Black Mesa - Half Life 1 Reimagined by Fans
SayethWhaaaa replied to JonathanRL's topic in The Bunker
Yeah, this has been a long time coming. I remember hearing about this around the same time that Classic Doom mod for Doom 3 started taking shape... -
Yeah, Boston Dynamics christened it Big dog years ago. The part where the guy shoves it with his foot just blew my mind. That's how my dog recovers from tripping, it's amazing! Checkout the BD website, there's some awesome stuff there! Petman and Sandflea are my personal faves! Check it out: http://www.bostondynamics.com/index.html

Finally Got an A-4 with a Sting
SayethWhaaaa replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Does the TW A-4G only have a token strike capacity? They had a fleet defence role, yes, but I know for a fact that the RAN's A-4Gs could move some mud! Seriously awesome piece of kit! -
...or they could maybe reassess their teachings to see if they are at all relevant to their time and society and not a throwback to a more archaic period. Maybe even lose this holier than thou, sanctimonious attitude as though they somehow know better than you. But I wouldn't hold my breath for either.

Goddamn fundie A-holes. He's tried this crap before, even threatening to attack an airport with parked US and RAAF aircraft. I'd like to have seen the Adgies turn a blind eye and let the US security deal with him. Now I'm a moderate. Compared to a lot of people here, I'm a weed smoking, gay marriage for whales loving, tree hugging hippie. I don't like how we got involved with certain conflicts, but to 'protest' like this requires some serious dumb, the kind you only find in religious fundamentalists, or a youtube comments section. If you need proof of his intellectual impediments, he insists he disarmed the helo, despite touching none of the weapons systems and missing the obvious gun looking thing completely (despite being roughly a metre away from it!). But what can you expect from a nutjob. They don't think. Ever. Queensland has a long history of throwing the book at people for even minor transgressions, I'm pretty sure they won't martyr him by giving him 10 years, but I'd be interested to see what he gets on top of his 200K fine. In an unrelated incident a few days after this, an ADF soldier suffered serious burns after his portable dunny exploded when he tried to have a smoke on the throne... -

X-wings? Tie Fighters?? Jesus Ch-- Jaffa Death Gliders?!?! Seriously, Death Gliders? You've gotta be taking the p*ss with such a crappy list of feeble vehicles. This is all you need: Kills everything between the ground and orbit and then becomes the boots on the ground you need to hold your objective. Case closed. Death gliders indeed... Bahahahahahaha! -
Math in public
SayethWhaaaa replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Fair call. All you have to do to see this is to fire up something like Aces High and it's huge disparity of aircraft per nation. At last count I think it was 48 US aircraft and sub-types vs 14 German and around 10 Japanese, much like how our community was say, 4-5 years ago. But that's by the by. Your T-38 was a fine example FC. Deal with it. -

McDonnell Douglas F-4E - The RAAF retain the Phantom!
SayethWhaaaa replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
This is a thing of beauty Spinners! Don't tease us with this!! It's a shame they had almost no air to air capacity in actual service. I know they undertook trials for the USAF with the AIM-7, but as far as I've been able to find out, they rarely, if ever carried AIM-9s. A high/low mixture of IIOs and the F-4E would have been a massive capability boost over the Mirage IIIO's barely functional AIM-9Bs and surprisingly short ranged Matra R530s and their 50/50 chance to hit from 10kms and out. Even with AIM-7Es, the Phantom would have provided an actual air defence capability in the 70s! I love it! -
Stoked to here they and the Macchi's will be back in the air again!

I'm willing to bet it's a choice between uneventful grey and boring grey... like just about every other C-17. -

What have you got against our long tradition of flamboyant, Fanta themed schemes?? That ARDU Fanta scheme is boss! Least it wasn't a Passiona theme. I think I did one a long time ago, in the days before SF2. Gonna have to see if I still have in the depths of my HD somewhere... -

Oooooh... Shame there's no IIIOD. But still, -
Did anyone catch this earlier in the week? After unloading and lightening the aircraft they attempted a departure. Apparently a lot of people weren't aware of the C-17's short field capability.

C-17 lands at wrong airfield
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
I noticed that too. Approaching from the South West, you'd just need to lose your landmarks or fly a bit too fast and you'd be over Macdill AFB and thinking POK was MAc in no time. Could they have had time to punch it when their wheels touched or are you committed to braking at that point? -
