  1. I have joystick pedals and throttle all on one usb (unpowered) hub and they work fine with all Thirdwire, Microsoft fs, X-plane and ubisoft il2 games. If you have two joysticks then you just have to make sure that you select the right one :) But generally settings seem to get saved between games. The only problem I've ever faced is that if one of the devices becomes unplugged for any reason then settings might get mixed up - device id may get changed.

  2. The permissions look right :umnik:

    is the g drive an external usb?  Although the program seem to work ok on mine I've known of  probs in the past with some external devices. It works with all file systems as far as I can see though.

    It could be being blocked by antivirus - though mine usually gives you a dialog during install to allow you to accept it.

    I've never seen it but apparently in properties/general there is sometimes a blocked box that can be unticked.

  3. Dogfight with Loadouts

    Dogfight version 2.6 for Strike Fighters and First Eagles (Series 1 and Series 2)

    Major changes in 2.6
    The Loadouts of the aircraft as defined in each aircrafts loadout.ini can now be selected. If you hover over the loadout in the list it will display the ordanance carried.

    Fixed bug which prevented some aircraft textures from being displayed.

    Dogfight is a quick mission generator much like Microsofts Quick Combat and
    Ubisofts Quick Mission Builder.

    dogfightv2.6.thumb.png.5b071612aab452ef0039bcb55696d9f0.png

    This simple little program is an attempt to add similar facility to Thirdwire products
    without editing Mission files by hand, or struggling with a complex Mission Editor.
    So, using it you should be up and flying against a selected opponent within a few
    seconds (once you're use to the system anyway!).

    The action begins at a seperation of 0.5-4 km.

    To use you:
    1)  Start Dogfight.
    2)  Select aircraft types, numbers and heights, Pilot training etc.
    3)  Press the Red WRITE MISSION button.
    4)  LEAVE Dogfight running.
    5)  Start the Thirdwire Simulator.
    6)  Go to the Single Mission page and then Load Mission Menu.
    7)  Click on the name of the mission that you just created in dogfight(default is "0 Dogfight").

    8)  When you want to change the mission click on Alt and Tab simultaneously.
    9)  Select Dogfight, make your changes and then press the red WRITE MISSION button.
    10) Return to the Thirdwire Simulator by clicking it on the task bar (or alt tabbing if you prefer).
    11) ALWAYS RESELECT THE MISSION from the Single Mission-Load Mission Menu to update the information.
    12) Play the mission!

    Repeat 8-12 as many times as you want

    This sounds a bit long winded but you do soon get used to it.

    Installion
    -------------
    Unzip Dogfight.zip.

    Find the folder called Dogfightv2.6 containing:
    templates (folder)
    df.cfg
    dogfight.exe
    readme.txt

    COPY Dogfightv2.6 INTO THE TOP LEVEL OF THE DIRECTORY WHERE YOU INSTALL YOUR MODS. There is
    an Options.ini file in this directory as well.

    i.e Dogfightv2.6 and Objects are at the same level.

    OPEN THE Dogfightv2.6 FOLDER AND CREATE A SHORTCUT FROM dogfight.exe TO YOUR DESKTOP
    (or wherever you want to launch if from).

    Testing
    --------
    DogFight has been tested with:
    FE1 and FE2 (Viurtually all of the aircraft from CombatAce and the Skunkworks with Peter01 fms)
    SF1 (chiefly SCW)
    WOE (Principally Wings Over Russia and Wings Over Africa).
    SF2, and SFNA2, (Skunkworks PTO) (CombatAce BOB) and with additional aircraft thrown in.
    I've also tried it with some early Korean War era jets.
    Only briefly tried it with more modern types.

    The program was written using Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2017 C++ and FLTK.
    FLTK (Fast Light Toolkit) is a great free package for constructing GUIs really quickly and easily.
    Without it I doubt that I would have had time to write this program.

    Thanks

    Thanks to TK for creating a marvellous set of Sims. I love the way they work with TrackIR.

    I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the many add on creators at Combatace and
    the Skunkworks who have given me many hours of great gaming.

    I hope Dogfight helps to provide some entertainment for Thirdwire Simulator Users.

  4. The original version had only one location on each terrain for the fight to be held. Now, if the terrain has a types.ini or dogfight.ini (or both) file then they are read and added to the locations list for that terrain. Once a location is selected you can also modify the x and y positions for that location with two coordinate buttons.

