You know, guys, we're really touching on what makes this sim really fun. Try out flying a F-104 in WoE against a bad ass pack of modern MiGs and see if you have the skill to bring one or two down (maybe even return via some other method than the 'nylon letdown'). Not so much bragging rights associated with a Su-27 kicking a pair of F-100s, but try the other way around and we all owe respect due. We're all sim drivers now, so up the ante a bit and let's hear about some fun trips and tips in doing so. I would be so bold as to say, know your machine and weapons. Know their limits and limitations. Drive using the advantages you have, shoot fast, and get the hell out of Dodge. Eric Hartmann did it that way 352 times as I recall in an old Bf109G toward the end of WWII. If the game engine tells you the mission was a failure, bring your story here for proper kudos. With the wide variety of machines we have here to choose from, pick your fight and use a little creativity on the tactics side. Feel comfortable telling about the missions and tactics where you got wasted because everybody learns from the slick moves and the crappy ones too. After all, that is the theory of Red Flag and Top Gun.

Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam is Released!
Jug replied to Gr.Viper's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thanks to Killerbee and Gerwin for setting me straight on the CatPak. RacinDriver1, can you teach my wife how to shop for shoes in that price range? I figure I could save about $50 a trip. Prom Queens are always high-maintenance, though, so it probably wouldn't help much. -
Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam is Released!
Jug replied to Gr.Viper's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
OK, guys, I finally downloaded the Catpak and it has an EXE in the RAR file and no instructions. Any help out there. I attempted to use the cursory instructions that pop up in the command window when I fire the EXE but, following those directions, I keep getting the error message "File not a proper CAT file." in the command window when I drag a file over the EXE as instructed. I admit to being a little slow on the uptake, but what am I missing here? Any suggestions? -
We, indeed, lost a few brothers unbeknownst to all but God, their families, and the black ops world. U_2C_Shotdown.bmp

Hey guys, just downloaded both of TK's new games. Cool! Congratulations to TK. Bye the way, is there a new SFP1E Extract Utility for these new games? Did I miss something earlier? Must have had a Senior moment. -

I still think a couple of wings of Flankers with American engines and avionics. Whew, what a beast!! -
Possible OV-10 Production Line Restart
Jug replied to Jimbib's topic in Military and General Aviation
The OV-10 would be a great aircraft for our own Border Patrol. Actually it has many, many uses. Pirate patrol, fire patrol, Taliban monitor, etc., etc. -

Veltro, you have done it again. Beautiful!! Bye the way, which Data.INI file should I use, the one that came unwrapped or the one that came zipped within the pack? What's the difference? -
RIP Sandra. Thoughts and Prayers to her family and to you and yours, Viper.

Good on you. No substitute for determination, courage, and air passing under your ass. (No Dave, that is not swamp gas) Best of luck to you.

Killerbee, here is a test. Which was worse, the American economy, the Vol offense, or the Auburn offense last fall? The competition was, indeed, keen. Glad no one was hurt in your area. My brother lives in Knoxville and is a huge Big Orange fan. Lots of my family in Nashville and things there were very scary. All well. Thoughts and prayers for the families that lost loved ones.

I like the idea of inspiration. You inspire Somalia to join the rest of the planet as a law-abiding nation. As a peace-loving, tree-hugging, American liberal, methinks a 200kt nuke in the top two camps should do the trick. A mushroom cloud is very inspiring. Ask the Japs.

I beg to differ with you on this, Typhoid. As an AF type, I enjoy poking good fun at my Naval Aviator brothers, but I, absolutely, never take them for granted nor lack respect for the very powerful arm they give our country. It appears to me a disservice to the Naval Aviation to claim all that they are came from the RN. In my opinion, this is off the mark. All the more so since I have been trying to smack the postage stamp without dying. Damn things just won't hold still!!!!

May we all consider carefully the lessons of our various religions and realize that they're more alike than they are different. May we live, learn, and take the time to apply those lessons to our daily lives. We were given the chance at Passover, at the Cross, and at the mercy of Mohammed. May peace dwell in our households and give me the opportunity to experience more intense Wo* sim action.

Rafale

I'm doing some decal work to make a "what if" USN Rafael. The skins that have come out have the French roundels already in place, so I have having to cover them with US insignia. Any better ideas? -
Somebody smarter than I am said once that you should learn from everyone, enemy as well as friend. A smart thing to do is a smart thing to do. NVietnam pilots in older aircraft taught us a few lessons and our staunch allies taught us a few more. We learn, adapt, and overcome. Thanks, brothers and respect due! It is, also, good to know that Tom Cruise is really a Brit. Doesn't explain it all, but it helps a lot.

Yankee Air Pirates - To Buy Or Not To Buy
Jug replied to Piecemeal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I vote with Dave on this. My opinons pretty much match his. I would expand a bit and say that to have an opportunity to fly some real missions as translated by the YAP team from the real flyers during a difficult war is dear to me. I flew with some of these guys and each driver that pitched in a mission from his "pirate" days** is high on my hero totum pole. It is a small tribute to each to go fly the missions they flew and see what it was like. Full credit and respect to the YAP crew for a product, to me, that is worth twice what I paid for it. ** days when you were young, firm, virile, 10 feet tall, bulletproof, hostile, mobile, and agile. All that is left these days is the "Arrrrgh" when you shoot a straight shot of Pyrate Rum.
