Merging WOE into WOI
SayethWhaaaa replied to PIGHUNTA69's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
This is going to sound noobish, but what exactly are the inherent differences between pre-WOI games and WOI. I don't think I've noticed since my taste in aircraft is from about 1985 onwards and I don't think I've ever had a problem importing them from the older games in the TW series. Is it just older series aircraft (ie WWII-Vietnam) that are affected? I just thought it was a difference in coding to introduce things like higher-def graphics and other updates to the Wings Over engine. -
Successive Governments in Japan have been keen to develop their own advanced aircraft as the F-2 debacle still leaves sour memories and they just about have all the pieces necessary to develop there own. Plus, Japanese industry has been keen about the investment (as well as capitalising on former PMs Yoshiro Mori and Junichiro Koizumi's comments expressing the idea of developing Japanese independence in R&D after personally dealing with the F-2 program), but the governments haven't had the courage to take on the development costs during the current economic and politically turbulent times. It's understandable, but it's a shame as Japanese industry would make one hell of an aircraft!

Blender has the .lod export functions then? -
I was driving a 2D '95 Toyota Soarer Coupe until Feb but after I blew the head gasket, then it was like opening Pandora's box of mechanical faults and electrical issues that still haven't resolved. This one is almost identical except mine was a British racing green. Makes me sad to think about it! :cray:

MiG-29 Grey skin
SayethWhaaaa replied to Nic_FireFox's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Righteo, I've moved this into the mods and skinning chat and deleted the other posting as the section you were posting in was the bugs/report section for the website. Hey, are you new to the ThirdWire series Nic_FireFox? If so, have a looksee at this to get an idea of how the game works. This will help you ease into modding the game. Also, have a look in the Knowledge Base section as pretty much contains all the useful knowledge for modding the Thirdwire series. As for the XXX part of your Grey Skin query, if it's in reference to this: [TextureSetXXX] <<-------- The xxx are simple place holder digits they you need to replace. Directory=Ganz Grau Name=Grey Nation=SOVIET Specular=0.100000 Glossiness=0.100000 Reflection=0.100000 DecalMipMapLevels=3 Squadron= You just need to change that so it's in the correct numerical sequence with any other entries for skins in the list. For example: Here are the texture entries for my Mirage 2000 skins (in the Mirage2000-5.ini) [TextureSet001] Directory=AirDef Blue Name=Blue Nation=France Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.200000 Reflection=0.550000 [TextureSet002] Directory=AirDef Blue (white nose) Name=Blue (white nose) Nation=France Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.200000 Reflection=0.550000 [TextureSet003] Directory=Desert Name=Desert Nation=France Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.200000 Reflection=0.550000 [TextureSet004] Directory=Desert (white nose) Name=Desert (white nose) Nation=France Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.200000 Reflection=0.550000 [TextureSet005] Directory=Peru Desert Name=Peru Desert Nation=Peru Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.200000 Reflection=0.550000 [TextureSet006] Directory=HAF Name=HAF Blue (white nose) Nation=Greece Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.200000 Reflection=0.550000 [TextureSet007] Directory=IAF Blue (white nose) Name=IAF Blue (white nose) Nation=India Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.200000 Reflection=0.550000 This is how the entry for multiple skins is ordered. However, if you are used to modding and your problem is about something else... uh... just ignore all that! -
The Cold War Crisis TC of C&C Zero Hour has finally been finished and should be available for download on the 28th July. Not sure whether that's flithy northern hemisphere time (), or sexy southern hemi time . But lots of people have been waiting for this one! If you head on over to the CWC site, you should (touch wood) be able to download it when you read this... ...hopefully.

NEUTRAL side in a Campaign?
SayethWhaaaa replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
From what I've heard from people trying to introduce civilian aircraft, such as airliners and so on, they've noted that they've had to assign them as either friendly or enemy thus far. So I'd say, on that basis, that unfortunately neutral designation doesn't work at the moment. Although I hope I'm wrong about that. -
WOI Patch August 2008 Released!
SayethWhaaaa replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm a little disappointed in the chaff/flares no longer launching multiple shots, other than that, I'm looking forward to discovering the changes... -
That's the only reason why I gave Enterprise a second chance, partly for those two episodes, mostly because I dug Hoshi. Even still, I turned off because I thought it was as stale as Voyager. Now if they'd developed the Mirror Universe storyline and culled the hammy acting, I think things would be different. But hey, with the new Trek movie coming out, they're looking to re-energise the series (no pun intended.). And if the camera work isn't as shaky and evoking of seasickness like Cloverfield, it might just do that!

Supposed WWII skeleton found dangling above Kokoda Track
SayethWhaaaa replied to Muesli's topic in The Pub
He was taking the piss dude. Although, judging by some of the other comments there, I do find some odd pride in knowing that, despite being a relatively small nation, our percentage of tards to total population is still way up there in the global rankings. We have to be in the top 5 at least! Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi! -
http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,...5014117,00.html I'm looking forward to seeing how they plan to under-develop and lower the quality of the future of the GTA series! If Take Two has any sense, they'll tell EA to go jump... You know, if it does go ahead, I wonder how buggy the next GTA would be if EA had a hand in it.
-
Ah... no, actually you don't. If they wanna have a toggle feature for their pits, then who are you or I to say they shouldn't just because we ply the game differently. Different strokes for different folks dude.

Freeware or Payware
SayethWhaaaa replied to Yorkiesand23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
We've got an Mi-35 Hind that was modded from the A-Team Mi-24 by Gerald14, but as for the Orion and the Viggen, I've only ever seen them at the A-Team site (but then again, I don't visit the Avsim website because their search engine gives me the sh*ts! ). -
Freeware or Payware
SayethWhaaaa replied to Yorkiesand23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well... since no money is changing hands, it's freeware. The only real difference is that the A-Team chooses to host all of their own products at their site instead. You can still find some of their individual team members' aircraft (I think, lemme look) and some skins here (like AllenJB42's Hind skins). But the overwhelming majority, as well as all their new works are only available there to the best of my knowledge. As for your campaign, if the aircraft you need are from the A-Team's site, you might have to wait for a response before going ahead as quite a few of the aircraft there aren't available at other sites AFAIK. Be patient and Cap will get back to you at his earliest convenience. Just curious, which aircraft are you looking for? -
I felt the same (about going insane) when my buddy was in ICU with a kidney infection. At least she knows you're there, and that alone helps more than you realise! Really hope she pulls though ASAP dude! Best wishes!

They've allegedly inked a deal with Russia for 8 Mig-31Es, but there's no word on when they're being delivered, if they have been delivered; Whether or not they'll be conversions of existing aircraft or new builds, or anything really. I've heard delivery dates for 2009, but I've never seen it confirmed though.
