GTFO!! I know what my gf's buying me for Christmas!!

Nope, not at all. Looks like someone wanted to send a message to a like minded bud without anyone over 18 understanding. Seem like mission accomplished to me. I gotta show this to my fiancé, she speaks fluent teenaged girl. She has to, she teaches them.

Sure you're not talking about MW2 there Widow...?

Final F-111C flights today.
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
RAAF Pigs have never been in combat. They have been deployed around the world (NZ, Malaysia, Red Flag etc) but they haven't flown any in-theatre combat sorties for mostly political & economic reasons. I'm pretty sure the only combat sorties the RAAF has been involved in since Vietnam was Operation Falconer (2003 invasion of Iraq)and even then F/A-18s were sent instead. Were it not for operational costs (something like 140 maintenance hours for ever flight hour for example) F-111s would have been a very decent CAS platform for our troops in Afghanistan or Iraq. Long loiter time, high payload, precision strike ability, etc. -

If you're doing a contemporary setting, you won't need any of those Mig-21s, Mig-15/17 or early model J-7s (C/D)s, J-6, Il-28s or even the F-86s for starters. And if you're adding USMC platforms, the F-35B and C would be nice additions. Now the E-2C is a nice piece of kit to use because several AFs in the region (JASDF, RSAF, RoCAF) all use or have used them, but any addition of it would be an end user decision, yeah, because you'd need DAT permissions to use it...? -
Personally, I distinctly recall MW2 suffering from this (amongst it's many arguable faults). Nevertheless, it's an interesting thing to ponder and an insight into the different attitudes that go into making games/Story telling and how this is presented to different demographics. Unfortunately, it looks like it is. I have the same on mine. It was probably just an oversight on Gepard's part. -

Lots of Losers in U.K. Defense Review By ANDREW CHUTER Published: 19 Oct 2010 18:22 LONDON - Few winners but lots of losers have emerged from a defense review that has inflicted the most sweeping cuts to Britain's defense capabilities since the end of the Cold War. The Strategic Defense and Security Review, unveiled Oct. 19 by Prime Minister David Cameron, stripped the armed forces of various capabilities, reduced military and civilian personnel numbers, and ushered in a restructuring of the Army. http://www.defensenews.com/story.php?i=4934263&c=EUR&s=TOP

Great Britain guts military services.
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
I heard about this this morning... Stinks of the 1957 Defense White paper's lack of foresight. Sad end to the Harrier's and the Ark Royal's career. The way I heard David Cameron speak about it this morning, he made it sound as if the Harriers currently in service were 40 years old. Then there are the Sentinels, the Tornado GR.4s, the Nimrods, the STOVL F-35s (which is now going to make it a whole lot more expensive for anyone else to consider purchasing), the 5000+ redundancies, the inevitable loss of skills, the capability gaps... and that's just the RAF alone! Link's back up. -
One of the best jet fighter films Ive ever seen
SayethWhaaaa replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Derk, it kinda blows me away that you watched this obvious propaganda piece from more than 20ish years ago and expected it to have some kind of Academy nomination worthiness! Haha! Some very nice footage of the IRIAF gear there though which seems to be hard to come by. I don't think I've ever seen video footage of that 747 Tanker before, or this much IRIAF gear in a video before either. Great find MigBuster!! -
Sukhoi Su-30M2 fighters complete test flights
SayethWhaaaa replied to Erik's topic in CombatACE News
I'm not sure those numbers for the Su-30MKK are quite right. They have roughly 100 MKKs and MKK2s, but it's more of a 3-1 ratio. The news I saw is that they're maybe looking to build something like up to 100 and by which point an MLU or replacement will be available, but nothing near 250. They in the process of building 200 J-11As, but the license is only for 200 (I know they've had a history of unlicensed production)... It's definitely a good get if they are! -

Can't wait for the ME! Hope you can switch between land and carrier bases!! -
They have a hell of a time maintaining 10 fighters, let alone 200! lol You're right though, however, it has to compete with the F-16. And given that everyone and his dog has one, lack of cost and availability of parts and so on, it's hard to compete with.

French warships for Russia to be armed with Ka-52 helicopters
SayethWhaaaa replied to Erik's topic in CombatACE News
Not surprisingly, China is second in the world for spending. And France is ranked third for conventional arms exports (behind the US and Russia), so it's not that far from second. To be fair to Russia's industry is still recovering from the post communist period of the 90s. The technical know-how is still there, but implementation is stymied mostly from a lack of public and private funding, not to mention losing a lot of technical expertise to the greener pastures of foreign military defense contractors in the west (and China). Democracy and Euro-centric defense have little to do with it. The Russian defense industry has to fend for themselves now and try to break into markets that have been traditionally 'Western' and that's no easy task. Since small arms, vehicles and aircraft have been strengths in the past, growth has been much faster in those areas and naturally things like ship building/development have fallen by the wayside as a consequence. Contracting out a tender such as the 2 LHD/Amphibious Assault ships like this is a good example of Russia opening up to the global market and pulling away from their centralised past. -
I hope rookie mistakes like Mig-25 being called Mig-31s, Tu-22s being called badgers and lazy assed things like the F-15C and E sharing the exact same model are sorted out... Always bugged me through the the last one.

That's a shock... I really don't get what the big deal is about Israel wanting to use their own avionics in the plane. I've heard things like "it may compromise the stealthy characteristics of the F-35" and so on which is stretching it a bit. I figured it would be more along the lines of Israeli contractors would learn more about the nature of 5th Gen stealth fighter characteristics or something which they're going to do anyways, what with being a user of the aircraft.
