that was meant to read COLD WAR

Yeah, I'd heard they were making a new one, but it sorta dropped off the radar for me... By the way, i suppose it helps if i actually put the link to the Mod site here: www.cold-war-crisis.de

Odd aircraft - Dornier Do 200 for example

Yeah, it would have been cool to see what effect a cheap yet tailored CAS aircraft with some stealthing characteristics would have had on the battlefield, huh? -

Haha, yeah, didn't the even copy the interior fuselage colour scheme to the enth degree too? I heard a story of one of the three B-29 that landed in USSR had a certain type of nickel paint or something and when this particular plane was produced, they'd run out of it in the US so only the interior from nose to the mid section blisters had been painted (the section to the tail gunner being a light green I think. When the first Sov Tu-4s were built, they painted the interiors in exactly fashion because the workers were told to copy everything. They didn't ask question (because doing so was not a good career move) so they copied it, rivet for rivet... -
That's gold!

Wasn't this one of the competitors to the Skyraider? It's fugly, but Phantom fugly, as in: "while you're staring at my unsightliness, I'm going to drop four tonnes of ordinance on you!" Cheers Fates. Yeah, they were captured from survivors of crashes or forced landings and pieced back together from about 40 wrecks. I think they got something like a dozen, but there were Liberators used to. I know they were both used to determine tactics in attacking bomber formations, but there's some mystery as to whether the Liberators were used in covert ops like the B-17s. Apparantly the Japanese nabbed some Early to Mid model Forts too.. Don't know if there are photos though... -
Mirage 2000...

Bring on the fanfic! I've got a few other projects at the moment (I just started with another local FreeSpace 2 mod team) so I'll make the 111 Agg skin a high priority when I get some free time. It wasn't a new skin as such, just a retextured version of an existing one. I'll still have to get permission to post it, I just need to make it look a little less... raw. -

Actually, the Viggen's a mean bastard when used in a CAS role (maybe it just the way I use it). It kinda reminds me of a European Thud equivalent, but with more finese that brute force, If it helps, I started making an aggressor skin for the F-111 a while ago and I didn't realise until later that it resembles the grey/blue, white nose scheme some Fencers use. I need to get off of my dot and clean it up, but my workload's a bit shyte at the mo... Aww crap, my spellings off... screw spell checker, I'm going to bed! -
That and avoiding the bickering...

Larry Hama wrote the comic for years and it was pretty good, a little corny from time to time, but pretty good nonetheless. I mean he won a host of awards for it. Once he left, it turned to shyte in under a year, even after the Transformers crossover. If there was a screenplay, and it avoids the "real Americn hero" crap which was a byproduct of the old war and corny as hell (by the way, I sincerely mean no offense to you United States folks), especially in the cartoon. IMHO, if they make a serious attempt at remaking the Joe theme, not a half arsed attempt just to sell a bunch of toys, (I'm talking your Bourne Identity serious as opposed to floptastic Alien vs Predator attempt), it might work well... But Lord Jedi and TX3RNOBILL are right, it could just as easily go the other way... ...and I hope bloodywell they don't rebadge it as "Action Force" in the UK!! Those are just my thoughts, not that I was a fan or nuthin'

SayethWhaaaa replied to HiggyGT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That all depends on what it is you like doing. One tip though, you can copy the entire WoE folder over and have separate installs for different eras you'd like to represent. You only need to have installed any of the SFP/Wings over series once to be able to do this. This allows you to say, mod a version specifically for WWII aircraft, WWII weapons, vehicles etc. Another for modern era aircraft etc. The bonus is, so long as you have a vanilla install (one thats unedited) you'll automatically have a backup of most every file should things go pear-shaped with any modding. Oh, and since you're new, there's no F-22 yet, no Frogfoot, no Fencer... there are a few more aircraft that haven't been made yet, but there's an absolute buttload of stuff out there already. These are the more commonly asked questions. Make sure one of your next stops is here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=99 This is the knowledge base. We've (that is everyone but me ) tried to come up with easy to follow instructions about how to edit what and where and these threads deal with the majority of modding subjects that you'll probably face when starting but if there's something that's puzzling you or you flat out don't get something, post up and we'll try to help (or at least make it sound like we know what we're talking about ) -

That's damn fine work thus far Z. Very ballsy choice of vehicle too! -
But there is a distinct possibility that Israel may have recieved them, whether they used them in combat is another thing entirely. I mean its entirely plausible they were disassembled for study, it wasn't an uncommon practice with advanced Luftwaffe aircraft post war. I've heard this from several sources now but I'm with wrench I don't think you'll be getting any info from the IDF any time soon. An Me-262 in comtemporary IAF/SF colours would look pretty cool though...

