  1. What i do is re-install everything and make an independent mod folder in thich i delete what i don't want before reinstalling, appart for the choice of objects, the terrain is very important. You have the choice, particles or objects, the more objects you have the more your machine have to work to crunch numbers, with added effects you can have less objects so your processor and memory can support your graphic card efficiently. I just put a mission together, a raid on an airfield with at least 100 aircrafts meeting in a very small time frame and airspace, strikes on the runway, comm, fuel tanks, controls center, amo bunkers etc. I had two flight of BUFF but i had to delete them. The mission runs good and it's incredibly intense with explosion all over (if you chose to tour above the airfield), because in the scenario, we (a flight of F-8J) are wipping out a brand new Squadron of Mig-21Cs. We arrive precisely when they are lining up for take off and it's a hell of a dogfight because there are 4 other flights of Mig (17 and 21) coming to help and despite the damages on the runway those we don't get on the ground manage to take off... Since i added extra effects for the pyrotechnic it's even more spectacular, i even drop some GBU-24 when we arrive and the sky is full of targets in no time and stays so for some time, everyone goes winchester.

  3. Now that i have been playing around a bit, i intend to contribute a little for the new year... Although it is a topic which has recently been covered by some members already, my pick is the Mirage F-1. But to make it interesting, i'll make it an AdlA CR/CT with full choice of Squadron markings in the past decade versions, including upgrades in avionics, ECMs, protection suite and diverse systems. Obiously it hate to start with a little research work but i got a very good library near-by, and what i really need to do now is to figure what are the standards used in this game for a proper, good looking model. Some studied ideas will be to include the F-14 FIRE EFFECT for the Ejection seat, weapon loads, Tchad deployment versions etc... All sugestions will be welcome. Progress is damned slow, i haven't touched Max for a decade now, and it's a little challenge to find my marks back, also the material i got is not as accurate compared to what i was used to in the Cinema Industry... But here is the developement, i work on the cockpit now... ----- From the cross-sections to the 3D views dimentions are different, so it's a little difficult to make them fit together, i guess i'll have to get creative.

Yes, i'm an airfan in general and love a lot of different aircrafts, but i have to admit i have some sort of fascination for the "Cruze" and i remember seen one of the last Marine Nationale F-8 FN in the Grey-Blue colour, doing a loop above my home in Britany. Quite a spectacle. It is also my favourite to fly in SF2 so far after trying Mirages, Kfir, F-4, Migs etc, i prefer the stock F-8 J, my favourite sport being taking on the Migs with the guns, and i have to admit this F8J also looks beautiful, like the real thing, i' llook at the possibility to switch its flight envelop to the F-8FN when i have time if possible at all... Now that's what i call fun.

Here is the first workshop shot, i will work using the Industrial method by using subset assembly, starting with front fuselage, cockpit, seat etc. I intend to use the Martin Baker Mk10 and add to it the Ejection Seat Mod by CA_Stary. ---- The most difficult so far is to harmonize the sizes and proper XYZ coordinates of the maps, i havent used Max for ages but i'm getting (back) there little by little...

  11. Thank you guys for your infos. It is important to me as i used to work in CG, but doing 3D for the Cinema Industry is a little bit different, no such issue as low poly count or limited texture sizes there... If anyone knows the poly count share between the aircraft and copit/external loads this would also be useful. I will post screenshots of the workshop regularly in this topic for infos. Cheers.
  12. Thanks for the tip, as you can see the FX 570 is not that weak, i just set the Antialiasing to 32 and will see if i get any significant fall in frame rates... ---

Actually, my wingmen are generally far better than me in A2G wit htext book attacks and all, they are not as good in A2A though, even the whole flight would end up with no weapon fired if you let them, the AI seems to be reacting to orders while left on its own it might not be doing much more than figuration. Using the vsual targeting and "attack my target" order works fine.
  14. My Workstation is configured for CAD, equiped with a Quadro FX570 which supports CATIA/3DS Max etc and is great also for gaming, but i got some curious effects in games. Which settings would work best in SF2? Happy New year to everyone. Cheers.
  15. There are so many SAM launch i have to jink all the time but by doing so i end up at tree level, after a vertical dive and high-g resource, doing this without a good visual clue is a little bit tricky... ----- -----Using the wing leveler is useful for looking at the map or doing the radio...
  16. @SkateZilla Your package doesn't seems to be causing me the same issues, basically, i tried the pyrotechnic full-on Hollywood, didn't keep it, but this one is definitively doing the trick. Thanks. Here are screenshots of the probme i encountered... ---- Looks like ONE particular emitor is causing the probme, the second one doesn't... ----That's a tad better...

