So, Iranian Tomcats can fly after all
SayethWhaaaa replied to Gr.Viper's topic in Military and General Aviation
They've been cannibalising and manufacturing spares for a long time to keep the lion's share airworthy, but their biggest problem is their inability to manufacture all the components, particularly engines. The Saeqeh and Azarakhsh programmes have done a lot towards advancing Iranian knowledge in developing a capable aircraft manufacturing industry and probably has done more to keep the remaining 25 Tomcats and 60+ Phantoms in the air (and in the Phantom's case, incrementally upgraded) than anything else. But I do keep seeing these articles claiming the IRIAF has been covertly sourcing F-14 spares through several sources including Israel as recently as 2001, maybe even later which is odd considering... -

3 mins, huh? Still longer than a Kardashian marriage. -
Happy New Year!!! Especially to my new Chinese neighbour! She's hot!

I used to work with one, always awesome when her kids would come to meet her. Could never understand what they were saying! I asked her about this one time. She wasn't impressed. ** Warning, some unsavoury language in this ** Al Murray - Geordie Whale Song.

Let us know how you go with this Storm. I'm interested to see how it pans out. -

FM problems on Yak-141

There's a fix for this here: I used to get the same thing and roll right into the drink. This will fix it nicely. -
From what I heard on ABC today (a report from the US ABC no less! lol) was that he was navigating this passage at night, not using maps, not using radar, sonar or any other electronic means. He was navigating visually... at night. When the sky is black. On the ocean. Which is also black at night. No night vision goggles. Nothing. Blows me away that someone thinks they could feasibly do that with a cruise ship...

There's been a development... Cruise captain claims he 'fell into lifeboat' Incredible...

The gent from the Coast Guard wasn't taking any crap and he didn't need to do anything to "make him look bad". The Captain really did sound like he was farting about in the middle of a crisis...

Cheetah are easily the best of the Mirage family! Nothing comes close. Nothing! -

The TSR2 and the Avro Arrow are two of the great "What ifs". I must admit, I never particularly liked the TSR2 until I saw what Sundowner and the rest of you have been doing with it! -

If it hit service first (I think it might have just beaten the Pig in), it may have been the F-111 first. -

Love it Naz! I had a similar idea a while ago when tinkering around with a Cold War campaign set around a divided Germany in 2008. This was a scheme initially for use as a 60th anniversary of the GDR. Unfortunately, this is the only screencap I have of the Phoenix Splinter scheme. -

SayethWhaaaa replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
No, there should be one available for SFP1 in the downloads section. Have a look in he Modern aircraft section. -

SayethWhaaaa replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
From what I understand, you won't be able to convert it. It has something to do with the .lods used in the model not being recognised in the first generation of the Strike Fighters series. It can only be used in the SF2 generation of sims. -
That's my fear too. I don't think I've seen an 'airplane' movie since Battle of Britain that hasn't been screwed by major factual inaccuracies or dodgy CG or something... Still wanna see it though.

Seems to be the standard response to US aircraft tenders these days. One manufacturer wins, the other bitches about it while starting litigation... -

Do we have a "Decorum Editor"?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes, there is a profanity filter in use here. It doesn't replace text, that would require a manual edit, usually from a moderator. It acts like your standard language filter. -

It's the JMSDF FA-27C from Sentou Yousei Yukikaze. It and the Japanese carrier were released as a package as the F/A-27C.