Weapon station Loading?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Tantobot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I noticed something like that too FastCargo, only I found it by mistke. I have my JASDF F-4EJs configured with two AMRAAMS on the outer sidewinder rails and a pair of sidewinders on the inner ones. I used a pair a while ago to test some new modded missiles I built and didn't alter the siderwinder racks at all, so when the sortie started I had the dual AMRAAM/Siderwinder combo. HOWEVER, what threw me was that in the loudout screen menus, it showed the racks having either 4x sidewinders, or as being empty (I get the empty load more often for fuel tanks on certain modded aircraft rather than weapons) I'm just going by what FC said above and from what I've learned, I figure it should load whatever you have configured in your LOADOUTS.ini by default (if you don't change any of the weapons displayed when in the loadout menu) except for the individual pylons you choose to alter... does that sound about right? -
Weapon station Loading?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Tantobot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Most stations are grouped in pairs, so if you allow one hardpoint to use a targeting pod, the other will be empty. I don't think there are any hassles with it. It's not like LOMAC where unbalanced loadouts affect your flight characteristics. You can change the hardpoint groupings to allow you to use pods and still use weapons too. [CenterlineStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=5 <<----------------------This is the group number. Change this to make it a solo or paired HP. StationGroupID=6 Just remember, you can only have up to 6 seperate weapons groupings. This makes aircraft like the phantom a bit tricky since it has something 8 underwing hardpoints (4xmain, 4xsidewinder) and 5 fuselage hardpoints (4xsparrow, 1xcenterline) I usually have to choose between having a group of 3xSparrow and 1x Sparrow/ECM groups or alternatively having dual sidewinder/AMRAAM loads similar to the F-15 loadout. -
An Observation
SayethWhaaaa replied to Tantobot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah, the reason for that is that when you select an aircraft to fly, only weapons that are compatable for that aircraft load. eg. You select the F-5E for some ground pounding, but want some Tomcats in your flight providing top cover. The weapons systems that are designated available for the F-5E (IRM,BOMB,RP, etc) will be available for you to use in the sortie, but not such systems as the Sparrow, Phoenix or AMRAAM (SAHM, AHM respectively) which the Tomcat uses. To get around this, you can add these systems to each plane's data.ini (eg F-5E_Data.ini) This will allow you the option of mounting them on your aircraft whether you use them or not, but more importantly, it allows you to fly with mixed aircraft groups with the appropriate weapons available for an array of aircraft. My example is a modded Navalised F-4E that I use that has the capacity to carry and fire the Phoenix AAM. Now I personally don't like the asthetics of seeing an AIM-54 mounted on a phantom, and therefore don't use it, but it does allow me to split my flight to allow for (in a flight of 4 for example) 2 Phantoms for CAS/Strike etc and 2 Tomcats for cover. Another side effect of adding weapons is that now I have a Skyraider that can use TV and Laser guided missiles... (But I still can't get the Skyhawk figured out!! Go figure) -
I sign and pantomime a lot more therefore reducing my carbon output. I'd be carbon neutral were it not for all the indian food I eat! :stink: I'm sorry guys, it's my achiles heal. I'm simply unable to "cut myself off..."

Come on, we all remember the crap the "Save the Whales" types copped back then, plus, to add to their uphill battle, there wasn't the saturation in the media then like there is today. A lot of it was based on the "No Nuclear" stance they were lumped together and considered to be "tree hugging hippies" and left to do whatever it is they do while we face more pressing issues... like flag burning and other mostly pointless topics . (TANGENTThe one tangible truth of flag burning is this: Ignore the cloth, ignore the symbol, ignore the expression of freedom or rebellion; You burn something someone loves, you better be prepared to get your ass whooped'!) There's a big smoke screen being thrown up by 'interested parties' in terms of the "Myth" of global warming, there are already conclusive studies proving that there is a definite link between the causes and the effects of industrial pollution and the nay sayers aren't producing cogent arguments in return (Just have a look at amateurish attempt by The Great Global Warming Swindle for example), they're just arguing for their stance in louder voice. But this is all just BS. The real issue should be how we're dealing with the threat, not who's right or less right During the cold war, the West didn't simply fail to prepare to the potential threat of a Soviet nuclear strike by suggesting "it's a myth" or "it doesn't exist". There was a lot to lose should one prove wrong. And look at how western economies around the world adapted to the situation. It wasn't the end of the world, many countries overcame the situation and adapted to it. It can be done, the trick lies somewhere in being able to keep existing (or close to existing) levels of productivity without disrupting employment and other pillars of respective economies and also in allowing emerging/booming nations like Brazil, China and India to continue their growth unimpeded (or again, close enough to it) or without instilling the feeling as though they're being punished by being obliged to use much greener methods when most, if not all western nations reached their respective positions without the same limitations. Everyone needs to chip in, but like with any undertaking, it requires just a step to begin, even baby steps. It's much better than simply agreeing to disagree and doing nothing at all or announcing voluntary, non-enforceable initiatives to infinitely smaller targets that achieve the image of appearing to something without having done a thing. Something, the likes of which Sir Humphrey Appleby would have been proud. ...or I could just say "screw it" and blame you Northern Hemisphere heathens for polluting my world! Just kidding!

F-16I Sufa Version 2.0
SayethWhaaaa replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Hehe, sorry, don't mean to be giving the impression about being impatient about the block 60, I'm sure there are plenty of people who are. I'm keen because I made a mod of a blk 52 (called a blk 54 for lack of creativity) for a lan my mate was setting up, and I figure cfts mean two hardpoints could potentially be freed up, therefore, more munitions could be carried... ...in which case, I have some long overdue payback coming his way, particularly, his AFB! Plus, I'm kind of interested to see if I can integrate this with an F-2... -

How to use LGB ?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Luiz Carlos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Anything from F-4s, F-16s, F-18s (Sniper, LANTIRN, the other one... It's late, I can't remember ), MIG-21 LanceRs, Jaguars, Tornado GR1s in theory new model and modernised OA-4s and F-5EMs, basically anything capable of strapping a laser designator to a hardpoint. I've done it with an A-1 Skyraider. But as for designating for other aircraft in-game, I'm pretty sure it's not possible. Would be great if I'm wrong though.
