But cost blowouts, technical delays and the like are expected and are part of the norm now. I blame it mostly on government/business co-operation. Back in the day, when a contract was tendered, a viable alternative was always established. Should you not meet or fulfill the contract to the letter, you get the arse and the other plane gets the win, leaving you to foot the bill. What alternative is there with the F-35? What happens to the USAF when each unit of 5th Gen fighters is costing far in excess of $100 million, up from the $40-$60 million price range now for similar capacity off-the-shelf aircraft (Latest model F-15s/F-16s etc) and way off from the original projections? That said, I do keep hearing rumors that the ANG are contemplating the possibility of replacing their existing fleets with SuperBugs as their remaining airframe lives round down. I don't think I could see the ANG buying "Navy" aircraft somehow... even if there is a precedent.

Sound issues
SayethWhaaaa posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Anyone having a problem with aircraft audio when copying the SF directory? Example: I recently copied the components of a mod from WOV to WOE, sound, objects, controls, etc and now I'm finding that random aircraft (the PLAAF J-8, F-35A and C (but not B)) have no engine sounds. I've checked the data.inis checked for the corresponding sound files in the sound folder and they're there... but just no sound. I've tried recopying the audio, problem persists... Anyone come across this? Note: I'm using the first gen series, patched to date. -
Can't wait for "Leisure Suit Woods 2010, LSW 2011, etc". Same dick joke experience, different textures...

WOV: Want some music in your cockpit?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Dogzero1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You can, but I'm fairly certain it resets if you switch between interior and exterior view. So any song you have one will start again the second you change your view. That was always the problem with the 20+minute radio chatter piece, unless you played from the pit the whole time. -
Couldn't help but notice that the South African flag was still on the fuselage...

Oops, I missed that. Cheers Marcelena!

It's only 2 years behind schedule and suffering from a myriad of issues, but the A-400M has finally made it's maiden flight... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8407825.stm Still a nice looking transport though...

...just saw it last night. Loved it. Check it out if you get the chance! I hate Metallica (I mean hate with a passion!) but the intro... outstanding!

Individual unit price is going to go up, yeah, but the program's costs will go down. Unfortunately, your customers are going to get pissy. On the bright side, at least your Air Force isn't in the dire straights the RAF is. That's gotta count for something.

The "(Insert country here) claim that their (Insert platform here) will knock out any aircraft in world." ...statement has been around since the dawn of warfare. And as always, over time, countermeasures and counterparts are always developed. There will be something better than the F-15E. There will be something better than the F-22. There will be something better than the S-400, or the AIM-9X, or the T-90, the M-4 assault rifle, Spectra body armour, Metal Storm CIWS... and so on. Whatever it is, be it a platform, or electronic or operational countermeasures or whatever, it's being worked on as we speak.

Israelis are sposed to use them reasonably frequently on their C/Ds, or so I've heard.

Guys, relax. Nicole Kidman's summer home isn't too far from where this was discovered and the locals are only too aware of how hungry she can get sometimes while swimming... It's part of the environmental policy we have for the region, by letting her swim there, we keep the numbers of Sharks and Megalodons down, thus preventing situations such as:

Haha! No way. Great stuff Z! -
Hey, any reason why Starfighter2(Serbia) and Museli(NL) would be having trouble downloading these two IA-58 Pucara skins? I uploaded them earlier and I have no problems whatsoever, but they keep getting errors... Edit: Oops, this is the other.

Download problems

Hey E, Marcos was kinda enough to upload a screenie of the problem, here. I'm just wondering, could it have been the way I uploaded it? Maybe just deleting them and reposting might do the trick? They're located in the general SF/WO* skins directory. Weird thing was, when I went to move them to the Modern Aircraft sub-cat, I couldn't find them to move, nor did I see any options on the download page itself. -

I've noticed that Download server 2 resets your connection, so don't use it. Download from server 1 instead. -

I dunno, I thought the TVC looked alright going by the previous release. Okay, it didn't have the huge burner effects some of the other aircraft released has, but it still looked good. Nevertheless, very much liking this one too! -
Would love to check one of these out up close...
