On it's first day of sales, Halo 3 earned Microsoft US$170 million, that's $100 million more than Spiderman 3 on opening day... http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/story...04-7486,00.html Bloody hell...

Yeah, that was a bastard of a decision, huh? All I'm saying is that it would have been a thing of beauty. And word is that its death knell was partially helped along by the US and UK... It would have been the F-4 phantom before the F-4 phantom... 'cept pointier. Oh how US pilots would hve been p*ssed flying Avro Arrow in their Blue Angels display...

Interestingly enough, Che was shot on this day 40 years ago too... ...Mach 6.7... Jeez damn that fast. Its a touch over what my bubby nephew reaches when you tell him its bath time!

I mean DeHavilland Canada (DHC) for say, the DHC-4 Caribou, the DHC-3 Beaver(?), The DHC-5 Buffalos used for firefighting. I always saw it as a bit of defiant "Screw the US" from Canada. And I can understand since, well, you know what the Yanks are like... If only they were members of the glorious Commonwealth
-
And what is the deal with you bloody Canucks renaming everything?! CT-155s, CF-188s, CP-140s... Excepting the US, the rest of us kept all of our DHC designations! What, ours aren't good enough for you?!

Hey, we all need places like San Fran, even if it's just for a little perspective. I mean the right wingers have the rabid monsters who foam at the mouth like Pat Buchanan and Ann Coulter to show them when they go too far. People like the local governments in SF who want to hark back to the days of scary Cosby show style political correctness just show the left that "Hey, there's a way we can argue our case without sounding like these complete wankers." As for the centre types, I don't know. Since Gretzky retired and Lemieux was put out to pasture, I don't think they have anyone good or bad to talk about. Come on... Blue Angels scare the wildlife?? And what do Harleys or Hemmys do then? Its BS! (admittedly, the Hornets are GD loud as we find out every year at the Clipsal 500!) Come on!! Vote Quimby!

Warning, do not operate if you have a pacemaker, medical inserts/pins, shunts, plates, fillings, braces, are prone to dizziness, flatulence or are undergoing magnet therapy. Makers of Metal Storm/Dread are not responsible for loss of fillings from rapid vibrations, chipped teeth, deafness, frozen wristwatches or explosive bowel movements. -

Not up and over but you may want to have a look at this. I stumbled across a GBU-16 having a form of terrain following last night when I accidentally released one about 100+ kms from target. It popped up over a pair of mountain ranges before descending to a rail bridge and completely missing it (it's approach was fast and with an ever so slight incline). The LGBs do some odd things like following aircraft and the like. It may be worth looking at. -
how about a f-22?

Well, the issue was, AFAIK, that he didn't want to upload it here. He added it at SimHQ and figured we could get it from there. We'd need his permission to upload it here, so I tried contacting him last October (I think, was a long time ago) and I never got a reply. Otherwise, we'd have uploaded it already! ...or something along those lines. Happenings might have happened since then... -

That's okaaaaaaaayy... but if you want something with balls (pun intended ) you might wanna see this: Short Version: Long version (9 mins): This is very similar to a test I have the fortune of attending: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vznasOXrqI This is Metal Storm, and it has something like a 10 year head start. And true to Aussie form and innovation, it was completely ignored here when the concept was demonstrated, so the company had to go overseas for funding opportunities. Our successive governments have had a tendency to drop the ball when it comes to revolutionary inventions... I mean, it just wouldn't have happened in Israel or China... -

No, I meant of the planes released for SFP. Nice pics though! -

Was it the F.3 that was buggy as hell, or was that the initial pack of GR.1s/ECRs? -

The only physical problem would be that the Skyflash missiles would be attatched to the parallel bomb racks and might overlap each other, but that's not all that big a deal anyways. Plus with the sidewinder issue being sorted in the last few months, all the big issue problems (avionics notwithstanding) are pretty much sorted. It'd be interesting to see a stunted little brother of the F.2/3 take shape! -

There was (is?) a Tornado F.3 over at SimHQ, but for some reason only some people could download it, others would get an error page. (Like me! ) I would've suggested to post a copy here but I think the problem lies with the author. Either he doesn't want it posted here or he can't be contacted. -

These are very general questions that don't have definitive answers and are subject to taste, context, etc anyways. If you want to post questions about military aviation, give this threat a looksee: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=110 as for the chaff question, I think it's covered in the Knowledge Base section: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=99 Have a poke around there and you'll find out all sorts of sweet tidbits. But, like Mr. Viking said^^, this thread is for news on the sexy new Saab for SFP and seemingly endless streams of people wanting to know when it's released because they haven't figured out that that particular question has been asked and answered 20 times already here.   -
Damn you Ironroad!! I'm hardly working as it is and now you post links to F-111 doccos... my supervisor is going to hate you! Great viewing for a lazy Wednesday arvo...

Weapons...is it all about looks?

Are you considering SODs dude? I mean, obviously they won't walk the walk, but they sure do look purdy... -
I know you're not looking for cudos, but good catch! On the bright side, it's very possible she's hit bottom (or near enough to it) and with that comes the realisation that the only place left to go from here is up...

Would fictional aircraft like the the F/A-37 Talon really fly & perform as well as it did in the movie "Stealth" if it were really built?
SayethWhaaaa replied to SkyStrike's topic in The Pub
That and the scene where the guy's counting the Mach numbers "Mach 1, Mach 2" etc, he reaches Mach 4 in just a few seconds. I've heard it said that going from practically zero, to 4000kph in just a few seconds would crush every bone in your body! -
Welcome abord Chief. I think it's five posts you'll need. This can be accomplished pretty much by just posting "Really?" in a few threads
