  1. Found some pictures of the actual aircraft and placed the lights where they clearly were on the aircraft. Added some steering capability to the front gear which helps on takeoff/taxiing. Veltro, the front gear needs to lift the aircraft to a nose high posture, I would assume, to set the takeoff angle of attack. The way the aircraft rests now the fuselage appears parallel to the ground and both the main gear trucks are at the same height. Actual photos of the aircraft show a definite nose high attitude and I cannot tweak the Data.ini to get it to look right. Is there anything you can do? Bye the way, sweet job. Good on you! Bison_Addons.txt
  2. Ahhh......now there you go! Looks great. Once again thanks for the beautiful Bison.
  3. Add the K-36 ejection seat and landing lights to the new Fencer. You must add the K-36 ejection seat from here at CA IAW readme instructions to get the seat to show up as indicated in this tweak. Fencer_Addons.txt
  4. OK, I really am getting excited. Is that a U-2R, U-2S, or a TR-1? Is this sweet or what? Veltro, been thinking (dangerous exercise), the nose high attitude may be what the Russian engineers built into the aircraft to get it to fly. In other words, your problem of not lifting off the runway prior to end may have been a real life problem. Their solution may have been to cock the aircraft in a takeoff Angle of Attack by varying the rear and front landing gear extension lengths. If you design the aircraft to sit on the runway looking like it is about to takeoff, it may solve the riding off of the end of the runway thing. Same sort of thing happend with the first F-4 takeoff which resulted in an F-4 in the overrun at the departure end of the runway and, eventually, the trademark Phantom downward canted slabs. Engineers don't do everything right either. Sometimes their mistakes are really expensive.
  5. And a good man at that. Got your six, Dave. All things act funny outside of the drag of the atmosphere. Me included.
  6. Miramar crash update

Never, repeat never, pass up a good airpatch with a bad jet. Rule of thumb that most aviators learn early. This one didn't get the message.
  7. Bear over Canada

The first largest and most tragic mistake is to underestimate the enemy and the second is to mistake your enemy. Russia is not an enemy of the United States. Has not been since the end of the cold war. If a situation evolves that involves military action by Russia against the USA, nobody will win. The opening of the Iron Curtain has shown many weaknesses in the Soviet arms, but has shown some brilliant and amazing strengths as well. They just haven't had the money to pursue the paths on the aviation frontier paved by the likes of the Flanker, Foxhound and Fulcrum series of aircraft. In case you haven't noticed, in the hands of a good jet driver, these stand tall amongst the best in the world today anyway. I would not like to take them on in any numbers given what I have learned piddling around in some WoE missions and campaigns. Yeah, yeah, not reality, but close enough given our modding community's high quality products to make the message clear. As our forum moderators have advised, this is not the site for politics, but, suffice it to say, sabre rattling is for external and internal consumption. Remember, also, that a sabre is a sabre, old or new, and in the hands of a determined adversary, all the threat you or I would care to deal with. An old Japanese Betty will hurt somebody today with a good devious plan and a determined driver.
  8. As a non-modder, but as an experienced pilot, the more detail and accuracy you put into your map model the better you will feel about the end product and, more importantly, the better the sim aviators can use it. Old saying is that buildings/town are built and destroyed as are roads, but mountains and rivers rarely change and are the pimary source of visual cues for visual navigation. Having said that, be reasonable. Get the big ones in and do a few odds and ends as you will. I can assure you that your fan club will not hold you to an impossible standard. We are all about enjoying what you do give us all and greatly appreciative of your efforts.
  9. UK People

My vote is for the Duxford Imperial War museum, but it would probably require an overnight stay. Trains pretty much run on time an you could get up there and back fairly easy. Didn't do the wenching thing (wife disapproves), but you can wander into any Pub and you will be delighted with the British folks there. Now there will be a bum or two, just like here, but the real treat is to toss a few down with a couple of the locals, get them wound up, and let them loose. They are, as always, the true treasue of the UK. Carefull with the slang though, I'm pretty sure tossing means something other than what I just said here.
  10. Guess who unretired...

