Jesus... Reads can't sue... is that because by being a member of the AF, he's barred from suing anyone in the US Military?

I feeling annoying you for that comment. That's all the motivation I need to finish off that USAF skin for that Su-27 I made ages ago.

That's a common, yet very uninformed stereotype the Chinese seem to get. From data I've seen when I used to work in the industry, the J-10 is a very solid, very advanced airframe. It's easily the equivalent of it's stablemates in gen 4.5 and more than a match for early generation F-16/F/A-18s that are still used my many nations in the West (including my own). This holds true for the J-11 family too. The production model J-11 is a vastly different plane when compared to the Su-27SK is originated from. Comparing the J-11A/B with first gen Su-27s is like comparing an F-15SG to an F-15A. Avionics, construction materials, engines, weapons systems and many other systems have been upgraded substantially or replaced completely (case in point, take a look at the extensive usage of composites in newer production models.) Yeah, historically, Chinese air power has followed a philosophy of 'quantity over quality', but that's certainly no longer the case. Regional developments, the balance of power with India, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan have all partially dictated the technical evolution of the past 20 years given the access to advanced US arms. And don't forget, China is actively seeking to grab a piece of the international arms market away from players like the Russians and the US, so the quality needs to match. If not exactly or technologically, then cost effectively (proportionally between technical sophistication and cost). K, so Australia has a pretty neutral relationship with China (despite China's detention of an Australian businessman last week in what was believed to be an attempt to exert pressure on Australia), but if I were sitting in Taiwan, South Korea or Japan, I'd much more worried than I would be here. These three nations have all lost technical ground to the Chinese in the past 20 years and would be keen to regain that edge again; which is why all three are (not any more I suppose) keen to get their hands on the F-22 and/or F-35. I'm not saying that PLAAF J-10 or J-11 would sweep the sky of Taiwanese aircraft if they went down the path of hostile reintegration of Taiwan. But it would be a lot bloodier than if the RoCAF were fighting J-6/J-7/J-8s with low tech IRMs and SAHM. And in an era when the loss of one aircraft is a 'big deal' (in terms of cost, not including the pilot), I bet defense planners in these nations would be very concerned countering Chinese technical developments indeed.

So what's been going on?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
There's are new Buffs for SF2 available. Veltro2k, in yet another attempt to set a record in depriving himself sleep to provide us with aircraft, is working on the Il-76/8/A-50 series and there is a stack of being transitioned over to SF2... It's all looking good. -
Josh (Sorry, forgot your name on here dude ) sent me that on FB a few days ago. In that time, I've lost count of how many kinds of awesome it was seeing someone deck a conspiracy theorist, let alone that man being Buzz!!

Struggling... to... not... write... smartarsed... comment... Hey Markkyle, that Intruder snapshot... I... it... ...that's just beautiful man!!! -
But then again, he does have that variety show he does and it did have Danny Glover on it one time. I'd probably ask him "Sooo... WAS Danny Glover too old for that sh*t??"
-
I'd say "Sooo... that Dubuya... He's the devil, isn't he?" and just sit back while he goes off on a rant for hours. I don't care either way for pro or anti Bush bashing, I just wanna see his minders faces when I set him off! Totally worth it...

I dunno, I think it'd be pretty funny.

NZ Terrain and Campaign WIP
SayethWhaaaa replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
70 Million??? Damn. I knew it was a lot, but flying over NZ, I'm going to second guess every white patch of terrain as either being snow or sheep. lol -
My friends thought Ice Hockey was a brawl with the game breaking out every so often when then came to watch me play. They'd leave disappointed because it wasn't as violent as they thought... Doesn't mean I didn't get smacked around a fair bit! Yeah, just watch out if the Maroons lose... They'll riot! Queenslanders are f*&^ing tarded for Origin!

Wait!! Floppy... What?! I just saw that Syrinx!! :threaten: lol

I just laughed so hard I think I peed a little... Hah! It was good, but we needed more!! :p I'll only tip my hat to him because I still can't figure out how he managed to hook up with Lara Bingle (the bikini clad woman from the Aussie "Where the bloody hell are ya" ads that offended you decent, sensible British folk. ). I'm not going to use the rebuilding excuse... you guys in Mother England beat us to that one years ago, but I think I'll be expecting to see losses become a more common thing in our future. The ACB's got themselves to blame though. They boot Andrew Symonds off the tour because he's a bit of a pisshead and impose a bunch of tighter restrictions on the rest of the team... it's all a bit silly. And they still don't taker spinners seriously! Personally, I like your work dude. MigBuster, I think our national sport is AFL, Union and League are mostly an East Coast thing. I dunno... hotpants, knee high socks and wrestling big buffed dudes to the ground while chasing balls... I just couldn't get into Aussie Rules. PS. That was gracious Syrinx, you're cheque is in the mail.

A quick question about audio files...
SayethWhaaaa posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Is there an upper limit for the size of the .wav file when creating sound effects? I've just ripped a new helicopter engine sound, but I get silence in game. All the entries (AFAIK) are altered correctly... -
BAH! Poms are the biggest bunch of cry babies when it comes to losing and sport! lol If you're not winning cricket, you get your press to bag the rest of the worlds cricket teams and dig up dirt on 'em, call us a bunch of cheats and unsportsmanlike, etc. If you win, you guys GLOOOOOOAAAT!!!! It's like you won the Battle of Britain all over again! I swear, losing Warnie was a bigger loss for England than it was for Australia. The Poms had no one to pick on then!  I hope you realise I'm not being 100% serious here Scouser... but Poms do cry when they don't win the cricket though! When we take the ashes, it's like we take your national manhood away... It's so very sweet. Payback for all your bloody backpackers that fly out here and get lost in the desert! That said, at least the UK's not as bloody as when the All Blacks lose the rugby... I hear Auckland and Wellington are as bloody as Mogadishu after the rioting...

Next time, we should play in a country where the Umpires haven't been bought off... I didn't realise the "one bounce" rule applied to the catches for English fielding.

K... That's one thing I definitely haven't done. I think it's in 32bit stereo at 4400. Cheers Spillone, gonna give that a go now! -

Rise of Flight: Two aircraft released/unlocked today!
SayethWhaaaa replied to ArgonV's topic in General Discussions
Hang on, so those two planes are only going to be releaased for North American and European subscribers...? Yeah... I'm not liking the sound of that. Think I'll stick to sims that use addons like the TW series for a little while. I just don't like deveolpers who dictate whether or not I can add or mod stuff. That said, those screens look great. Those are some nice environments! -
WoV Single Mission only starts at 1st January?
SayethWhaaaa replied to DaniloE31's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Bugger, you beat me to it. I was going to say I had that problem a couple of times too, but after starting a campaign it usually sorted itself out. I don't remember having issues with it in WOE or WOI, but I do remember having it in WOV. I haven't seen this problem for a while, could be that it's been patched out with the latest patch. Dan, are you running this "from the box" or have you patched it up to the latest update? -

radar-guided missiles
SayethWhaaaa replied to lleviatan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I find that in Bunyap's and TMF's weapons packs, I have more problems with accuracy with anything that's not an AIM-120 when I'm flying, than against the AI when it's using BVR missiles. And it's not like I don't know how to use them. The R-27s are a great example of this for me. When used properly, mine get spoofed prolly 7 out of ten times. When the AI uses them, I have to evade like madman to avoid them. Maybe their use by the AI is simplified or something?? Hey Gr. Viper, could that AI bonus be relative to the nations.ini? I know there's an entry in there for pilot skill ranging from excellent through poor...
