  1. Reminds me of the first time i tried editing campaigns to have a carrier on WOE. I Station the carrier really far and i have to cross the entire map to get to the target zone. Good thing those tomcats have really large fuel tank. Plenty of times when trying to land back to the carrier i either not make it or just barely.
  2. I think what i read was an excerpt from this book or at least an interview with a pilot who flew the Iranian Cat. Though at the beginning from what i remember the radar was not operational but they manage to fix it in time for the war.
  3. From what i read. Only 16 or something missiles (probably from the group the tech were teaching the local tech guys with) were sabotaged by Hughes technicians. the rest of the inventory were safe in the crate. The news that all missiles were sabotage was over blown. Well if you ask me. those missiles was stored in a military facility and with the tension running high don't think any foreigners can moved about freely and destroy All 70 +AC and 200+ missiles without someone asking what are you doing? That's just my opinion tho. :)
  4. I was playing around with the weapons editor and decided to make a cruise missile out of the AIM-54 using values from the Soviets ASM. I launched it at a target to test... then i saw it on radar locked it and decided to fire a phoenix on it hoping i can see it track and guide itself to the ASM. Well it didn't go as i expected. here's a Shot of the ASM being locked in the tomcats radar and a phoenix being fired at it. It seems that those damn soviet Cruise missile are fast! The Phoenix i sent out to chase the ASM decided that it's easier to target god than chase an ASM Also a question for you kind gents here... is there a way to edit this so that the missiles doesn't go through the AC model. maybe adjust the position to lower them or get them closer together? thanks Oh yeah here's a pic of the brave and ill-fated Fedutenko before his final moments.
  5. Wow somebody actually read what i wrote. Thanks! To be honest im fairly successful even with the 54A. i can at least get at least 33% hit rate. its rare that all 4 will miss. usually 2 of four will hit. and my wingman the one who scored the hits have 12 air victories and the second one 8 air kills. but usually its number 3 that gets the kill wing no 2 misses everything. what i usually do is get in a higher point at high subsonic or sonic speeds track 4-6 bandits. get wingie in range, adjust radar range, lock said bandits and let wingie fire. slowdown and wait for a hit or miss. Do the same for no 3 or if getting way too close reset radar lock them up again and do the business myself then ask no 3 for left overs with this i can usually get all bandits or trim them down for a clearer engagement with sparrow and winders.
  6. Warning very long read.... How do you put text inside a scroll? Let's all give a moment of silence for Maj. Vadim Fedutenko. a fine Airman for the fulcrum, a fierce warrior and an exceptional soldier of The Red Air. For he died in the fulfilment of his duty in service of his country. It was really just his bad luck that he faced one crazy pilot/simmer. 10-02-2002 Maj Vadin Fedutenko and his squad of MiG-29A was tasked to escort a pair of Tu-23M in a strike mission against the USN carrier group stationed somewhere in the Atlantic. A few hours later Maj. Fedutenko's Squad was able to make quick work of the pair of F/A-18 hornet that was launched to intercept the Strike Group. All was calm and peaceful then suddenly both Tu-22 erupted in two giant balls of fire and drops into the ocean. Maj. Fedutenko was stunned but he quickly regains composure and order his squad to regroup and heads to the escape zone. His orders were futile. As he hear Radar warning tone. After hearing three loud Booms, all three of his squadron mate disappears in flame and smokes. He filps his fulcrum over and pulled into an inverted dive and dump as much countermeasure as he can. sure enough he saw a huge missile trail pass by overhead... News reached Cmdr. Dana Christie that two FA-18 hornets from another carrier group were lost during an intercept mission. He and his wingman are quickly dispatched to intercept and destroy all and every none US aircraft to be found within 200 miles of their carrier. A few hours later. the hawk eye notified them of bandits 100m of their nose. They were identified to be hostiles. two Tu-22M and four MiG-29A. He ordered his wingman to take care of the Mig-29s while he took out the bombers. 