When I was studying for my Library degree, one of my lectures stated that "There's no such thing as common sense." I have to agree with her. There are a tonne of dumb people where I live (you just have to see the way we drive here!) and what I would do with my common sense, and what they'd do with theirs are two very distinct things. But I know when I've done something, best thing is to man up and not be a little bitch about it by avoiding responsibility.

Is stealth possible?
SayethWhaaaa replied to i90807065's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hey Me! Last I heard was that the radar cross section variable that allowed you to define an aircraft's RCS was disabled as of patch 3 or 4. AFAIK, it was supposed to be one of the things sorted with the next patch. No idea if or when it's coming though -
Su-27 variants?
SayethWhaaaa replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Variants are usually adaptations of existing designs to different roles to provide an expanded capability for an existing platform. An upgrade is something that allows a current platform to do what it does, just better. But it can also provide an expansion of roles it can undertake too. The introduction of multimode radars allowed interceptor variants of some aircraft to undertake strike roles as well. As for the Su-27 family, some are modernisations, some are complete redesigns, but compared to the early models, current standard aircraft look vastly different to their progenitors. eg. The Su-27/ Su-35 gap is a complete redesign, various systems have been moved, new ones integrated, several design changes to take further advatage of the basic design (weight reduction, more advanced or revised construction techniques, etc), introduction of canards, fly-by-wire avionics, new landing gear, associated electrical and hydraulic systems, a revised fuel system, complete cockpit revision and so on and so on. The Su-30 is a great example of this as it's incorporated a modular design approach that has allowed almost every type to be tailored for each specific operator dependant on their respective needs. The VVS Su-30 will look and operate differently compared to the Su-30MKV which is different again to the Su-30MKM which yet again is quite different to the Su-30KMI. In theory this approach then makes the airframe more flexible to installation of foreign avionics, something which has traditionally hindered Russian military exports (that and that Russia has been pretty rigid about being the only source of operator maintenance and support in the past). -

Alrighty so we're looking: 1.Fresh installs of WoV. 2. Patched to the current patch 8.30.06 3. If Hyperlobby, make sure it too is the current version, same for Hamachi if we use that. as for a team speak there's this one, the address for which I think you can get from here at CA: 38.101.153.82:6200 (That's teamspeak 2RC2) 4pm Pertherner time means half 6 CST, 7pm EST...? Sound about right? I should be home by 7pm CST (Half 4 West, 7:30 EST) so I'll hop on as soon as I get me a cuppa... Have I missed anything? -

...and we're already working the modelers harder than sweatshop workers. Just the other day Bibbolicious passed out from exhaustion (although that could be because he went overboard on his bday! ) -
MIG-31 UPDATE
SayethWhaaaa replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Plus Syria was in the market for them. I'm not sure if the contract was signed for the delivery, or if it was an MOU preceeding the contract signing. -

Is SimHQ down again?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Mannie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, I'm guessing its the old buggy one that was released a year or two ago. Another user here was kind enough to email a copy to me but it was detected as a virus and neutered by my email account! And being a former Librarian, I'm particular about my search engines and theirs sucks balls! I mean there are universal elements to (decent) alphanumeric search engines that it doesn't even use... -

Its National Back Up Your 3rd Wire Stuff Day
SayethWhaaaa replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Confucius say "Man who go through airport metal detector sideways is going to (Capital of Thailand)." Also, USB/External HDs are much better to backup. Since I got my new DVD drive, it only reads around 1 in 3 DVDs now... You guys might wanna watch out for that when backing up. -
Is SimHQ down again?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Mannie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The only reason I've had to use SimHQ is to get the Tornado F.3 for SFP. Even then, most places I can access the web from can't seem to find that page and even then it's 50/50 as to if the link is broken. I'll get the F.3... one day... -
Or Gretzsky when he was an Oiler! Happy bday whippersnapper!

Holy crap dude, you're almost twice my age!! Big happy bday guys!

Mig-17 problem
SayethWhaaaa posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Just re-installed my WOE/WOV merged install, patched, weapons pack all sorted... but for some reason my Mig-17s (unmodded) have disappeared. The folders are still there in the objects/aircraft folder... just not ingame. Anyone come across this before?? -
Mig-17 problem
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, I'll definitely check that although I think it'll be fine. What threw me about this was I'd cut and pasted it into SFG and it worked fine. I'll try a re-install, re-patch etc and see how it goes. If it doesn't work then I'll prolly just use individual installs for SFG/WOV/WOE. -
Can someone please make a F/A-22 mod? PLEASE?
SayethWhaaaa replied to N.Forsythe's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series Modding/Skinning Chat
Like I said before dude, you've got better chances with the SFP series or with MSFS. Rugg's right, there just aren't enough moddlers to go around and they already have a huge "to do" list. -
Your desktop cursor doesn't have a tail does it? You can change the setting in the control panel. I used to have mine set to have a tail years ago but it screws with just about every game (or did at the time).

Carrier Landings?
SayethWhaaaa replied to CobraA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
At the moment AFAIK, there is no way to target the carrier (although you can view the carrier with F6 or F8, can't remember). Are you having problems finding the carrier when returning from a hop? The waypoints are static but the carrier is not (hence there being no carrier when you return). I've found that if you fly near to the carrier and then use the waypoint skip, the carrier resets to where it should be. -

No, this is supposed to be an attempt at making a production model for the average Jo... who has $146k to throw down. I wonder if they can get away with classifying it as a sports utility...?
