I'm sure this topic has been raised before, but does anyone know if there's any plans for a Buccaneer in the pipeline? It seems to be a very noticable absence in the SF world! I guess the rotating bomb bay may cause a problem though?

Hi Russ, I didn't either mate, I simply copied the NADR fuel tank folder three times, painted the bitmap to either arctic, grey or desert in each, then just renamed all the stuff inside. I then opened the weapon editor to add them to the sim, so I didn't actually edit anything using the WE program. When I open the Weapon Editor they show up ok, but just ain't doing the same in the sim! Actually your post could read two ways, do I need to edit them in the Weapons Editor and they'll show up, or should I not edit them and then they'll show up ok?

Yeah the Bronco is a sweet aeroplane! -
Hi, I've managed to get the Jaguar GR.1 working ok in SF2E, however I have downloaded a number of other skins. The RAF flew this jet in the 1991 Gulf war, and the Coltishall wing often deployed north to Norway as part of their NATO commitment to ACE. In the 1990's like the Tornado and Harrier, they were then re-painted in LIF Grey. The basic package only comes with the 1980's/early 90's grey/green wraparound camo, so new tanks are needed for the other schemes the jet wore throughout it's service life. The default grey/green fuel tanks needed to be packaged and entered into SF2E via the weapons editor, which worked ok and they're available to load on missions. I've repainted the Jaguar tanks in arctic, desert (operation Granby), and the later grey colours. After re-naming the files so they all correspond, I got them all loaded via the weapons editor with no problem, however they still won't show in the sim. Rather strangley the grey one shows in the list, but there's apparently none available for use! Here's the details for the Desert version. I've re-named the folders from TANK_NADR to: Tank_NADR_Desert Tank_NADR_Arctic Tank_NADR_Grey Here's the entry for Tank_NADR_Desert_data.ini [WeaponData001] TypeName=Tank_NADR_Desert FullName=NADR UK Desert ModelName=NADRUK_Desert Mass=950.000000 Diameter=0.525000 Length=5.065000 SubsonicDragCoeff=0.200000 SupersonicDragCoeff=0.770000 AttachmentType= SpecificStationCode= NationName= StartYear=0 EndYear=0 Availability=0 BaseQuantity=0 Exported=FALSE ExportStartYear=0 ExportEndYear=0 ExportAvailability=0 WeaponDataType=5 MaxFuelAmount=1200.000000 Asymmetrical=FALSE Here's the Tank_NADR_Desert.config entry: [WeaponData] ObjectFullName=NADR UK Desert ObjectDataFile=Tank_NADR_Desert_data.INI The bitmap file has also been renamed NADRUK_Desert.bmp, and the name change has been correctly entered into the LOD file. As these are being recognised by the weapon editor, I'm puzzled as to why they're not showing in the sim itself. I've even tried defaulting them in the Jaguar loadout.ini with no joy. I hope someone with better knowledge than I, can help shed some light on this! Cheers

Ingress to a CAS mission in support of allied troops in Norway. -
Does anyone know if there was ever any grey/green camo RAF Germany skins for the Tornado GR.1 package please? It would be a great addition to the WOE/SF2 Europe versions as the jet served for many years at Laarbruch and Bruggen with 2, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 20 Squadrons. 9 Sqn is already represented, but the other units would be nice too! Does anyone know if the Hunting Engineering JP233 sub-munitions dispenser was made for this too? I'm surprised that there's not an Arctic camo scheme for a 1 Sqn Harrier GR.3, unless I've missed it! I've got the Snowy Norway scenery loaded on SF2E, and it would be great to fly the GR.3 there as 1 Sqn would've deployed to Norway if the Cold War had turned hot. Cheers

I've always flown on the "normal" settings. In my haste to type up the topic post, I should mention I'm using SF2E. I've tried all of the above to no avail, except seting the HUD to hard. Like romflyer I still like to have the red target squares (a tad unrealistic, but that's my preference), so setting this to "hard" is not an option. As I said in my opening post, I'd already tried setting the radar width and height to 0 with no success. This trick worked fine in the original SF series, but somehow the sim over rides this in the SF2 series which is a bit of a mystery to me! I've tried Russo's EasyAvionicsdata.ini suggestion too, again it had no effect in the sim. Thanks for the help anyway guys!

Hi, How do you get rid of the radar display in the top right hand corner of the screen please? I've tried the usual method of extracting the HUDDATA.ini from the relevant CAT file, and setting the Height and width to zero, but it's still there! [Display004] DisplayType=RADAR PosX=0.865 PosY=0.015 Width=0.125<-------setting WIDTH= and HEIGHT= to 0 will remove the large Aldiss sight in the upper right. Height=0.16666667 Alpha=0.60 InitTime=2.0 Cheers in advance.

OS Change Advice
Planejunky replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I had WoE and SFG set up on a Vista machine, and last week the whole thing stopped working. It just kept sending my PC into a tailspin to the point even ctrl+alt+delete made things worse! I tried a new clean install and the same thing kept happening so I downloaded the second generation of WoE and now it works fine, hopefully it'll stay that way. I would stay with XP for now if I were you. -
Do you think UAV's should replace pilots?
Planejunky replied to scouserlad13's topic in Military and General Aviation
UCAV's do have a place in the modern inventory, operations in Afghanistan have certainly proved their worth. I'm not so sure whether they should replace pilots altogether though. -
For some reason there appears to be a problem when installing the Brimstone 3 pack into the SF2 series. The data.ini file gets messed up and results in the weapons being shown back to front on the launch rails. To fix this problem simply go to your modded weapons folder and open the folder 'BrimStone3Pack'. Open the 'BrimStone3Pack_data.ini' file. Replace the attachment lines with these ones. Attachment01Position=-0.215000,-0.004500,-0.059000 Attachment01Angle=0.000000,-3.880005,0.000000 Attachment02Position=0.215000,-0.004500,-0.059000 Attachment02Angle=0.000000,-3.880005,0.000000 Attachment03Position=0.000000,0.082900,-0.112600 Attachment03Angle=0.000000,-3.880005,0.000000 This should fix the problem. Many thanks to Kowalski for the brains behind this fix!

Ok this is getting really weard now. I uninstalled the Brimstone3pack using the weapons editor, and then deleted the folder. I've re-installed it but I'm still getting the same issue. If I fly a CAS mission on the range I get this loadout (looks like Maverick rails to me, rather than the proper Brimstone rails), and I have to actually select the weapons in the load out screen. If I fly the CAS mission over Germany, I get the Brimstone loadout defined in the aircraft's LOADOUT.ini with the correct rails but the missiles back to front like this! I've designated the Brimstones in the Harrier LOADOUT.ini too, and the same thing is happening. Really odd as I never had any issues with this in SF Gold. I'm guessing it's a problem with how the weapon is displayed on the rail. When you fire the weapon, it then displays correctly, fires forward of the aircraft and hits a target correctly.

I thought I had, as it's been installed with the SF2 weapons editor. Here's the lines from the Typhoon LOADOUT, followed by the data file of the installed Brimstone launch rails. Do the rack types need to go into a seperate folder away from the actual weapons? Cheers.

Weapons range in SF2?
Planejunky replied to Planejunky's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've got it installed and working properly, I assumed from a post above there was a tweak needed to get it working in SF2E. It just installs as normal, but the installer creates a "Terrain" folder with the two ranges enclosed. These need to be moved to the "Terrains" folder for the sim to see them, then you're good to go!