60Nm out, Cmdr. Christie launched two AIM-54C Phoenix against the two bombers. After a few seconds both bombers disappear from the radar. By this time his wingman have also sent all four of his AIM-54 on the Fulcrum escorts. They track the bandits and moved in position to finish any survivors. One.. two.. three.. of the four bandits drop of the radar as the E-2 confirms the kill. One of the Fulcrum manages to evade his phoenix. now within 30NM the fulcrum started to turn its nose on the Tomcats. Unfortunately Cmdr. Dana Christie has him padlocked with his Radar and hot for the kill. "Fox 3!". Christie guided an AIM-54 towards the Fulcrum. Maj Fedutenko has position on one of the tomcat the shot down his bombers. And after being shot at himself, his warriors blood began to boil... he decided that he will not go home until he sets one of those American planes down in flames.. he positioned his plane so that he can get a lock on the blip on his Radar. judging his altitide, angle and speed to his target he readies himself to fire a salvo of R-77. But before he can get a lock. his system warns him of an incoming missile. He tried to brave it and wait untill his close enough for an optimal shot of his own. He knew what he was up against he knew he was up against an F-14 and the missile launched at him was a Mach 4.5 Phoenix coming at him at great speeds, if he was just a bit late he wont be able to out turn it. He waited, a little more to take a shot.. "Oh s**t!", once again Vadin was forced to break off. He dove down and dropped more chaffs as he did his best to avoid the unseen threat. Looking around he saw a flash coming in from above. Instinctively he jinked his fighter and pulled in more and dropped a lot more chaffs and even some flares. The dreaded missile shoot past and blew up in the distance... Maj Vadin regained his composure as a friendly radio comm informed him help. "just leave one of them for me" Christie was struck with disbelief. the phoenix he launched had missed and now enemy fighters are inbound for them. He asked Command if they can provide them with assistance but for some unforseen reason he and his wingman are alone in the sky with hostiles coming in. AEW informed him of the new enemy's position. Angels 20 50miles. He check his fuel gauge and he still have plenty more to burn. he decided to seperate from his wing man. He instructed his wingman to continue pursuit of the MiG as he engaged the new threat. "Don't wan't to be sprung from behind." He climbed up to 25 and beamed his radar in the bandits direction. counting only two fighters he was now more confident on their odds. Maintaining speed and altitude he lock up the fighters and launched his remaining phoenix at the lead plane. He maintains lock and the lead while taking note on the second planes position. They're still in control of the fight as his wingman called a sparrow launch himself. All he need to do is to wait for his wingman to finish up and they can do a 2v2 or hopefully a 2v1. He was now skimming on the deck as he had another missile shot at him. he's been burning fuel and he knew that the tomcats are already out of AIM-54s. If he can just break lock from his pursuer then he have a chance. He locked behind and he saw the trail of the missile coming in for him he continued on his path and at the last second pulled up and forced the missile to fly in to the ground. He saw a glint of metal in the sky. The enemy is close.. with his plane being more agile than it was he was now more than confident that he can win this battle. locked it up and fired two of his R-77 on its way at the same time another missile was launched at him... The last Phoenix manages to hit the lead fulcrum and now Christie is on the offensive against the 2nd fighter. Range of 12 nm on chase he lauched a sparrow the missile failed to track. now within 4nm of the enemy fighter he launched a sidewinder on it. He needs to finished up this enemy as the call from his wingman tells him that his partner is in a very bad position. Winchester with a bandit on his six. Thankfully the winder tracked and hit its mark and Christie set a course to aid his wingman. Maj Fedutenko have been following the same fighter for an eternity now. He manage to evade everything thrown at him but the enemy has also managed to evade his own assault so far. running low with barely just enough fuel to take him to the border he knew that even if he eventually manage to get rid of this fighter his friend will come and it'll be time until he was shot down. What's more frustrating for him is that he wanted to get a chance to fight the pilot who managed to kill all his comrades. A radio call of friendly fighters sealed his decision. He will live to fight another day.. Major Fedutenko reluctantly broke off and head home. Cmdr Cristie is now running low on fuel and with more enemy fighters coming in and with little armament to fight with the news of his wingman being out of the fray was a welcome relief for him and he and his wing head for home as the friendloy forces manages to launch friendly interceptors to cover their retreat. 