Well. i'm much more after the terrain and objects that the effects, this "block" glitches is the only problem, for the rest the graphics are gorgeaous and i run the game maxed out with no loss of frame rate, appart in accelerated mose where it's a bit chuncky. Now i'm going to try to mix the terrain with other add-ons and see which is really causing the problem.
  18. Hey guys! Thanks for your support. I looks like DirectX 10 have solved the problem, i cannot configure my machine for gaming as i use CATIA, 3D SMax etc. This card has more potential than it looks but it doesn't have the "Gamer" options, Programers options instead, then after complete reinstal i figured there is a glitch in one of the add-on i used, "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam Air and Ground Expansion Pack"; precisely on the files Explosion1, Fire1, and Smoke tga. Other than that this pack is great, the level of realism is very high, i just flew an escort mission and detection of camouflaged Mig-17s vs the Jungle background would have been extremely difficult without the game helpers... So i will swap these for the original files and let you know, because for Vietnam Missions this Add-on is recommanded (apart for the glitche). Sorry for the double post... Happy New year!

  20. Thanks for your reply. My card is NVidia so i don't know if it's comparible but the fire effect such as exploding targets and fire comes as squared blocs, not smooth effects. I will install DirectX 10 immediately. I have no clue.
  21. I have enjoyed this game so far and try to figure some ways to improve it. One little detail, to me the wingmen are far from being as efficient as they would be in real life, i take for reference the numerous videos i use for learning tactics on my favorite type (The magnificnat F-8), mostly the Youtube Serie, Dogfights: Last Gunfighter : Dick Schaffert - Part 1 of 2, which is great top learn tactics, the F-8 strength and weaknesses as well as those of the adversary Dogfights: Last Gunfighter : Dick Schaffert - Part 1 of 2 ... What i would suggest is a mode where one must progress from the rank of Ltn, as No 4, up to Major as Number one in a complete wing, i think the wingmen needs very specific flying, tactic and radio skills to get there and i'd love to be able to fly formation and have a reactive leader (radio calls). If you think this is possible please elaborate... Regards to all and Happy New Year. Dare2

  23. Not very spectacular, but a few tricks i use to carry over the Escort mission properly. First i will use my radar to detect, locate and ID the flight to be protected. This allows me to keep track of them and using the map, position my flight tactically when the adversary are approaching. Time to act... Another Escort mission, i prefer those to Sweep as they involve protection of other aircraft, more chalenging tactically. I find the F-8 very well made, pleaseant to fly and performant, to tell the truth i really prefer it to the F-4. Here's my No4 shortly after launch. Merry X-Mass and Happy New year to all.
  24. I don't know, it is just an idea, i keep loosing wingmen and sometimes get little cover from them, they warn me though, so i figured i would be better flying as a winglam myself and earn my wings/...
  25. Hey! I have quiet a good training with 3D S Max, modeling and maping but never worked for the game industry, i was in the adverts and Cinema business instead. I started to modify the data, weapon (AIM-9 H, 20MM_M39 gun) and skins on a F-11 F1 and would like to do a full "What if" F-11 F2 modif, this might include wingtip launchers, cockpit modifs (RWR, F-8 HUD), ejector seat, modernized avionics and flight envelop/weapon loads twicking, and eventually missions adapted to the new type. Could any of you please direct me on the appropriate topics? I'll try to post a few screenshoots later but so far nothing spectacular, only a greyscale "LowViz" version of the VF21 which i renamed Dragon Riders until i find out more about the USN Squadron and create a complete story line, i tried this to figure if it was working and i prefer the two tone grey to the original coloured one.
