  1. Deuces, Thanks for the help. cocas has had some experience with terrains - and all that end of the design is all greek to me. I'm the textures/decals and now a little 3D - kind of guy. Thanks very much. With the help of some of the community we might be able to get something going here! Mike
  2. I would welcome your help. Ghostrider883 and cocas have volunteered to pitch in also. I have a quick campaign for the 71 war that I stuck together using the fiza'ya eagles Campaign by melassal, reverse-engineered so that it's flyable from the Indian side. I am going to need some help, as I'm not so concerned with the actual course of the campaign or ground war, my intent is just to pit the various airplanes in the air with mostly historical skins, decals, and squadron numbers. And I definately need that tiger striped Mig-21!! Can someone fill me in on what would be needed for a realistic Mig-21 that was flying in the 1971 campaign? How far off is the visual model of the Mig-21 in the game?
  3. I'm really interested in the two conflicts mentioned (1965 and 1971) and Ghostrider883 already has a lot of the great Mig-21 color schemes and decals that I have already downloaded from here and AVSIM, and I need to poke thru them all. Is there a hi-rez Mig-21 skin that has been made by someone - the old 512 pixel skins are a bit aged now. Is there a suitable terrain yet that would work for east and west theaters? I'm a bit involved right now with Crab_02 on the F-4 mods, but the India-Pakistan campaign keeps popping into my head. Anyone made an updated version of that Tiger striped Mig-21? Thanks, Mike
  4. I too am very sorry that any time this conflict is brought up, harsh words are spoken. I simply find these two aerial battles fascinating in that it brought some interesting 60s-vintage fighters into conflict. I am an aviation enthusiast, and a bit of a historian and rivet counter. Having no political leanings, I would gladly play both sides. Sorry this is so upsetting to some. If I have to - I'll do my best to develop this alone, and when I'm done, I'll be sure to share it with no one because it might cause hurt feelings... Go figure.
  5. It's been a year since the last post on this thread - has anyone been working on an India -Pakistan campaign? There are a few new planes out now - the Gnat and Marut, plus several Mig-21 mods. I still would have loved a campaign to play either side for both the 65 and 71 conflicts, plus terrains for both East and West theaters. I'd still love to fly that tiger striped Mig-21 in some missions or a campaign. Same for PAF F-86s, F-104s, and Marut. All these planes are just calling out for a campaign! Would love to fly both sides. Thanks, Mike D.
  6. I'm very happy with the terrains, effects, visual models. Hate to see it just get more graphically intensive - we'll all be forced into newer video cards and faster processors. My vote is for realistic air-to-air refueling, a fully depressable gunsight, and perhaps a more realistic navigation system with TACAN/ILS - but that's getting away from the "light sim" design I guess. Mike D.
  7. Count me in - I like the simulated version as it appears in YAP2 and here as an add-on mod, and I would like it even more if it was incorporated for real in a patch for the existing TW sims. Mike D.
  8. Very nice textures - looks super real. One of my favorite...ummm...oh well, nice job.
  9. I can't find any information on an IR-guided version of the AIM-26B, or licence-built by Saab RB-27. Could be just a nose cone stuck onto a museum piece. This is a nice add-on for the soon-to be released F-102A though! The AIM-26B was used in Southeast Asia on deuces of the 509th FIS - one or two on the center rails. Seen on USAFE deuces and several ANG units also. The nuc version reportedly by ADC. One of the first units to receive the missile was the 482nd FIS which shifted to Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis and loaded up the nucs there. Are you planning a new AIM-4A/C also? Thanks for the add-on, Mike
  10. O.K. I admit is is a bias - would really like to read more real from Harrier drivers about what they really think about the plane and the occasions it was used in combat. It is always easy to find a pro and con opinion about an airplane. But also be careful about saying that "no other airplane could have done a particular job"...there are any number of possible airplanes who could do a particular job. Want to fly off a short deck, stay on station for a long time, and haul a bunch of iron while doing that...the survivors of ejections in NVN/Laos were glad to have Skyraiders on station! Maybe the Marines should have bought A-10s for CAS...carry 16,000 lbs a lot further.... Not meaning that we should reopen the Douglas Skyraider production line, but just using an example of capabilities and possibilities. Sorry I stepped on Harrier fan's toes...my apologies. Me
  11. Can't begin to try to figure why this airplane was purchased in any numbers by Britain - the idea of supporting and actually using such an airplane from an FOB like a road or schoolyard is someone's fantasy... but my guess is that it has lots to do with politics rather than informed reason. A technical marvel it may be, but so is the B-2 and B-1 for that matter, and they should have never have been built or purchased in any number either. The USAF should have kept F-111s... Mike
  12. Not meaning to hijack this thread (well, I guess I do..), but this airplane has to be my least favorite of all time - it should NEVER have been purchased by the U.S. Marine Corps - it's vertical ability is zero with any type of reasonable weapons loadout, it blows out a HUGE plume of exhaust which is a magnet to anything IR-guided (check out losses during Desert Storm - it had to be withdrawn to behind the lines to keep every one from getting shot down), it's slow, carries next to nothing for ordnance, it's accident rate has been horrendous since it's difficult and dangerous to fly low and slow - and on and on. It's great to amuse the kiddies at airshows, but the Marine Corps should have kept the Phantom to drop iron and fire on the bad guys when it was really needed. I actually know someone who was on the development team for the AV-8 for the Marine Corps, and we don't get along well. I have never even flown it in the TW series.... Mike D.
