STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
eraser_tr replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'll be holding off until modularity with future content is confirmed and that everything from all the past versions work. I'll eventually get all the "new" versions so the future content (like suez and whatever he's clearly making but hasn't told us details of yet) can all fit together. And of course how to edit where **** goes so I don't have everything in C:\my documents. Damn microsoft and their policies! -
IL2 1946 has all of the il2 versions packaged together, so it's your best bet for WW2 simming.

bizarro campaign editing error
eraser_tr posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
I was editing the excellent red swarm campaign by scrapper with the new updates. I didn't want any squadrons removed so I went and did some editing to keep things like the swedes and aussies. In doing so, something got screwed up somewhere, but I can't find it. every unit I've tested so far (all US WGermany, Belgium) units work fine. Most RAF units are fine except one, when selected I somehow wind up with an A-10 and the loadouts are all screwed up. The main ini entry is [RAFUnit001] UnitName=No. 17 RAF Jaguar ForceID=1 UnitID=30 StartDate=07/04/1985 DescFile=RAF.txt StartText=RedSwarmStart.txt CampaignBaseScreen=raf.bmp AircraftType=JaguarGR The Data entry is [AirUnit030] AircraftType=JaguarGR Squadron=No. 17 RAF ForceID=1 Nation=RAF DefaultTexture=RAF StartDate=07/04/1985 BaseArea=Oldenburg Airbase BaseMoveChance=50 RandomChance=100 MaxAircraft=16 StartAircraft=16 MaxPilots=16 StartPilots=16 Experience=100 Morale=100 Supply=50 MissionChance[sWEEP]=50 MissionChance[CAP]=0 MissionChance[iNTERCEPT]=0 MissionChance[ESCORT]=60 MissionChance=50 MissionChance[CAS]=40 MissionChance[sEAD]=40 MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=50 MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=0 MissionChance[RECON]=50 UpgradeType=NEVER Supply[001].WeaponType=Tank_NADR Supply[001].Quantity=400 Supply[002].WeaponType=AIM-9J Supply[002].Quantity=700 Supply[003].WeaponType=ALQ-101 Supply[003].Quantity=56 Supply[004].WeaponType=Phimat-UK Supply[004].Quantity=234 Supply[005].WeaponType=M117 Supply[005].Quantity=989 Supply[006].WeaponType=MARTEL Supply[006].Quantity=112 Supply[007].WeaponType=LE_155 Supply[007].Quantity=199 Supply[008].WeaponType=PaveSpikeRAF Supply[008].Quantity=20 Supply[008].WeaponType=GBU-123 Supply[008].Quantity=30 Now forgive me if I'm missing something, but everything matches up properly, and this wasn't one of the units that had any changes applies to it anyway. help -
Next time you stop at the scene of an accident, consider this

The woman who pulled her from the car feared the car was going to explode, that's "further injury or imminent death" but they don't report if the car did explode. There's alot more information needed: what injury caused the paralysis, how that injury was sustained, I would think if the injury caused paralysis it would have been from whiplash, not pulling someone from the car. Unless she pulled her out by the neck or seriously contorted it in the process. Was she conscious and alert enough at the time to tell she wasn't paralyzed before her friend pulled her from the car? Though I would have to agree with the court, that pulling someone from a car doesn't count as medical care. It's only a ruling for if a lawsuit can go forward, either way. -

Well the base is on the correct side of the line. I even swapped it out for one of the RAF squadrons that worked properly (so its not a nation/force thing either) Today, it's ploping me into soviet units and the game crashes after about a second loading the map from the mission prep screen. ALL other squadrons but this one are completely fine WTF! I've had this problem before, but it was always with adding the soviets to the flyable list. EDIT: Well I figured it out. Apparently the JaguarGR.ini went AWOL but all of the plane's other files remained (not quite sure how) replaced it and it works now. -
Hrm, when I was looking at it, all the reviews were fairly mediocre.

17 years for a real conflict might be a bit too soon to do tastefully. We've yet to have vietnam or korea done well in a game(at least outside of flight sims), and the wounds are still there from the war. Some have tried vietnam, but only the MP battlefield iteration was of any quality. But in europe they're alot more strict about violence in media too.