I'm an old O-line vet from the SEC and my knees never looked like that, even after my injury to my left knee. You must be an absolute glutton for punishment giving this a go at your age. I admire your courage, but have to question your judgement. For all you woosie soccer fans, the hitting is the sport in American Football. It's all about pain and agony and who wants it the most. Take note that it is all about who we are.
  11. I have been waiting for this forever and it looks like it has been worth the wait. Absolutely beautiful work, Erikgen and associates. Thanks ahead of time!!!!!!
  12. WTF is this?

    Vive la France!
  13. Heros of our Time..

Respect due to a true warrior.
  14. Veltro! How sweet it is? Looks like another of your winners. A Rooskie Vark, now there will be something to fly.
  15. SAC is Back.

My guess is that the nuclear strike force will get whatever assets it needs. If it needs tankers, off you boys will go. This nation's conventional forces, formidible as they are, are nothing compared to the "big stick" of the nuclear strike arm. Always has been and always will be. We can nudge a foreign power and, on occasion, slap them around a little with the conventional arms, but when time for kidding around is over, the big boys will be called in and the bleak future for said foreign power is the stone age and nothing less. Makes favorable negotiations seem like a real good thing in comparison. Imagine a map with a smoking hole between Iraq and Afganistan where Iran used to be and you'll get my drift. I am pleased to note that we have decided that we cannot play fighter pilot rules with nuclear weapons. You are looking for a lot higher level of professionalism and, evidently, we're not getting it today. Good on my Air Force for righting the ship before something stupid and very serious occured. Our Marines say it best, "We can be your best friend, or your worst enemy....your choice". I kinda like that better than "Peace is Our Profession". I always thought the words were ludicrous surrounding a mailed fist.
  16. BAD DAY BAD DAY BAD DAY!

Is this the "cup's half empty" thread? You're upright, alive, and nobody shot at you today. All the rest falls under the category, "S**t happens". Good thing you guys are tough or the rest of us would have to read more and more about your sufferings. How would you like to wake up as the next Hamas waddie selected for a "martyr" mission or in 10,000 other less fortunate circumstances than your own? Not a lot of sympathy or mercy here. Suck it up and go.
  17. There is a sweeeeeeeeeeet Frogfoot on the way. Did some FM flying with it and movin' dirt around Soviet style was never so much fun.............!!!!
  18. Battle of the Bulge!

I'm old and it doesn't matter any more. I work out every day and could care less what I weigh. My wife hounds me to hell about having a heart attack, but, since none of us get out of this life alive, I can think of lots worse ways to go. Since I didn't bust my fair ass flying jets in my pirate days, I figure I'm living on borrowed time anyway. All a matter of perspective.................
  19. About Damn Time!

I'm with you, Jarhead. Well said.
  20. After using my WoE to create DS, I moved it to another drive and renamed the folder. I then did a clean install of WoE and patched it up to Oct 2008b variant. Now, when I attempt to load up 3rd party aircraft, some will load and some will load, but when selected to fly, error out with a polite request to notify mother Microsoft about the error. I always send the problem to MS just to let them know I am thinking about them. I have loaded the terrain, effects, and flight goodies from CA, and I am running XP SP[current], 4gb RAM, SATA HD, etc. [loaded on the hardware side]. Anybody else had this difficulty??
  21. Thanks, Dave, but it is still occuring inconsistantly. I will write ThirdWire and request an uncorrupted version of the singlemission.dll and start again from there.
  22. I tried the graphics update to the flightengine.ini file and was able to get some 3rd party aircraft into WoE and fly fine. That's the good news. The bad news is that the aircraft that I had put in there previous to the flightengine.ini mod now are aborting the entire application. The event viewer has a series of error messages all pointing to the singlemission.dll that is, evidently corrupt, not working, or something else. Anybody out there have a good singlemission.dll that they can send me in a PM or should I go back to Third Wire? Chomping at the bit here......................
  23. OK, I must have missed that thread on the flightengine.ini fix. Can you help with a link to the CA thread so I can catch up? Thanks in advance.