  13. Could not agree more - EVERYONE should buy this! It's all very well done, and everyone should appreciate the hard work that went into it. I have always been a supporter of John and the YAP team members, and am in no way affiliated with them. It's just a super idea that I wish I had thought of first! Too bad he received such poor treatment in the forums on occasion just because it was a payware product. I don't get it - people shell out $20-30 for a single MS flight Sim Cessna or King Air and think nothing of it. Can't beat your value for a buck with YAP and mission sets. Mike D.
  14. That looks VERY nice! post it by all means! Mike D.
  15. A very welcome addition to the SEA War stable - very nice mod that was awaited by myself for a very long time. Thanks very much. Looks great! Mike D.
  16. Pfalz D.III Skins

These really look nice, and the Pfalz is my favorite WWI acft. Are these submitted yet for public download? Thanks again for all the hard work. Mike D.
  17. There you all go! A good mod - both. Thanks you guys.
  18. O.K. Ant, thanks from everyone. I'll post it this afternoon after work. It really is a must-have! Mike
  19. See 2007 thread with Sundowner's posts: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...p;hl=rocket+pod
  20. Kevin, I have this mod - think I received it from Sundowner. I can post it here but it probably needs permission from whoever created it. Would not want to hurt anyone's feelings! Mike Druzolowski
  21. Another superb modeling job! Nice work... Mike
  22. A question about F-106

No limitations that I remember in the Dash One on weapon release airspeeds, but the classified stuff may have more info than I had access to. MPD
  23. An ongoing Phantom II project I've been working on is correct and detailed pylon/rails for the F-4, lately with the kind help of Crab_02. This is close to release as an add-on for existing WOV Phantoms, but I was looking for just a little more feedback from anyone who is interested. I have made the pylon setup as a separate weaponstation entry in the pull-down weapon selection list. It will require you to know what you want to load for ordnance first, then a corresponding pylon setup selected in the pull-down menu. I will enclose diagrams to clarify the choise. Select the wrong one, and you will have missiles/bomb racks sitting in space. I will enclose stock loadout.ini files which include the pylon setup. The weps entry can be done two ways - "Pylons A1" or perhaps a cryptic description in the small space available - "3Tnks,NoAAM" or "2Wngtnks,2AIM-4", or something to that effect. My question is: Is this just way too complex for most folks to bother with? The only other option would be to make multiple airplanes - each with its own pylon setup. I'd appreciate any feedback on this. Looks pretty good on screen, but just may not be worth bothering with for evryone. Thanks for any feedback, Mike D.
  24. Thanks for the replies you guys. Yes of course, the rack can be selected in the new loadout.ini for wingmen or you in a scripted mission. But if you fly a random mission and wish to change loadout, you need to select the correct combo or it looks goofy... Hardcoding it is beyond me though. Just curious if anyone had any thoughts that this was going to be more of a pain than the accuracuy is worth - in which case I won't bother putting it out for everyone. Mike
  25. Sundowner has this mod already I think. Let me see if we can get it released for everyone to enjoy. Mike
