold in your mouth. LED Headlamp?? Never thought of this one before. Backup flashlight. Another backup flashlight.
  20. Taking my simming seriously...back in the day.

Ya'll don't let TK know about this. But, back in IL-2 I printed out my own maps, layem on desk and navigated visually alone, or with cockpit compass if needed (not use cheat map). Got to know some of the map terrains really well.
  21. Marine Stake-out in Afghanistan

Well, I was pretty impressed with how it was done conventionally using local forces. Everybody here was waiting and waiting and waaaiiiiting for a post-911Massacre response, and then BAM one day it starts and Talibaners were rolled up, snap just like that, or so it seemed at the time. The offensive took a few months to prepare I suppose. Perfect. Just amatuer guessing here. But since then...what happened? Somebody poasted (somewhere) the other day basically... Afgan- 2009 - 2001 = 8 Viet-- 1973 - 1965 = 8 8 years! Zur, I dunno. The only thing I figure is that email or such would pass the censors. Post-retirement Smedley would not lol. I get hung on seeing advice that makes people dependent on debt bonds as jobs are being lost while banks get bailed out. They are bailing out the homebuilders now.
  22. Marine Stake-out in Afghanistan

"...consider hygiene and indoor plumbing to be products of the devil. They're still figuring out how to work a Bic..." Rule #1 Never talk about the NAVY if you want a boat home. But...seriously...."You wanna help? Buy bonds, America." Wall Street.gov debt paper? I dunno Zur. If you like, czech out the bond scam pulled during WW1 described here by Gen. Smedley Butler, USMC (d. 1940), in his little book War Is A Racket. ~> http://www.warisaracket.com/ (scroll down some) Rule #2 NEVER mess with a guy named Smedley. Its nearing 100 years later, and there's nothing new under the SF Sun. Here is a more current view on the fat cats back home by Fred Reed USMC Vietnam. Czech out Joe Haldeman's Forever War sci-fi. Most wonderfully written novel I ever read...with, naturally, the *best* book cover (original edition, although that had parts cut).
  23. I can whip up a terrain sometime, centered on Montana ANG natually. But I can't tile. If you go back a few decades, you can use real airplanes, and Dave won't have a fit since it would be obviously fantasy that never happened, like I prefer LeMay~esque era nuc fantasy. And going back you get F-106 Revenge of Operation Highspeed. What really happened at William Tell. ~> http://www.yolo.net/%7Ejeaton/century/106/26106.htm Defending America's skies.
  24. The "WET START" Incident

 Funny site. Dr. Strangelove = Prescott Bush FC:: : : But at least the United States never ended up becoming a fascist dictatorship (unless you ask Ron Paul supporters). : The lesson here? Fascist or not, you don't f*** around with guys named Smedley or Dickstein. That made my day, triply so (Bush - Paul - Smedley/Dickstein) Thanks. I had to write in Ron Paul() on the ballot, but that's still funny as hell.
  25. QF-100D

Bpao again!!! I've been wondering lately who came up with this trick, I couldn't remember but I knew at one time. Thanks fellas/fellattes. One example I use. I bpao'd the Thudwire B-52 "drop" tanks which are not droppable, nor even unselectable. I can now replace them with suitable large functioning drop tanks. Don't know where I'd find a B-52~esque tank for this though. Maybe use the PASKO B-58 pod.