10-18-2002 about two weeks from the last engagement Cmdr. Dana Christie is escorting a couple of F/A-18 hornets in a strike mission against enemy occupation. enroute they are encounter a squadron of MiG-29. tasked to intercept their flight. Getting a good lock on the enemy flight. He asked his wingman to Engage. 4 AIM-54 Phoenix was fired 3 of them hitting their target leaving only but one survivor. "He's here!" Dana Christie smile with delight. He knew that the mig pilot who managed to evade their attack was the same pilot that made his wingman retire. Ever since that time he was out for revenge... Maj Vadin Fedutenko was tasked to intercept and take out the escorts of a strike group detected earlier in the day. When he was informed that they might be up against F-14 Tomcats he was more than delighted. Finally he has a chance to redeem himself against his arch enemy. Deep in his heart that he knew he will be up against the same pilot who laid shame on his fellow countrymen. However right before take off a mishap happened on the plane that he was supposed to use. A plane was immediately pulled out from maintenance to serve as his mount. This plane was exactly the same as the one he used two weeks before. He should have been more delighted as he will be using the same plane but climbing into the cockpit an uneasy feeling came over him... Setting himself up for an optimum course for the missile to take to the bandit and getting a solid lock onto the target, Cmdr. Dana Christie launched a pair of AIM-54s. he waited patiently for the missiles to hit their mark both missile missed the target. Christie smiles.. "Fox3!" As soon as the first member of his squad blew up Maj Fedutenko pulled and burn. Increasing his altitude and dropping chaffs. a few momemnts had past and thinking the missile threat died down Fedutenko eased off and ran a radarscan for the enemies position... His eyes grew wide as a Smoke trail passed him just a few feet above head and another trail went passed through taking a part of his left wing with it exploding behind him and setting one of his engine on fire. Cmdr Christie had fired off all of his phoenixw while maintaining an intercept course for the elusive MiG. The TCS system shows a mig Flying with a missing wing and smoking engine on course towards the boarder. Killing it with a winder or a sparrow will now be an easy task but Cmdr Christie has other things in his mind.. Maj Fedutenko was able to regain control of his plane and the fire supression sysytem has put out the eninge fire. But, His plane is greatly crippled leaking fuel and with little to no response from the flight control he is clearly in n condition to fight. Still well above enemy territory Fedutenk set a course home. Cmdr Christie has managed to catch up on the crippled Fulcrum. he placed his gunsight just above the fulcrum's canopy and let a short burst hoping to elicit a response. The fulcrum twitches and pivots trying release itself from gunlock but the lack of surface control rendered it's efforts meaningless. Christie positioned his gunsight now a little bit to the left of the fighter and let out a burst.. then a bit to the right and a burst... MAj Fedutenko is flying on his crippled Mig-29 Fulcrum. he saw the tomcat roght behind him and he saw a burst of tracers above his head grazing the canopy. He triggered the exjection system but it failed to fire. he saw anothe short burst from his left side then on the otherside... a burst came and took out a part of his left stabilizer. MAj Fedutenko has never known absolute fear all his life but the Huge grey, metal bird behind him with the insignia of a skull and cross bone.. to him is the embodiment of terror! he knew that the enemy is toying with him. In his mind he can see the pilot laughing underneath that helmet as he let out burst of canon fire. "the devil!" He said to himself. This time the controls is almost frozen solid. He tried one more time to fire his ejection seat. he looked back, the plane behind him is really a magnificent fighter. the way each line meets the other makes for a beautiful design. But as much as he admire it he can't help but fear it. "beautiful and deadly." He squints his eyes as he saw the pilot signalling to him. It was a universal gesture famous in the west. a clenched fist with the middle finger extended upward. He saw flashes from the F-14's guns. Btw has anyone find the TW's F-14 radar rather weak? couldn't get a lock on a fighter until about 40-60nm with it.
