It's a laser beam bozo...
SayethWhaaaa replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Alrighty... here's what I've got worked out so far... (or stumbled across is probably more accurate. ) Like I stated in the other threads, it loses it's effect if you adjust your aim... I've tried altering the tail (the tracer) and the problem I'm having at the moment is that each time I shorten it, it reverts back to your standard tracer fire look. Plus outside of 1.2kms, it does this also. As for its characteristics for firing, there's hardly any recoil in it's current form, it's accurate out to a shade over 2kms and has a noticeable curve just outside of 2.5kms (something to do with the coriolis effect, I wasn't paying attention to McGregor, I was just trying to hit the bastard. ) -

F-14A+/D Skins
SayethWhaaaa replied to PigDriver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I was thinking that renaming the aircraft and skins completely would do the trick, but that's a bit of an overkill. When I have changed the name of the texture in the past however, it usually results in the plane loading without the texture. I found this to be the case when I tried to add an F-16A skin to an F-16C, and this led me to believe that it'd hold true for the Tomcat... (Oh, and Mexicans is a Queenslander reference to anyone south of the border, and because we all like ribbing the NSW types! It's about the only good thing Q-landers have come up with other than Metermaids!) -

modern, calm, radio comms

You know... a bunch of us could make recordings of particular phrases and we could mix and match, hopefully reproducing the variety or different pilot/RIO voices one would normally find. I'll endeavour to keep mine "streuth!", "Bugger!" and "Cobber!" free. ... (Sorry Oz CA members, you don't have to say it but I know I just fostered that sterotype... ) -
F-14A+/D Skins
SayethWhaaaa replied to PigDriver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hey PD, the models are the same, no one's made a specific F-14D model per se, but there at least two different F-14 models AFAIK and the skins may not necessarily be interchangeable. But there can also be the odd texture 'issue' from time to time as with these skins from Dels: I know why this ^^ is happening, just not how, hence, I can't figure out how to stop it other than not using 36 Sqn C-130Hs and C-130J-30s together. Individually they're fine. Where did you get your Tomcat from? -

Essentially, it's just a modded gun with a larger (longer, slightly thicker) tracer. I've upped the accuracy so as to prevent any bending of the beam, although technically it should bend over distance, I haven't seen it do so yet. I'll have to shorten the tracer length a bit as the beam appears instantly in front and behind when it's fired. I thinking though, that if I shorten the beam to counter for this, the bending issue will become more pronounced. I recall it being spot on at just under 2kms, I haven't had a chance to stretch it's legs yet. -
Hey... why's there smoke coming out of it?!

What the hell is wrong with you Yanks?! More specifically, what is going on with your chocolate?! Just kidding about the Yanks part, sort of... I'd been dying for some chocolate because idiot me didn't pack any for the trip to Hawaii, nor for the hike into the mountains so by the time I got out, I had a major choccy craving. So I headed to one of the 5 million ABC stores in Waikiki where I was staying... but all they had was that hersey's crap! And about 40 other bars with peanuts or peanut flavouring! PEANUTS!! I couldn't find a Mars Bar anywhere on the island! I remeber there being a scare in the 80s (can't remember if it was a scare of if it was a real threat) where some nutjob told the press he was going to put rat poison into the Mars bar mix, but I didn't think that the line was discontinued... Its sort of funny because I used to go out with this girl from Kentucky and when she moved back, I'd sent her a care package of Caramello Koalas and Freddo frogs which they absolutely devoured because she said "They're a bit tight arsed with caramel (runny Caramel, not the chewy kind) over here" and in regards to Hawaii, I think she's right! Although she hated the awesome strawberry filled freddos... which is just a bit stupid! Alrighty, chocolaty/caramel flavoured rant off. That said, Hawaii was F**king awesome! I'm completely jealous of you US citizens and the fact that, if you so choose, you could spend as much time there with the super cute Hawaiian girls as you want! Where as I'd have to apply for a green card... :cray: And big ups for the USA channel showing an SVU/CI marathon the second I got there! I'll also have to post a snap of the KC-135 that decided to stall/park itself on the tarmac right in front of my flight home. I was hoping they'd have to tow it which would possibly delay our flight so much that I'd have to stay there a few more days and enjoy the place a little more. But the USAF was pretty quick to move it... Bastards!

