Do you agree with list? Top 10 Aerial Movie Dogfights
SayethWhaaaa replied to Nesher's topic in The Pub
I'd willingly sit through any Val Kilmer or George Clooney Batman than watch that one again! Firing 3 wingtip sidewinders? Gimme a break, Doug Masters! -

Convert conventional air to ground missile guidance to ASM
SayethWhaaaa replied to tiopilotos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
By ASM you're talking Anti-ship, yeah? If that's the case, it should just be a matter of switching the guidance type of the weapon to "command guided" in the weapons editor, and then ensuring your aircraft has 'CGR' added to the specific pylon like so: (using the F-111C wing store as an example) [LeftWingStationOutboard] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 StationGroupID=1 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-3.253,-4.0,-0.219 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=2700 AllowedWeaponClass=BOMB,LGB,TER,MER,FT,EOGR,EOGB,TLR,CGR,LGR <---------------- AttachmentType=USN,USAF,AUSTRALIA ModelNodeName=soportes_izqui_exter MovingPylon=TRUE RotatingPylon=FALSE PylonMass=163.2 PylonDragArea=0.03 FuelTankName=F-111_FuelTank Remember you're subject to weight restrictions, so if the missile weight is too high, it won't show up in the list, if you try to load it in-game. -
First combat deployment for the F-22 as well, apparently.

737
SayethWhaaaa replied to russouk2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yeah, that's the one I was talking about, Veltro's model. It just has it's radome removed in that mod, I think. -
Mirage F.1 bombs side by side?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yeah, 2BR is the way to go. You can do it with the TER and specifying the load to carry only 2, though with certain aircraft, sometimes I have a mixture of one bomb below and one either left or right, instead of side by side. -

Isn't that 737 actually the E-767, but modded? -
Nice! You even snuck in a snap of a PC-6 Turbo Porter! That's one aircraft I miss seeing in Army Av colours here.

IAF SU-25 what-if?

I thought the IAF was Indian? Aren't the Israelis the IDF/AF? Or 'Air & Space Forces', or whatever, now? -
Russian Pilot Interviews
SayethWhaaaa replied to NeverEnough's topic in Military and General Aviation
I think that's a reasonably common reaction from both sides. Then again, you spend 50 years being told the other guy is the 'bad guy', it'd be hard to forget all of that animosity easily, especially given how the US and the Sovs drummed it in. -
Full scale rollout of Mitsubishi ATD-X F-3 Shinshin
SayethWhaaaa replied to MAKO69's topic in Military and General Aviation
Dimensionally, it's (supposed to be) roughly around the same size class as the F-35, thought it's weight is significantly lower and has a smaller internal volume. The cost is supposed to be significantly lower than the F-35 also. -

I don't disagree with you there. Malaysian Airlines has had a history of taking risks and cutting corners in pretty unacceptable ways (arguably) over the past decade. There has been talk in Asia-Pac aviation circles about a lax attitude in the company regarding safety vs efficiency, and it only being a matter of time before it caused or exacerbated a critical failure. MH370 exposed a lot of their internal failings, both for themselves, and the government, but it seems some of those attitudes haven't changed at all. The news here has been reporting that the aircraft was flying only 1000ft above the restricted airspace in the Ukraine. Sure, 33000ft seems sufficient, but when the restricted zone limit is 32000ft, it seems way, way too risky to even contemplate. The vast majority of civil traffic servicing the region has avoided the route entirely! It beggars belief that you'd even contemplate taking that kind of risk. In better news, the Ukrainians say they have detained 2 of the 3 people suspected of firing on the aircraft: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-07-19/ukraine-government-says-missile-expert-arrested-near-border/5608744

100 of the dead were health workers, analysts, researchers, etc on their way to an Aids conference in Melbourne. They're saying this is a devastating blow to Aids research too. The stupidity of firing on an airliner... it's unbelievable. I hope someone renditions the f*ck out of the perpetrators of this.

The US doesn't seem too concerned about protecting it's tech, considering Pakistan took shipments of brand spanking new Vipers and AIM-120C-5s only a few short years ago. You can guarantee detailed information about those and their systems including the P&W F-100s is now in Chinese hands, most likely via the ISI. That's a much bigger long term issue for the US, more so than if ISIS got their grubbies on some F-16s. ISIS doesn't have anyone capable of flying them, or maintaining them. They don't have the industrial base to reverse engineer them, and even if they did, it would take them decades at least, to create their own platforms. They can't even train anyone in any professional capacity in relation to the F-16s. The best they could hope for would be to sell it off to interested parties in Iran maybe, except that ISIS and the Iranians loathe each other. All the arms delay from Capitol Hill was, was political indecision and face-saving.

Battle of Britain modding faux-pas
SayethWhaaaa posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Can someone gimme a quick hand. I'm rebuilding a WOV build of BoB. I've followed the installation instructions exactly as outlined here: http://combatace.com/files/file/5246-battle-of-britain-campaign-pack-beta-v060a/ ...all planes are 'sploding as soon as loading is complete, making it unplayable-- in fact, it freezes all menu functions and yet the game continues as normal, so I can't even quit out, I have to jump back into the desktop and kill the program manually. Obviously I'm missing something here. Can anyone help me jog my memory to figure out what the issue might be? Kind Regards SW -
Battle of Britain modding faux-pas
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
In a previous build, I originally used WOE, but I couldn't find the patches preceding 083006 and ran into a few issues I thought might be patch related, which is why I tried WOV this time around. Are the final patches for WOE/V/SFP1 all-in-one or do I need the previous patches from '06, et al?