  7. I think what happened with my flight was my wingman was right behind me and when he released the phoenix. the ascent angle was right on top where i was and i got speared. @usafphantom2 - i hate it when my wingmen doesn't hit ground targets. especially in a SAM infested area where you send them in as sacrifice. :)
  8. Nice stories guys. I haven't been taken out by a winder or guns by my wingmen. the Phoenix hit was a first for me. The reason i asked about the Vampire kills is because i couldn't get a clear confirmation of a missile hit even with the Phoenix. Those Tu's launches them Kh's at a high 30k ft and then the missiles themselves flew to 70K ft at Mch 3-4 or something. I tried launching Phoenix at them right after launch or in flight or when they finally at low level. One time the outbrief said that i got some of them but never heard the call "you got one!". so i couldn't really tell if it's a clean hit, a proximity hit or if them missile just crashed.
  9. Could you just increase the war head? i did the same thing with the KF-2's supergun. I made the rockets IRM and increased the Explosive mass to 25kg. Worked well and didn't affect the weight of the actual rocket. the nuclear phoenix was even better wiped out 3 enemy squadron plus ground troops without actually hitting anything.
  10. SF2 Korea Terrain (V3)

you're forcing me to rip out my wallet for a new rig.
  11. I tried to install OMT on SF2NA but for some reason it crashes. so went back to doing naval campaigns. For a several missions my wingie has been very reliable. So once again while flying CAP decided to let him take first shots once again. Hawkeye notified us on a couple of bandits on our nine. set radar range to 230 and got 2 squad inbound. 80nm out are 6 Mig-23's and at 120nm 4 or 6 Mig-29A. locked up the -23s and called my wing on it. he fired his first -54 and we waited. the bandits got into under 50nm and nothing... called him again launched 2 this time. he got two. this time the -23s are starting to lock me up. asked him to fire his remaining phoenix to the lead 23 whose now 23 Nm on my nose and locking me up. I thought he missed and i launched my first phoenix. as soon as i did his -54 hit the bandit. one 54 wasted. I now have 4x AIM-9M and 3x AIM-54C. The remaining -23 have turned tail while the -29 squad are now under 40nm and closing fast. I locked up the first 3 fulcrum and fired All my phoenix. one phoenix missed its target. and im now under radar lock from the remaining fulcrums. I asked my wing to engage the Migs as he still has 2 sparrows at his disposal but he decided which i later found out to go after a recon bear. I Climbed up to gain an altitude advantage against the 29-s radar guided missile. as soon as i got above cloud cover my rwr detected a radar lock on my 10. closest target view. the Mig-23 has doubled back and is now in a prime firing postion for a radar. I immediately turn into it. It let a missile loose. and since i got energy and still got leeway on the throttle i kept climbing while dumping flare. he fired another missile i rolled inverted and dive and rolled towards the Mig. We merged onto each other and i turned left into it got another radar lock on me this time the fulcrums are in play. got myself in a disadvantageous position where im 3v1 against well armed opponents. I called my wing to watch my six. this time he complied but hes 40nm out of range of his winders. I broke off with the mig-23 and went in head towards the fulcrums. they got nose on first to close for an AHM but just enough for an IRM. he fired one and i barell rolled the F-14B still heading towards them. dumping flares. ( the screenie would have looked great if i were able to catch it. belly view of the tom with flares and chaffs trailling, An R-73 curving past in the foreground barely missing the tomcats wing and heading for the flares. a topside view of the Mig-29 passing in the background was caught in one frame! and i missed the Prt Sc key!). What happened next is my tomcat engaging a bandit almost getting into a firing solution and being forced to break by a missile lock by its buddies. a couple more faceshots attempted my the -29s. and luckily we were always too close and i was always too fast for it to track properly. The tide of battle turn when my wing finally able to catch up. and engaged one of the -29. with the other manoeuvring away from me. i broke engagement and went after the -23 which is trying to lock me up. i did a split S which took me behind and under the -23. i got a 4 sec? window enough for me to get a winder up the -23's tailpipe. The Mig-29 was a tough fight. we have both burned a fair amount of fuel and he having 2 R-73 left. i think he's now have better T-W. The one circle fight is going for its favor and im running low on energy. i dove to regain a bit of energy and powered up and climb for a loop. the mig failed to follow the climb and i found it still turning below. pushed rudder and flicked the nose on the