"You do not belong in the U.S. Military!" Well Duh! Maybe it's the whole beer drinking, girl chasing, lack of wanting to excercise, wanting to sleep in late, thing that's holding me back. You know, being a bum! Maybe the Canadian armed forces will take me, I mean, I'm a sniper with a hockey stick... Hmmmm...

Huh? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention... Is it my round...?

I agree, but with a nickname like double ugly, who can argue? I used to like how other navy pilots would rib Intruder pilots about how the pointy part of the plane was supposed to be at the front. Has anyone seen the Discovery docco called Battle of the X-planes? In a nutshell it chronicles the development of both contenders up until the final selection process. It's pretty insightful and packed with all sorts of info about these planes but also has quite a bit of CG and coneptual footage and with different paint schemes like what Shin was talkng about. Seeing some X-32s performing a stol take off from a road/highway runway looked pretty cool. I haven't seen it for a while but I'm interested to see the bit on the pit again, and I thought I remember watching one of the designers talking about it's low observable characteristics when he made some comment about LO hardpoints and RAM coated weapons to help reduce radar return when there's high wing loading... -

Wrench is saying have an individual install for your WW2 install and an individual (and seperate) install for all your modern aircraft/ground objects. This way, you won't have to alter any service dates for your aircraft/ground objects per se, however the downside to this is it takes up more HD space (each install is around 2 gig). Also, a second install requires less tinkering. You just add the appropriate weapons/aircraft/vehicles/effects etc for whatever era you want that particular install to represent. This prevents conflicts with different era weapons and especially aircraft. -

Aircraft...the same list...?

It should. Depending on what year you choose to fly (if you're flying single mission) it should randomly select aircraft that are available up to that year. Example: I want to fly the F-4-35 Phantom which in my installation is only available up to 1975. So when I fly it in 1975, only Mig-21s, Mig-23s, Mig-25s and so on will usually be my opponents, but No Mig-29s or Su-27s will appear as they won't be available until 1985 onwards (roughly). If that makes any sense. If you look in the knowledge base, there'll be a section on editing ini's and other aircraft data and this will be covered in there. -

I'm just curious, but have there been any releases of Lomac FC without the Starforce protection? I've been dying to play FC but the copy I bought has Starforce protection and it will not run at all, despite my removing every trace of dvd burning software I have... -

What's wrong with this video...?
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
Cool vid, huh? Yeah, it's a frame rate issues like BUFF said. I just thought it was cool. How often do you see a coinsidence like rotors and framerates syncing? Just so you know if you're confused, jet powered choppers are much louder and more jet sounding. And this one's got that sexy Hind sound... (no, that's not a fart joke ) -

One thing that has proven true has been that if an airplane's ugly, it usually performs well. look at the Phantom, the A-7 Crusader, the A-6 Intruder, the BUFF, The Bear, the Frogfoot and so on... -

Helicopter Sound effects
SayethWhaaaa posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've been playing around with some sound bytes, effects, audio recordings etc because I'm looking to customise some of the helicopter engine effects. I've recorded and kept a few that I like and use with some of the choppers in my current installation. But I was curious as to what the limits to the sound loops are. ie, is there a file size that's too big, or a loop length that's too long etc? Also, are there any issues (say, copyright for example) with posting sound effects as I've been bitten in the ass once when using generic samples once and people can get pretty tetchy with effects since they can sound similar to a lot of other effects. -
Especially Stealth, planes don't fly that close unless they need to be in the shot! Oh, and the B-3 wasn't made in the 50s through 70s though

Bust this: http://wcbstv.com/watercooler/watercooler_..._134204642.html I remember we used to joke about this kinda thing in school, but no one ever actually DID it! I mean... come on, seriously. That's just a bit dopey. Like looking down the barrel of a gun to see what's jammed in there...

Wasn't there another SAC movie based around the B-52? My pops was watching it on Foxtel the other night, I think it has a very similar name. Strangely enough, Hotshots fits this criteria since they used Folland Gnats... Also, BAT21 is the only film I know of that has an A-3 in it, you know, for you trainspotters *EDIT* Ooh, how can we forget D.A.R.Y.L. with the SR-71? I remember seeing another really bad film involving the SR-71. Some kind of made for TV tripe with SR-71 being some pseudo spaceship with 4 crew. I just remember it sucked bigtime!

WOE carrier camp, vector to home base, wrong location?

I had the same problem with WoV. I think that the waypoint is considered static, even though you're launching from a moving object (which is doing, what? 15 kts? usually 65kph for me). The carrier moves constantly so it should just be a straight line from when you launched. I'm not sure since my carrier's not working anymore Are there any in-game stall issues if the carrier's moving slower or is stationary? -
I always thought the one liners from Airplane (I knew it as Flying High, dunno what the story with that was) with things like: "Surely you can't be serious?" "Yes I am, and don't call me Shirley." and one of my favourites: "She's very ill, we have to get her to a hospital." "A hospital? What is it?" "It's a building with lots of sick people in it, but that's not important right now." I used to love the Jive speak, especially the translation for "golly"