India to buy 197 helicopters for army from EADS
SayethWhaaaa replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Thales, DCN, Navantia and a host of others could, depending on how fast they agree to a design, could produce a fast, light carrier design of 20k to 30k tonnes displacement within 5 years. If they built to mercantile, not military standards as the HMS Ocean was built, they could do so with maybe a 1-2 year delay... assuming of course, the bureaucracy didn't hinder things. It sucks that India, who has been a solid customer and a large reason behind the renaissance of the Russian (Aeronautical) defence arms industry, is getting treated in this way! I mean how many nations operated the Su-27 Flanker (not including former Soviet satellite states) before India threw Rosboro a bone compared with the number of operators after?? The Su-27, despite being an awesome plane, only gained the opportunity to evolve thanks to the support Rosboro garnered from India and later on China... -
This is from today... Can't seem to remember who was who, but I think that was Kenny standing over Nuisance and making sure he was dead... That other corpse in mine... Cheers Ken!

Demanding another 1.2 Billion for the Gorshkov?! Jesus titty slapping christ! I'd hate to see how Rosboronexport treats a bad customer! They're outta their tree if they think they can reprice a sealed deal. What utter BS!! -
I've gotta 360, I just prefer games with a mouse to aim. Damned annie sticks on pads screw me up,,,

I'm into them all, although, I'm not really a big fan of how they're making them more character driven stories now. I was (am) a massive fan of Ace 4 Distant Thunder (or whatever it's name is over there) and I enjoyed Ace 5, but I just wanted to shoot some of the characters, especially F^&%$*g Pixy in Ace Zero!!! I was kinda hoping they'd have extended the aircraft modifications in Ace Combat X to all of the aircraft, not just the fictional ones, but you can't have everything I guess. I'm looking forward to the new Xbox live Ace mp! I went to pick up my copy today because the cute Jessica Alba looking chick who works at the EB in Adelaide there said it would be in by today, but Nada. Next Wednesday now. And no, I'm not telling porky pies, she really does look like Jessica Alba. I'm willing to bet sales have gone up sharply since she's been there!

Fat lot of good that's gonna do when I fire an RPG at your face! Oh, you'll detect it, that's for sure!

I usually find that half the time, the bugger that tags me, usually uses the firepower required to kill a tank, sort of negating the last stand a bit...

I'm dying to give that M-21 a go but it seems that everytime I do, the players have a run and gun mentality... Plus now that I have the ACOG for the M-4 and the M-249, it's a little redundant. It's sweet to finally have claymores that don't explode when anyone runs past. I hated that in BF2! Especially when an APC full of your guys would drive over a mine and everyone in it would be registered as a TK! What's the consensus on the Martyrdom perk? Because it's giving me the sh*ts, yet it seems to be more effective that the last stand (or at least, I suck at the last stand perk).

Wings Over New York
SayethWhaaaa replied to Shin_kazama's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That stupid 'Loose Change', 9/11 nutjob conspiracy theorist video claimed in one of their original edits that the plane that hit the Empire State Building in NY in 1946 (or whenever) was a B-52... (it was the B-25 you guys spoke of) Then in a revisionist purge worthy of Joe Stalin himself, they removed the whole reference and never spoke of it again... Hmmmmmm.... -

I'd have some AGM-65s ready for some payback for a couple of nasty, aggressive Taxi Drives I had to deal with last time I was there... And the Islanders. I can't stander the N.Y. Islanders! -
Most damaged aircraft that remained flyable

Give the A-Team's Firefox Beta a go. 0-Mach 3 in about 10 seconds. In that thing, you won't need to hide... That's 908kg (2000lb) of GBU-24A/B love that I never got to drop as after I got hit, I couldn't seem to jettison any of my external stores. It it was on the port wing pylon, it would have counter balanced the intact starbord wing. As it was, my A-6 would pull hard to the left. Lesson from this: Fly faster, release at somewhat higher altitude and pack more ECM/CM pods! -
Found out the hard way that the G3 wasn't automatic in MP the hard way last night... On that subject, I got my grubbies on the M-14 the other day. That's a mean piece of kit! Haven't had that much fun with one since GRAW 2. Oops, went a bit Johnny two time on that first sentence, first sentence.

Hey morgs, if you have a phtoshop, you can reduce it there and save it as a .jpeg. Then you'd just need to upload it to flickr or photbucket or something and it'll work like a charm...
