AC-130J Version 1.0

It's about time there was a gunship in service with the RAAF! She's a bit tops, Dels! -
R-74 (AA-11)?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Bulldog's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Bulldog, the R-74 is a variant of the R-73, just replace it with either an entry for one of the R-73 variants or you could always copy an R-73 in the weapons editor to the same name as in the loadout.ini. I'm reasonably certain I saw an R-74 in on of Lindr's weapons packs too. -
Any rain is good rain! I'm working out in the hot dry sun, yet again, today. It hasn't rained here in 4 weeks, before that, 3 months. I'd welcome any rain... at least something to take the edge of this heat!

It's 8:43am here... No point in getting my hope up yet.

lol, you gotta get out more Col5.

Well, yeah. I don't know any girls who don't dig scars acquired from doing something dodgy.

Yeah, that one stuck in my craw too...

Heh, yeah... I thought so.

I dunno dude, in the DS Mod, seems like every time I take on a Mirage F-1EQ my first AIM-9 bounces off the fuselage and the second takes it down. It's a shame they're taking the "2 missile takedown" for this action shooter too. I remember in the earlier Ace Combats (2 and 4 I think) where some aircraft like the Tornado, A-10 and the Mig-31 would take you at least 4 to take down. I dunno that it's going to be as bad as you guys are all suggesting. This game is being developed to take on Ace Combat and, lets face it, what other competition is there for vaguely aircraft sim/action type games for console? It's very pretty, but what I'd be interested to see is if the game leaves you with that kinda hollow feeling Ace Combat 6 left me with (the f**king god aweful and massively cheesy script/acting was mostly responsible for that) or whether I'll get immersed in it like I have with Distant Thunder (or Shattered Skies, whatever its called there.). I don't care what kind of toys I get to use in the game, if I'm not completely gripped by it or caught up in the game in any way, I won't go back to it later. Simple as that. Now, if it resembled the difference GRAW2 had with the average FPS, I think I'd be in. And on that point, I see everyone bagging this about it not being simtastic enough (fair enough, it doesn't look it), but I bet a bunch of you play COD 4. How much of a sim is that compared to AA or GRAW2? Hmmm?

Am I a rivet counter for seeing this film when I was seven and knowing even then that there were 4 catapults??

Oops... I read this thinking someone was a about to become a dad unexpectedly. That sucks dude, but it could be a whole lot worse!

why no weapons?
SayethWhaaaa replied to gregb143's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Personally, I use the Bunyaps pack, but the MF does have some nice looking weapons. Both packs contain weapons the other doesn't have. So mix and match, you'll get a nice hybrid going. Anyways, I digress, are you using the WOI weapons editor, or are you using the pre-WOI weapons editors? If you have the games patched to their most recent patches, you'll need to be using the WOI editor. -
"You're gonna do what?!"

Oh sh*t! That freakin' sucks dude. None of it is recoverable? -
Anyone noticed this post by TK...?
SayethWhaaaa replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Maybe he just thinks that the lite-simmers will find it excruciating since they can do just about everything else straight away and with great ease, where as refueling is a very precise proceedure. ...or maybe he had a bad experience with refueling in Afterburner... which was a mofo! I mean, we could guess at it all day. Personally, I'd dig it if it was introduced, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over what he adds or not. I've enjoyed what he's done so far (although I miss Snoopy), I don't think I'll dislike where it'll go. -

So those Ka-52s are entering service? I was getting the impression it wasn't. It's a mean looking helicopter, I always thought it a shame that it was facing the possibility of being cancelled. Very nice shots Lindr2! -

Update The bodycount now is at 130 people and according to sources, could rise up to 230 and so far, more than 750 homes have been destroyed. In Bendigo, a cigarette butt has been blamed for the loss of 50 homes.

Yeah, thought so. That's an ADG (Adgie) here. I think getting my gf to be cool with that is going to be a bit of an issue, but you're absolutely right, it's an important part of serving and the experience will be invaluable. I couldn't imagine joining only to avoid deploying whether it's regulars or reserves. I think she'll come around in the end, she's pretty level headed.

What's an AGR dude? I gotta feeling I know it by a different name like Adgie or something... But in any event, congrats on getting the transfer!

Yeah, it's pretty awful stuff, much worse than the Ash Wednesday Fires that raged across Victoria and South Australia practically encircled my hometown in '83. In Vic, towns like Kinglake and Marysville have for all intents and purposes, been wiped out. At the moment, 26 bushfires are burning through Vic alone and 12 of those are uncontained. The worst thing is that some of these fires are deliberate. Thing is, it's the conditions are perfect for a disastrous fire. We've had El Nino weather patterns (high, dry temps, little or no rain) in the South and South East for the better part of the last few years. It's truly horrible!
