Who'da Thunk It

It's pretty rare. I mean, how many times have any of you seen it represented in a sim at all?? I've seen the Pig rep-ed a few times, but never the B. -

Ah, the J.O.E.S. one. It's a piece of piss! Don't fret too much. The math is pretty simple but later on it becomes a bit harder but it's hardly taxing at all. The problem solving questions will prolly be what will irk you the most as you'll be looking at diagram sets for things like patterns and variations and they can be a little unusual if you haven't seen them much, but once you do the first 1/2, you'll get the hang of it. I'll see if I've still got some info on it. If you're a member of a public library, check out books on aptitude testing or psychometric/IQ tests. They'll use similar problem solving puzzles that may also help. In libraries, they'll be in the Adult Non Fiction(ANF) 155-158.1 area, can't remember exactly where. Biggest thing is, don't stress! The program they use allows you to skip to the next question at any time if you get stuck on something particularly hard (which I completely forgot about until about halfway through! ). Plus read the questions carefully! Questions like "What is the magazine capacity of the F88 Steyer?" is one the do like to use. It's not uncommon for people to answer 30 to that question(The answer is one. ). Also make sure you get some decent sleep! My gf and I had a massive fight and we broke up the night before mine! I think I had 3 hours sleep and a couple of Redbulls before I went in and came out with all of my preferences still on the table. Also, the YOU session doesn't necessarily take the 6 hours they tell you. It depends mostly on how many people are there, but mine was finished in just over 3 hours, but it may be different for you. Plus they do have some refreshments on hand (tea, coffee, softdrinks etc) but you may want to take some grub with you too. -

Which aptitude test is it? Is this your initial one or have you been though that already? I went through ADF entry testing midway through last year. -
Certainly was. Wouldn't mind having a do-over of a couple of the years that followed...

For me, the problem was the writing, the same stale, predictable writing. Watch any two episodes of Voyager or Enterprise with similar plots ie, a crew member gets kidnapped, crew mates risk all to save them, aliens take over the ship, crew has to claw their way back, etc and you'll see exactly what I mean. They're almost interchangeable. For me, it was like they were picking polts from the earlier series out of a hat and Voyagerising it, or something. Having someone like Abrams come in will do a lot for it, break it out of it's nice comfy, conservative shell. And I don't mean conservative in any kind of political sense or any of that BS, just take a look at Tom Paris. He was supposed to be the "Wild" "risk-takey" type! How family friendly was he?? I mean, I must be the devil compared to him! You know what, if the 'core' fans get pissy, let 'em. It looks fantastic (so far) and it looks to give Trek that updated, edgy feel it's been lacking since TOS/TMP. If they wanna get their Cap'n Kirk panties in a twist over nit picky things like continuity or that Romulans aren't Bald, let 'em go for it. Most of us will be getting into it or trying to figure out how we dragged our wives and girlfriends to see it!

Oh god dude, we gotta do that. Next CA staff meeting or something!

Knowing the laws and the luck of the poor SOB who may have hypothetically done something, they prolly would have faced charges too. Although, the charges would eventually be overturned, they'd still be sent through the ordeal a lengthy trial. It's just sorta how it goes here. The controls are very tight because authorities are terrified of it happening again. Gun owners are a distinct minority in this country and even then it's mostly farmers or those living in rural areas needing something to deal with pests (foxes, dingos, the odd kid who's knocked up the farmer's daughter). Since the GWOT started, there's sort of been this prevailing attitude here that, if more armed personnel are need to be seen, it's better to have qualified ones who're visible to the public, rather than relaxing gun control laws. So far it's worked in the government's favor, but if someone wanted (or snaps) to go on a shooting spree, I don't think there'd be a whole lot anyone would be able to do about it.
-
We had our gun control laws tightened in Australia after THIS event and rightly so in my opinion (I'm only speaking in relation to my country, not about guns in general). Its a shame it had to come to this for us. It's a tragedy for anyone to have to deal with!

Saw this when I went to see The Watchmen. It blew me away. Then the Watchmen blew me away and I forgot all about it. I don't think I like the new look of the Romulans though.

I dunno. Wasn't terrible, but it was a long way from being fantastic. The modding community got stuck into it (like the UU lads!) and did some good things with it. But FC's right. Make a game adaptation of a movie and 9 times outta 10 it'll suck big bouncy ones.

More like d*ckheads who need serious amounts help and want to see their names in the headlines.

Bullets still smash bone and destroy ligaments, nerve endings etc. A Zed crawling because it's spine is shattered is easier to deal with than one than sprints. Personally, I say let them run into claymores and mop up what's left. And you're all wrong. Semi-Auto is the way to go. I've seen too many people fire off a clip like they're playing cod only to get overwhelmed. A carbine is light, easy to run with and has stopping power. You can go room to room without it being ungainly or take pots from afar, unlike a shotgun.