mig. got tone and fox1. he dove and tried to turn tighter but the -9M tracked true. Went and called my wing. for some reason he got himself infront of the mig and is on the defensive. still got plenty of fuel for a Full burn to mach 2. was able to reach them pretty quick and the shot was fairly straight forward. both of them exhausted they're missiles and the fulcrum was intent on getting a gun kill on my wing. they were undulating in the vertical plane and all i have to do is make sure i got seamlock on the right bird and let a winder loose.. The engagement was very very scary but the ending was a bit uneventful... on a 1v1 the Flogger would have been an easy kill even without long ranged munition and i can definitely go head to head with a fulcrum fairly well. but having 2 fulcrums constantly getting radar lock on you while the Flogger sets you up from the opposite direction was a bit too much to handle. if i wasn't in the tomcat i would have wiped out earlier.
  12. i dont really have this problem since im always in the tomcat. the only times i had this was when flying an older plane like the sader. but since i now have mountain thaw in my install i can now fly A2G mission on the sader without worrying about more capable jets intercepting. Those valleys provide good cover for hiding. :)
  13. Since i lsot my stick i was kept far and away from sf2. can't figure out which release of ANW i had so just settled with mountain thaw. Oddly the raptor is easily detected by the F-14B from any distance. so upped the -22s RCS a bit and tailored a mission for an analog vs stealth. Took of with 4 F14D made a mistake of not tailoring the load so was flying with 4 54s on the pancake and 2 winders for each plane. vs 8 raptors with long range load. what happened was a crazy dive to the trenches fast and low flying while avoiding an onslaught of AMRAAMs. Took off and follow the way points. nearing the obj i ran a radar scan for the raptors. can't find them. called hawkeye and he got no contact either. called the squad to spread formation and climbed up to 20k and cycle through the ranges. some time passed and i got a missile launched on me. My rwr began blaring and got a 22 mark on my 12. They were right in front of me and they're completely invisible. I was right above a set of valleys. Called my squad to break and engage air (problem is we still dont know exactly where the enemy is. RWR is getting stronger. turned ECM on and dropped chaffs while diving to the deck. Another missile launch called on me. pressed shift+R got visual lock and called my wing on in. got another launch and called my squad on it. they valley that i took isn't that deep but very narrow with large elevation gradient and with sharp turns and curve. i was literally threading the D inside it. I was thinking that i'll be the decoy attract fire and asked my squad to attack wthoever it was that's firing. Several times i come out of the valley and got missile launch called on me. dove down steep and fast to remove lock on me. barely managing not to crash on several attempts. flicking the tomcat in the opposite direction each time i came to close to a wall or the deck. Great thing the tomcat doesn't depart. i would have been dead in anything else. I really wasn't able to track what is happening but i heard my squad call for positive kill several times. got into a long deep valley and my rwr has been quiet for a while and then i call my wing for a status check. F6 to cycle through the planes in the air. only got no.4 left and still have 3 raptors remaining. check map and they're on my 9 heading in opposite direction. probably out of AMRAAM and going home. gave chase following the canyons. i quickly caught up with a trailer, cycle to radar ACM, TWS and search, cycle through the ranges. freakin raptor is now virtually invisible to the radar from any ranges. moved in closer for winders. i called no.4 on the lead raptor. my mark decided to go vertical since im already nose up and carrying more momentum it was a piece of cake to follow and close in. got a long clear tone from its afterburner and fox 2. a couple of second and he's a burning mess. Visual on no 2. from map view. were flying perpendicular towards each other probably about 5nm apart. i turned into him and he did the same. selected guns for the merge and the bastard let his winder loose. Rolled the cat immediately. Were closing in to fast for it to track but that scared me a bit. revenge. Even with the useless phoenix underneath, thanks to all those climbed and dive i did to avoid the AMRAAMs i burned a significant amount of fuel and i was able to get into a better position. Followed the raptor through a one circle for a very long time, waited for it to straighten out or reverse direction. What it did was it straighten out and dive for the deck. i followed maintaining a good firing distance for my winder. the raptor got low and when the terrain began to elevate it went for a steep climb. By this time i was tracking it with the winder and fired as soon as we cleared the terrain clutter. the winder hit its mark. the lead raptor is still alive but im out of usable missile and no.4 is winchester. decided to let him go before it gets lucky and RTB. Checked the log. It seems that i managed to avoid 11 AMRAAMs and 1 9X. The Raptor only able to bag 1 tomcat with missile as my wingman seemed to have crashed into the scenery along with 2 F-22. and between the 3 of them they managed to down 3 -22s with the winder. add the 2 kills i have and the one that turned chicken. it was probably the best mission i had as of late. It's certainly one of those rare events that my wingmen were more than useful against a difficult opponent.