    But the major reason for the change, as far as I'm concerned, was to allow different textures to be applied to all flights of aircraft. Yes you can do this for the players flight inside strikefighter/firsteagle but this allows you to select the texture of your other allies and enemies. This allow me to make more use of the wonderful textures from Julio Junqueria, Eugene2, Gertl, Trokski00, Stephen1918 (Planes too!) etc etc (I'm mainly a First Eagles player).

  5. Hi,

    I accidently copied the letter.txt as a file rather than the contents!

    If you look at the first Eagles version the text is printed out.

    The letters.txt is quite explanatory though.

    This is a really old program it was first released 6 odd years ago (v2.3).

    But basically when you run the program it creates a quick mission dialogue much like the old IL2 quick mission - though it behaves a

    bit more like CFS 2 . You save the mission - default name 0dogfight.msn into your mission directory and then load it inside strikefighter/first eagles

    in Load Mission.

    Dogfight version 2.5 for Thirdwire Simulators (Strike Fighter and First Eagles Series 1 and Series 2)

    Major changes in 2.5
    You can now select from multiple terrain positions.
    You can now select the texture that each flight of aircraft will use.

  7. Hi Stingray77,

    Glad it's useful!

    I know the starting range is a bit close for jet combat!

    Actually I've been experimenting with a 10 km range for sraam combat - though the enemy seem to be able to set things up a lot faster than a human player.

    So you often just fly straight into a sidewinder!

    I'm afraid that there is no way of selecting the paint job of the enemy at the moment.

    The best I can offer is suggesting that you make the scheme you want to select the first skin.

    Sorry.

    Hi Cood,

    There should be one start position on each terrain that you have loaded.

    What terrains do you have?

  8. Just thought I'd share this - on the comments for dogfight someone asked if it's possible to change your position...

    It is possible, unfortunately not though the interface though. In the templates folder there is a file called location.tpl

    If you open this in notepad you will see a list of terrains. Find your terrain's name.

    Change the A1PosX and a1PosY values.

    Unfortunately there is no graphical way of selecting position - but if you have a mission that takes place over an area

    that you would like to use then go to the missions folder and open the mission. Make sure that it's mission map matches your

    terrain name:

    e.g. MissionMap=wwiCambrai

    You can use any of the positions structured:

    examples are:

    Waypoint[01].Position=122200.0,130040.0,1500.0 //  the default for cambrai

    Waypoint[01].Position=170050.000000,70750.000002,0.000000

    Waypoint[06].Position=121976.049685,123437.102765,150.000000

    Waypoint[09].Position=85249.999919,142324.000000,152.000000

    the first 2 values are the x and y positions.

    Unfortunately once set you're stuck with that position until you change it again!

    Basically in order for you to select a position over the terrain you would need to select the position on

    a map and I have no intention of turning it into a full editor.

    I may mod it so that there is more than one position. But that's the most that I'm likely to do.

  9. Glad it's working for you! Got to admit although I sometimes 'keep it real' I quite often just fly one type against another to see which is the best (well in the sim and with the way I fly them anyway!). One of my current favorites is  Sopwith Camel vs Dolphin - from both cockpits. I've flown mixed rotary engine squadrons of Camels and Dr1s against inline squadrons of Se5as and Fokker DVII.

    Surprising what you find out about some of the flight models sometimes.

  12. I really am not sure what is going on here but I am very close to releasing an updated version which cares out the checks a little differently. With any look this will solve your problem.

    Does your options.ini file have  MissionMap=XXXXX in it? (The XXXXX is a terrain name)

    If so what is the name? There could be more than one - it's just the first I'm interested in.

    The new version of dogfight will use this name if it finds nothing else.

    Should be released around the weekend - maybe earlier if the testing goes smoothly

    Thanks for your patience with this Jeanba.

  13. Are your terrain folders actually called verdun and cambrai or wwicambrai and wwiverdun?

    If they don't have the wwi prefix then my location file won't currently see them.

    If this is the case then In Dogfightv2,2\templates you'll see a file called location.tpl.

    Open this in notepad and add this at the start

    Terrain=Cambrai
    A1PosX=122200.0
    A1PosY=130040.0
    HorizSep=2000.0
    StartDate=09/18/1918

    Terrain=Verdun
    A1PosX=122200.0
    A1PosY=130040.0
    HorizSep=2000.0
    StartDate=09/18/1918

    Make sure the names Cambrai and Verdun are exactly the same as your directory names - capital and small letters.

    I'll make sure that the next version of the software doesn't have this dependancy

    If this doesn't solve your problem let me know
