Where are they? Did they pop out to the loo?

I got put off by it when I saw David Schwimmer in the first ep. Yeah, petty, I know, but I can't stand him. I hear the cinemaphotography was outstanding though.

Wingman / Squadron Mates are Worthless!
SayethWhaaaa replied to zzHOOTERzz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I agree completely with Lt. Jim. My guys get my back when I'm down in the weeds, my number 2 will hit targets I request and generally does what he/she's told, although not necessarily instantly, but then again, that's not a realistic expectation in SAM country. If you issue your orders before you reach the AO (although not too far out), they will work for you. Take in some bombers and you'll easily see their efforts as they'll practically carpet bomb the area. Although, if I start a sortie, I'm not completely sure I get results from my number 3 if I start with a three ship flight... -
We don't really need to, the avsim lads have already recreated their own: http://linux.myalbemarle.org/forums/ I mean, we could but they're already getting back on their feet over there. The community's already rallied around and contributing to the new database. It's good to see!

Boost for piston-engined aircraft?
SayethWhaaaa replied to ndicki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That's a very reasonable assumption. Giving independent control in a similar fashion to say, landing gear and tailhooks, then I'm pretty sure you can't, but you could set the afterburner threshold at 98%-100% so you at least have something comperable to top speed before hitting the wartime boost. -
Request Help Command
SayethWhaaaa replied to JRA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have that same problem regularly. Could be due to inter-military/governmental policies, circumstantial priorities, or even from the occasional blue on blue incidents of IRMs 'supposedly' being slaved to the radar and deciding to independently seek their own targets as friendlies fly within my cone of attack. Friggin' manufacturers! -

I dunno why, but Pilotwings was a real rush for me! I loved the birdwings! I see myself getting bored and making a mod for San Andreas now...

Green Hell2 mod issue
SayethWhaaaa replied to PinkPanther's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Oddly enough, I did do a search for it but I thought it was in the downloads section. But I think that is the shimmering buildings fix... :blush2: -
Okay, I didn't know that. When I've spoken to retailers here in Oz, say like at EB or somewhere, they've all told me that if I want one that plays PS2 discs, I should go and grab a Malaysian machine. I'd also heard that other regions' PS3s were backwards compatibles, but to be perfectly honest, once I picked up a 360 and a new PS2 (which is now an old ps2), I didn't really investigate it. Unless they were implying that I could go and get a chipped PS3 or something, I'm not particularly keen about that. I'd prefer to have the warranty otherwise it's quite an expensive booster seat should it decide not to work.

That's right, trash talking is the quickest way into the penalty box. Try it if you want, but see if you'll be able to post again anytime afterwards.

You guys got hit too? Damn...

I reckon so, but it is true that douchebaginess knows no age limits.

That's what makes being a mod here enjoyable. Most of you Rabble (that is 99%) respect each other. Nine times out of ten, when there's a 'vigorous' debate about something here, you all behave, keep the flaming to a minimum and go about your business. When someone needs help, unless the asker is being a dick about it, you all help out. You contribute to the community positively, rather than being jerks. Makes the mods lives a lot easier for sure. I mean you get the odd wanker from time to time, but they usually get grounded by their mum/babysitter/case manager and it's back to normal. ...then I go to the GTA forums for some modding help and it's a completely different story. Bunch of prepubescent twats! I feel sorry for the crap the mods there have to put up with!

Laser Guided Bombs
SayethWhaaaa replied to JRA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yep, what Crusader said. Releasing them in a dive will only help them maneuver a little more quickly, but essentially, doing it as above is a good way to go. If on the other hand you need to get into the weeds to avoid SAM threats, getting low and fast and having the target on boresight before releasing 2-3 kms away has worked for me too. In that situation, ensuring you have a line of sight of the target and are in the high 900kph areas is critical. -
Since you're in Oz, you won't get that. For some reason, Sony, in their infinite wisdom, decided to delete that capability from the Australian model. But you'd have scouser region titles, wouldn't you? . The lack of PS compatibility killed it for me. I have a stack of PS2 titles I love and my PS2 is on it's last legs. Aside from that, I really don't care for the Blu ray player (I'll get one in the future if I want one) or the web browsing since I use a PC and there are only a few features about it I actually like. But the thing I can't seem to shake is that all the games I like, I can either pick up for 360 or simply aren't on the PS3. And there's more of a multiplayer focus with most of the games for Xbox anyways. I dunno... for me, the 360 took the initiative and kept my interest. ...but then again, it's still a console. And if I can't mod it, I'll lose interest in it eventually.

Bastards haxors... I'd like to meet a group of these pasty, vitamin D deficient pr*cks to give them my best. And by best, I mean my best haymaker. :threaten: They've caused no end of hassle at Libraries and Universities I've worked at over the past decade!

It's not that, they're in tip top condition. The US government disapproved the sale because they were uncomfortable with the idea of a private company having advanced Skyhawks with PGM capability. For the most part, they're still in excellent condition (as per the conditions of the aborted sale). They should still be in service!

Do not understand WEAPONDATA.INI concept.
SayethWhaaaa replied to ktickner6767's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Shaka, when the walls fell. LOL! Seriously guys, once you get it, you'll kick yourselves for thinking it's hard. You just have to remember: * weaponsdat.ini = list of weapons in sequential order * weapons editor = reads weaponsdata.ini and saves to a format read by the game * Patch your game to the latest version and download the latest version of the weaps editor for minimal issues * Remember that XXX is just a place holder number since all of our weapons lists will vary. * Read the guides in the links that FastCargo posted above as they're very good and will set you straight after about a day's practice (it'll prolly only take you about 10 mins, but you'll know it off by heart at the end of the day.) and finally... * BACK UP ANY FILES YOU ALTER BEFORE YOU MOD THEM!! I hate to think of the amount of time I wasted because I didn't make fail safes when I was learning this stuff!