  14. A really cool project FC. since i just took custody of my niece might give it a whirl.
  15. So this is what Tk's been up to... didn't think he will actually bought the transition... so stary are you gonna do terrains for this too?
  16. Nice fight Caesar, Eric. I haven't come up on top against the F-14 or the F-16 for that matter when flying the F-8. Is there a terrain map for SF2 that has the same Valley and Ridges gradient as the American North West Terrain? or will ANW work on SF2? i figure that having deep valleys and tall mountains to hide in might work in my favor against the AI. forcing them to crash before i do.
  17. real pilots have 20/20 vision. plus they have the ability to swivel their head around and spot the bandit. ingame your limited to infront of your screen and the graphic quality of your screen. i also use the red target whenever i can't get a visual. i only turn it off until i'm near enough that i can see it.
  18. Nice vid Eric. question, what terrain are you using? Looking forward to it Caesar. this might get you in the mood. http://youtu.be/FBZ6-cCseCw the 2nd half makes me wanna see if i could survive the same situation.
  19. Found myself going vintage myself. As im a grumman fan decided to go with the F-9F against 2 faggots. i decided to bring 4x -9B's despite them being mostly useless. After take off i decided not to follow the way point as the one provided by the game is kinda screwed. It plan to take me to every inch of map before redirecting me towards the target. Since i set t up as an intercept mission i just kept on bugging the hawk-eye for target positions... the fight went 2 rounds. First round. hawk-eye directed me right into the fray behind and under the fags. i zoomed up and armed the winders i came real close until the winder kicked in, unfortunately i was too close and too fast for it to track. the fags split and I rolled back down on the lead. managed to keep on his six through a short circle. Up onto when he decided to pull up on a loop then into a descending scissors. by this time the winders still has a cold nose and can't smell the fags stinking exhaust. before i could get close enough to try for guns. number two entered the fray and the fight from then on look like this... This went on for 3 more times until below 4kft, on a forced split S to avoid being gunned down. the control froze. toggle flaps, toggle airbrakes, played with the rudders. tried pulling up and down... the cougar kept building airspeed and wont pull up was forced to eject and watch it spearhead into the ground. second round i cheated. since my stick is MIA i flew this on normal. not much is different between hard and normal, the plane reacts the same with the input just more responsive. and that this time my controls didn't froze. Still has the 9B's and doing the same as before. i landed myself on the same position but this time i cut back on the throttle earlier to give myself a bit more room to position myself. About 1nm the fags are finally alerted to my presence as they split up immediately. As number two gave me hell earlier i decide to went for him. after a series of scissors. i managed to get him right in a very good position for a winder. Armed the wider, surprisingly a clear tone right away, fox 1. went straight to the ground the winder did. still hot on its six, winders cold went for guns. Added a bit of throttle and as soon as i see it start to change direction i moved in before in. managed to predict its movement just right as the fag went straight through my gunsight and i managed to knock of its tail. check six for the lead fag. not there must have ran... called Hawkeye and minutes later found myself above it. he was probably unaware of my presence as he never made a move. dove down on his six. got tone and fired all my winders for good measure. 1 out of the 3 hit and he goes down in flames. Im not sure how good the modeling of the F-9F is. but aside from the controls freezing, it handled pretty well against the fag. good turn and quite quick on the pickup to 380kts. managed to reach sub mach numbers easily on the first round. Oh yeah some bad quality vid with me trying fraps and not really working well with SF2 and my anemic system. A neat landing despite the lack of stick.