What if australia bought F-35Cs? Those are meant for naval useto begin with and should have better range than the A or B. I wouldn't trust those simuations though, so much about the JSF and how it all works is classified. Getting an accurate sim of unknown data is impossible. From the little JSF_aggie is allowed to say, it sounds like the public and other governments are missing out on alot.

I look at it most like st0rm and falconCAF, it's a simulation of what it was like to be a pilot/soldier for a particular country and in flight sims, create another profile. "my" pilot I fly campaigns for the US or if its not an option, an allied nation, with the WOX comms it's certainly more natural feeling than to be flying as a french pilot and have rednecks hollering at red crown over the radio. One thing I've found with games, Even when you're playing as a "bad guy" of a game, they almost always do something to offset the feeling of doing wrong. Like with operation flashpoint, a russian campaign has you switching over to help the resistance. Few games let you really be despicable, and most moral choice in games tend to be too simple with one as an obvious good and another obviously bad. Bioshock, KOTOR and the fallout series throw some complex stuff at you.

Does the "Crisis" affected you (or your country) yet?

Retirement accounts gone in my family, with parents reaching retirement age, or used to be at least. Beyond that, nothing so directly, but we're worried about the future. All four of us are working (brother and two parents) me and my brother less so, since we're both full time college students. Both of us will still be in school a while (med and law school) so no idea what jobs will be like, or even if the loans will be available for either. It's pretty much the consensus here that the financial situation is too screwed up to fix. It gets so complicated the way they shift investments around and create money out of nothing that you have to just wipe the slate clean in order to stop the downward spiral. -

"The snozzberries taste just like snozzberries." -
Well the actual price of doing things has gone up dramatically. Until the F-15 and it's generation came around, we built and bought aircraft in the thousands. Now there won't even be 300 F-22s since they're over 100 million each. I wonder how much it would cost to build a new F-4 phantom today compared to the 60s?

Anyone use kouts' USAF Fighters Menu?

I use the ATF one....the weapons supply tab and campaign difficulty tab don't work for me. Nor does it show the start date or aircraft. How'd you get those working? -

War, war never changes - Ron Perlman, Fallout. The only things that will end war on this planet is our extinction, some kind of miracle where we no longer need to compete for resources or wealth, or something beyond this world presents itself as a common threat for us to unite against. -

making them all interconnectable from the start sounds great! However, I'm worried about this folder structure thing. Vista is supposed to love shoving everything in the "users" directory without any option to be anywhere else (vista users, please correct me if I'm wrong) I REALLY REALLY don't want the structure getting changed and having s**t on my system drive, which I insist on keeping as clean as possible for easy reformat and reinstall. I HATE having games store stuff in my documents on my C:\ drive, it's almost filled to the limit as is! I'm hoping for a little more polish, better comms and a livelier campaign. And a proper quick mission creator on par with other sims. -
You see, it's all about surface tension. But what the hell is that splash to his left from (or in front of him if he hasn't displaced any water yet?) I was temped to make a religious joke, but decided it would be better not to....

Well for some people, it becomes something of an addiction. They become obsessed with altering their appearance, or they've spent their entire life in front of a camera, and the thought of becoming old and losing their beauty is too much for them. Sadly the result is much worse, in that people getting so much plastic surgery become societal jokes. The Joan Rivers Geico commercial comes to mind here. As far as the guy and the bot...who knows? maybe his pheremones are screwed up or he's a fellow terminally nice guy.

That's why I'll always prefer cats. Dogs are great, but you just don't get that kind of entertainment out of anything but a cat.

But since it's no longer really a monthly contest thing, does that still hold up? -
Don't rewrite history. We won the battle of the bulge, and our boys were surrounded and outnumbered. And regardless of the war's outcome or politics our soldiers have always performed exceptionally in battle.

Someone in Iran found a picture of the X-29 demonstrator? The irony is quite something. The "death to america" Imadinnerjacket and Iran photocopy a patriotic symbol of the US Navy and our experimental planes. I wonder if they've tried to copy the nighthawk or have blue? -

In addition to what panama red said, its the name of a payware addon for wings over vietnam that goes into incredible detail and has missions based on the stories of real missions from the stories of their pilots. -
Never quite has been unfortunately. We actually face a greater problem than in the 30s. At least then we had money to use government spending to fuel recovery, and we produced far more than we imported.
