Worked for me. Those are some nice toys indeed!

Jealous? This has nothing to do with Jelly! Oh how I miss Invader Zim! Actually, I'm quite jealous too. Unless I get the chance to join the SAS (which ain't gonna happen in this lifetime) I'll miss out on getting to work with one of these. The F88's nice, but not as nice as this. Not by a long shot!

I heard about this on the Beeb this morning too! Cagey mofo, innhe?

They've had a few setbacks. One of the guys got the sh*ts and left the team a few years ago and a short time later, he'd tried sabotaging them by posting what they'd done to that point on Ebay. The changes the mod's gone through since then have been amazing! It's good to see what they've been able to accomplish with Open FS2!

With Kids kicking your arse on a daily basis, I thought that would have been the reason. I mean my two nephews, both under 4, organise like the raptors from Jurassic Park. Just grabbing these now, but from what I saw of the first pack, it's pretty tasty! Now if I just didn't have to work tomorrow, I'd be flying them some more right now! -

Vikrant Class Aircraft Carrier
SayethWhaaaa replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Mig-29KIs are, plus the Mig-29 was designed to use shortened strips in the first place, allowing them to be used on unprepared ground and so on. That's why the earlier models used to have the intake shields. I think later variants discarded these. -
Vikrant Class Aircraft Carrier

Could be worse, the RN traditionally names certain ships of a new class after the monarch. Could you imagine new classes of carrier of each generation being named HMS Queen Elizabeth? I'm looking forward to seeing how these new carriers operate CTOL and STOVL air groups. -
Queen Elizabeth Class Carrier

Yeah, the stories I've been hearing is that the aft one is where the tower will be situated and it'll have much better visibility in comparison to contemporary carriers. -

The Fox runs beautifully for me. Interweb Destroyer seems to run like 1 legged, arthritic dog through a lake of molasses during a Canadian blizzard for me whenever I try to use it for anything. So I don't anymore. -

Are any going to be equipped with steam catapults, or will they all be ski-jumps? I thought I saw a proposal for a ski-jump carrier with a single catapult on the port side, similar to an old Soviet design (but not nuclear powered). -

Personally, I remember it as the Cessna O-2. There's a Skymaster at the airport near my place in USAF O-2 colours. It flies almost every weekend. -
Just an observation, but I've noticed a lot of people here bagging the VVS and the Russian military in general, and fair enough, to each their own. BUT, if the Russians wanted to reach out and give someone a bloody nose, I think there'd a lot of you may be very surprised to see that they could actually do it. They may take a beating during or after any hypothetical strike, but it still could be done. I sincerely doubt it would happen any time soon, if ever. Just remember, there was a fervent belief that the Japanese posed little threat to the US before 1941 and their military was very much underestimated...

Yeah, what he ^^ said. Although, it can be a little random sometimes in terms of them scrambling interceptors. -

Yeah, I've been under the influence playing this sim. My aim with dumb sticks improved, but damn if I'd land like Roger Ramjet... -

I thought modern day IRMs could be slaved to the radar to pick out an individual target (as opposed to being autonimous) and then go active when a positive signal is achieved? -

I dunno, having smoked it a little bit in my youth, I can say, personally, i don't see what the big deal is. But that's just my opinion. I think attitudes here in Oz about weed are a bit more liberal that in the US, but not as liberal as you might find in Europe. I can see how it could cause harm to some and I can see how it practically doesn't affect others at all. Not all drugs, be they legal or otherwise, will affect everyone in the same way. For example, codine (in things like neurofen, an over the counter pain killer) hardly works for me and causes an asthmatic response in me. But most people I know can use it without any side effects at all. Another, my Dad can't take asprin due to allergies. I'm not into it any more because, defense force membership notwithstanding, I never liked the lethargy that would ensue. I'm keeping much more active than I did when I was first at Uni a decade ago and it's much easier staying healthier now, no longer smoking, eating and exercising right. Now, that said, I think this makes perfect economic sense right now. If it's legalised, think about how the food services sector would be booming, selling munchies to it's ripped patrons. It'd be a gold mine! And at least there'd be no fighting amongst the munters, not like alcohol... Like Bill Hicks said, it's impossible. -
Fat fighters, Australian troops being called obese

I've seen a few tubby gents since I joined. But the thing is that all ADF personnel are graded to different degrees, depending on their age and their roles. A 50 year Op-Admin will have PFA standards that differ from a someone in Supply to a 17yr old Rifleman and that's different again to a Crew Attendant in the AF to an Engineer in the Navy. The fact remains, if you don't meet the standards set in the assessments given, maybe that career path may not be for you (which is one of the reasons I'm not a rifleman)... That said, I bet every single one of them can move like a gazelle when they need to! -
This is neither here nor there, but I have a mullet at the moment. There, I said it. Feels liberating.
