SayethWhaaaa replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah, once I was able to update the weapons.dat, it worked a charm for me. -

Might have figured out this whole "Lock phasers and fire" thing... -
OMG! F-13s outperform F-35s!

No, they said F-13s, whatever they are. Not Mig-21s. -

Yeah, I feel more confident about what JSF_Aggie has to say about it than someone like Denis Jensen. It's a no brainer. -
I'm out for a while

OMG! F-13s outperform F-35s!
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
Everyone's taking the F-13=Mig-21 to heart a bit. I was just taking the p*ss. I think they meant F-16 and it was a keypad typo. Still, stealth or not, I think comparing F-35s to Su-30s is a bit of a waste of time as their operational profiles (along with their systems, ordinance, pilot training, etc) is going to have a large bearing on how they are going to fare against each other. I mean, lightweight aircraft and heavy aircraft are going to be able to perform similar roles, but the way they're applied is going to be quite different (especially with the RAAF's penchant for low level, scattered penetration). The F-35s will do the job nicely and the SuperBugs will be able to provide an effective top cover against the Sukhois, if ever they met (I've got more of a chance of hooking up with Tina Fey!). F-15Es would do it better for around the same cost, but here we are. I'd say this "are the F-35s worthy" debate here is akin to asking what's 'best' between the F-4 Phantom and the A-4 Skyhawk. Both are good at what they do, they just do it differently. We simply don't need the F-22, even if the US would sell it to us. It's just fear mongering by the uninformed. Unfortunately, that includes the Senate as well. -
The Official Sept/Oct Patch Thread

That's what used to screw me with the copying over weapons packs from WOI to the others in the past. I forgot to update the weapons.dat. -
Is there any chance from future WOV/WOE patches?

Now I need you to ask for Jessica Alba to knock on my front door!! Yeah, I was pretty stoked to see the patches when I logged on this morning! -

I think a certain Mr. Jensen was getting his arse kicked at Ace Combat and had a bit of a dummy spit. Unfortunately, this is the caliber of parliamentarians who are consulted in defense issues here, and more unfortunately, are listened to. Not to pick on his party (the former government) as the ALP has been making mistakes too, but his was the party who thought it was okay to go ahead and acquire the SuperBug without the need for any competitive tender at all. The current government continued said mistake. Still, it's bugging me. How the hell did they come up with F-13?? -

It's about 2:15 on the eastcoast of Australia right now. And Australian journos are renowned for their substance abuse problems. I'm gonna chalk it up to that. Seriously though, if this report were true, how is it only he seems to have the reports of the F-35 getting boned during this mythical exercise? No other agencies? Denis Jensen is a well known F-22 proponent through and through. He simply does not believe that anything but the F-22 should be bought, even if it means we retire our Pigs, Hornets, Orions, Hurcules, Hawks, Globmasters, etc so we can afford at least 20 of them. I think it's just an extension of his agenda. Plus, Liberal party back benchers are a bit special in the head... -

SayethWhaaaa replied to Luiz Carlos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
By the way, that's exactly what's going to happen Luiz. The previous games will be patched up to the current standard (or is it up to the next WOI patch?). Either way, after the next patch, the entire series should be at the same patch standard. As for when, I couldn't tell you I'm afraid. -

Are there any Electro-Optical or other type of warning sytems to counter heat seeking missiles?
SayethWhaaaa replied to SkyStrike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Heh, me too, although it's invariably one of my wingmen who's miles away getting shot at! Tomcat, do you mean like the warning system in Jet Fighter: Full Burn where your defensive suite identifies and warns you of what type of AAM (IR or AH/SAHM) is fired at you? -
Must be a yank thing. They seem to crash into water here. Then again, a lot of our airports are on or spitting distance from waterfronts.

The hardpoints and model specific launch rails aren't transferable, but some of the racks can be, ie, the APU_62 2IR rack. I think it's only MER,TER and the twin racks or whatever is in the weapons directory. -
"5'7"?? I DIDN'T KNOW THEY STACKED S**T THAT HIGH!"

Mirage 2000D problem
SayethWhaaaa replied to krgf15's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Oddly enough, I get that same problems with the Yak-141, not the Mirage 2000D. Does the Mirage level out when you let the controls go dead? -

Still looking good too! -
Hot on the heels of this nugget of news today came this. I mean, way to go with snatching defeat from the claws of victory! Apparently Spore is now well on the way to being the most pirated game in history! Of 2100 posted reviews on Amazon.com, 92% are 1 star scores, all due to the digital rights management policies EA has instituded with this release. I really feel for the PR staff they have, because it's hard making bricks without mud, let alone straw! About the only good I can see coming from all this bad press is that other companies will be hesitant about going down this path for a little while yet (except for Valve probably ).
