Here's the orbital shot Fubar, if that had happened in my home town, I would have gone out of my way to freak out my neighbours. And that would have been just the ticket! lol

So no one's come across this...? Damn. That sucks! -
The TV above the monitor is a good idea. I gotta give that a go.

They're all just as bad as each other. They all need a slap in the face and told to rub some dirt into it for being so sensitive! Otherwise, I'd prescribe (warning, some reasonably offensive language)

It's weird, that's the first thing I thought of when I heard. I've seen a whole bunch of his films, but the first thing I thought was "Raise an AK for Jed".

Brazil Choose the Rafale
SayethWhaaaa replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
It's a shame it hasn't been bought by other nations already. It really is a great aircraft, but I think France really shot themselves in the foot spectacularly by choosing kill off the Mirage 2000 production line to favour the Rafale. It's really been a disincentive to prospective buyers, many of whom are Mirage 2000 operators themselves, to update to the new aircraft. I couldn't imagine the US shutting down the F-16 line to preference the F-35 and I think Dassault/France would be seeing a much larger market share if they hadn't pushed it so hard. -
I'm intrigued by the idea, but with the large pylon-y looking things at the wing root and the two slab sided supersonic stabilisers beneath aelerons, they're gonna have to do better than that to reduce the RCS. I thought the Russians, Chinese and Indian were having a lot of success with reducing the RCS by adding composites (and heavily modified intakes) and those RAM coatings to aircraft. What is the coating, ferrite or something? Still, with the room they'd create by adding a bay between the engine intakes, there'd be a lot of room for weapons or fuel. It'd certainly give the Strike/Silent Eagles some good competition.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/09/04/2676786.htm How sweet is this?? Go Temora! I've seriously gotta head east and check these guys out. I saw their Connie and SP-2H Neptune out here at RAAF Edinburgh in late 2007. Good stuff! -
Never Enough Buffs

Is that back on?? I thought the standoff jammer program was given the arse a few years. Seemed like a shame, it'd make a killer platform for the role. -
I saw choppers in WWI and immediately thought of the movie Biggles and the Jetranger he flew back in time...

Or Rhinos by the looks of things. Any chance of seeing an EB-52E Megafort in the future...? -
I can't begin to emphasise how much of an understatment that is!

I don't think it's Scotland per se, but I think the doubt stemmed from US officials at the time were pushing to get a conviction, make an example that should someone commit a crime as heinous as this, the full weight of the US's judicial might would be thrown at them (It wasn't just US political interference, Whitehall has been accused of that too but seems to be the US who's getting it the most.) I can understand their motivations for wanting to bring him to justice and so quickly, but there are UN observers who say that political influence affected almost every aspect of the trial and prosecution and in some cases took precedence over the rule of law. That a key witness(s?) was unreliable at least. I mean, if he is a responsible party, hang him high, if he's not, then "Brotherly Leader" would have ensured we'll never find who is. There is one little thing that I can't seem to shake. K, say I commit a particularly nasty crime, I go to trial, I get sentenced for life, how is it there can be talk of me getting paroled in 20 years?? I thought life was exactly that -- Life. I don't understand this bit of the guy's sentence. How can he have been expected to serve at least 20 years of his sentence before being paroled? I though once you got life, that's it, you aren't coming out unless it's in a body bag in a coroner's wagon.

One of the things I found interesting about reading this particular story here (and through the Beeb and US media outlets) has been the differences in opinion between the Scots/British and those in the US. Apparently there's quite a bit of skepticism in Scotland (and I guess the UK too) about the guilt of Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, there's a strong belief that there was a lot left unsaid and that, yeah, as G^^ said, that he could very well have been a patsy, diverting attention away from the real bombers. And then in the US, the overwhelming opinion is of, essentially, wanting to see him dead, convinced that he is indeed the agent responsible for the act. No question. ...I mean, either way, the dude could very possibly be dead in 3 months from prostate cancer. That in itself isn't going to be a fun way to go, so what does it really matter if he's released now? He's a dead man walking. It's not like he'll cruising back in a yacht doing blow off the backs of bikini clad women. He'll be lucky to get out of bed or go to the toilet without help. One thing though, I notice in the article it says he's served 8 years of a life sentence. I thought he'd been detained since 1990/1? I was 9 at the time, so I don't remember much about the case.
