New SF1E install with Win7 64bit, odd happenings!
Planejunky posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm trying to install SF1E onto my new computer. The installation went smoothly, the hangar screens are all fine etc, but once I hit "fly" and the sim starts, I get this! Can anyone offer any suggestions please? Cheers! -

Ok, I've now patched right up to Nov 11 and guess what? Yep it seems to have resolved the problem by itself, well so far anyway! -

Do you know if there's a newer cat extraction file please? The only one I have is sfp1e_10. -

Mr Viper you are a star, thank you for that! I'll try looking through my settings later on and see if any of those issues match up. -

I'm now having real problems getting signed up the to Thirdwire support forums, when I tried signing up I constantly got this message "one of your responses below was not correct" even though I checked everything was in order and passwords matched. Of course I should've mentioned I have SF2E, NOT SF1E, clearly a senior moment! -

To ballance that book by Cdr Ward, I would highly recommend Sqn Ldr Jerry Pook's book "RAF Harrier Ground Attack Falklands", and David Morgan's "Hostile Skies". -

It is a laptop yes, but strangely it's not had any problems running other stuff such as FSX and IL-2. The game screen rez matches the PC rez too. -
British Phantoms and British pilots
Planejunky posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi, I've just downloaded the updated RAF and Royal Navy Phantom sets, and have to say I'm very impressed! I do have one question though. How do I replace the default pilots with the Britishpilot version please? I tried renaming the pilot line in the data.ini file, but now they show up outside the cockpit riding on the canopies! Cheers -

Planejunky replied to Planejunky's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That's great cheers mate. I still can't quite understand why this happens though, the only line that's been changed is the actual pilot, and not the position he sits. Surely it should just show up in the correct position as the previous one? -
Fuel tanks appear as bombs in Weps editor
Planejunky posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Can anyone explain why some fuel tanks show up as bombs when you see them in the weapons editor? This is very annoying, so any help would be much appreciated. I apologise if this is covered elsewhere, but I'm too lazy to search through 100's of posts to find it! -
Fuel tanks appear as bombs in Weps editor
Planejunky replied to Planejunky's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Odd indeed, I dunno what I just did, but they appear fine now as fuel tanks! So the weps editor isn't needed then? So I assume that you can just place the folder into objects/weapons, and the sim just picks it up automatically? Maybe using the editor is what caused the issue. Cheers for taking a look anyway mate, it's much appreciated. -

Flight Dynamics
Planejunky posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've just downloaded the Hawk 127 from A-Team Skunkworks, and very grateful that they gave me access to the file. Having added the F-18 cockpit, as its three MFD's are much more realistic for this jet, I'm wondering how do you change the flight dynamics. The reason I ask is that this model handles like a heavier fighter such as a Phantom, but it should be extremely agile. I'm assuming it's somewhere in here, and within the pitch, roll, and yaw damper entries? [FlightControl] StallSpeed=53.83 CruiseSpeed=167.35 ClimbSpeed=125.51 ClimbSpeed=230.02 CornerSpeed=221.17 LandingSpeed=53.10 MaxG=8.00 MaxSpeedSL=277.8 MachLimit=0.95 PitchDamper=0.55 RollDamper=0.4 YawDamper=0.3 GunBoresightAngle=0 RocketBoresightAngle=0.0 AutoTrimMaxMach=0.97 Cheers -

Ah, that sounds like I'm completely out of my depth there then! It's a crying shame as the 127 is such a beautiful model, and I really wanted it in my sim. :mda: -

Hawk 100 series?
Planejunky posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Does anyone know if a Hawk 100 is being worked on for SF? It's a great little jet with the ability to carry some great weaponry, along with a glass cockpit and modern avionics. -

No chance of including my old stomping ground at RAF Wattisham, Suffolk is there? We had two squadrons of Phantoms and it just don't seem right to be flying with 74 (F) Sqn over Germany! We should be out over the North Sea taking down Bears and Badgers! -

HARM's not guiding
Planejunky posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi, I've just downloaded the superb F/A-18E/F, however when flying a SEAD mission I can't get the AGM-88D HARM to guide onto the target. Despite the enemy radar transmitting, they just fly straight into the ground! Has anyone else found this problem, and can they offer a solution please? Cheers -

Of course now we just need to port over those lovely Super Bug skins from the first generation to work with SF2! -

The aircraft is superb Eric! I've noticed issues with other weapons too where the sim seems to change the data file (the Brimstone launcher issue springs to mind). The above values were indeed set to zero, and overwriting those lines has sorted out the problem perfectly! Many thanks. -
Yuk, that's one ugly vessel!