  20. thanks. read Eric and Caesar's Dacts they're way better than mine. Man, u really did took the F-8 against a hard opponent. Good luck on the next round.
  21. you're not alone. getting a gun kill is really hard. since there's no hit bubble unlike other games. this means you have to hit the target where it stands. Predicting your targets move and getting your sight in front of his flight path would be the best way to do it. Also, if your not using a flight stick you need it. helps a lot in aiming.
  22. Looking forward to it! I myself found myself flyng one again without a stick as i left mine somewhere.... Took a CAP mission where i found myself eating more than what i bargained for... 1v1 wih my F-14B with D hud armed with 2x 9M, 2x7M guns and 75%fuel. vs Mig-29G with 4x R-73M and 2x R-27R.. i didn't pay attention to the position of the AC on the editor and was surprised to find the carrier launching SAMs. Map view and saw the mig flying close to my carrier just above my nose (about 4nm) flying way from my direction probably due to the SAM. took off and followed. once i was in the air. I would have been able to launch a sparrow and it would definitely hit. but that would be too boring so i waited from 9Nm until were far and away from the convoy's reach. kept following and soon enough i hear a rwr and my rio called a missile launch. i fell asleep waitig and didn't notice the mig when it turned my nose on me and engage. since i also have radar lock on it i fired my own sparrow to force it to break lock. since he was at least 2k ft. below me and were about travelling 0.9m i decided to pull up and drop chaffs. it worked as the missile flew past underneath. ofcourse my own Sparrow missed. rolled and turned into the mig. this is where the problem start. without a stick its, either pulling too hard or not pulling at all. Once circle. Found myself inside the Fulcrums turn radius but while he can maintain 430kts i was bleeding energy fast. I got a good tone for a bout 3 seconds under 2nm. well inside his radius flying almost parallel, but well behind on speed still a good shot, fired.. miss! had to rebuild energy. break off dive full burner. as the mig has plenty of energy to spare. i was on defensive at this point. It took another shot at me. kept diving and dropping flares and chaff. Hard left pulled up. managed to dodge that one. took a peak on the mig and it still has one R-27 left. The mig maintained advantage on me from this point on. as i don't have optimal control of the tomcat im forced to stay on the defensive in hopes that it'll run out missile to fire at me and then i have advantage with my remaining stores. I didn't bother with maintaing circles. just kept flying scissors and doing split-s. Alas its down with just 2 heat. still have plenty of flares. i was well determined to receive both of them but then Fulcrum decided it had enough and turned towards the boarder. i chased it, locked it up again with the sparrow. no movement. Fox 1. Of al the time for it to go dumb. but the mig still flying straight with no sign of retaliation. check fuel load ..im about 25% down from my orig load. he's must be empty and desperate to get home. My fuel levels ain't looking too bright either and were probably miles away from the carrier. got a 5 sec tone Fox 2. WTF?! that one was spoofed by chaffs!!! he ain't firing flares and it missed??!! Followed it to go for the gun kill. but getting a gun solution without a stick is pretty tricky. got some shots in but not enough. the fight ended up with the mig running out of fuel and crashing and the tomcat barely making it to the carrier. close but not quite.
