Rick Rawlings Let's Play WOFF
Polovski replied to Rick Rawlings's topic in WOFF BH&H2 - General Discussion
You could be onto something there Rick ! Nice ventilation in your DR1 wing btw. -
Hi all, There's a new Development News update for September 2024 up on the WOFF website now, with new images. Also, the new name for WOFF B&H II Expansion is revealed! Enjoy. https://www.overflandersfields.com/index.html

That's a good point WW. I use about 8 buttons and usually end up pressing the key on the keyboard instead anyway :) Main ones are throttle, mixture, blip, gun. Maybe some for bomb / loadout selection and firing of the ordinance. I guess you could add the Z key F6 readout etc, things like that.
-
Thanks WW, No problem, totally understandable. Things are tough across the board for most folk these days. Hang in there I hope you do well and get through the tough time. We are hanging in there, not that far to go. We decided to spend more time on a flyable aircraft model for inclusion, but then we'll test more. Not too far to go now.

turn off (audio) radio messages?
Polovski replied to phoenix1001's topic in WOFF/WOTR - FAQ/Technical Issues
Glad you are enjoying it. Sorry I missed this thread. Unfortunately, there is no real easy answer. You cannot disable the radio sounds totally. Although, some sounds are only used if you are the leader and calling a vector to the target. Other than that the only way you could make them "less system intensive" is to replace each sound with a tiny sound file such as a 0 byte or very tiny sound file. However there are lots of the sound files, and you would have to replace all of them or most of them. There are also several sets that get called in depending on your pilot nationality, but if you play only 1 nation mostly you could just replace those. Basically you need to ... First backup the whole folders and files found in ..\WOTR\WOTRScenery\Sounds\Radio contents to somewhere outside of WOTR Then replace all the wav files found in the 3 folders in ..\WOTR\WOTRScenery\Sounds\Radio` (there are two sets in the Britain folder so in ..\WOTR\WOTRScenery\Sounds\Radio\Britain\Set1 ..\WOTR\WOTRScenery\Sounds\Radio\Britain\Set2 for example) Try flying and see, if there's an error you will need to replace them. There are other tips that may help in the WOTR FAQ (see section 13 for example). This is available from the Support page on the website to help with performance. Reducing some settings in Workshops (trees, Terrain, Scenery, Airfields, number of aircraft and much more see FAQ section 13 for example). Updating sound drivers to the latest for your motherboard sound card, latest motherboard and chipset drivers etc can help with performance too. Also assigning TrackIR, and other programs to not use CPU0/1 and only use other cores can help too. Other tweaks can help such as using faster SSD drives and so on. -
It seems pretty good but there are other similar tools out there too, some paid some freeware.
-
Hi Slo-Mo, the engine itself supports only 32. Possibly something we could do in the future, not sure. Glad you and the guys and gals above are enjoying too. You could try using Joystick buttons/key mapping tools such as JoytoKey? Official site; https://joytokey.net/en/

Technical issues - New player
Polovski replied to JohnWick75's topic in WOFF/WOTR - FAQ/Technical Issues
Welcome JohnWick75, WOTR is more demanding that WOFF generally, there are various tips in the FAQ for example section 13 if you want to smooth things some. CPU is very much more important and the main core raw speed, perhaps try freeing up cores by limiting background apps or assigning them away from CPU 0/1. -
Any Chance for fixing the Black City Ground Textures and rivers for AMD GPUs?
Polovski replied to Tonci87's topic in WOFF BH&H2 - General Discussion
As per the thread I pointed you to last time you queried this, AMD drivers caused this they changed along the way. We don't have a fix for that, as rivers are treated differently within the engine. We do not own any AMD GPUs in Dev (and have no funds to buy GPUs/PCs or much free dev time to work on this stuff) but if you have time or someone does these are possibilities ..... 1) The textures are pretty standard DDS DTX1 (no alpha). There are a lot, as each season has a set. You could limit your testing to Summer only, and open and convert to DDS DXT3 or something to see what happens. A DTX editor such as DTXBMP (Martin Wright's) can do this. https://www.mwgfx.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm However note opening a DDS and then resaving it again, loses quality each time. So make a master backup to revert to for any tests. You could download The River Mod by Olham which changed the colours just to show you which files are involved in Rivers. See Sandbagger's site http://www.thatoneplease.co/WOFF.html. on http://www.thatoneplease.co/terrainWOFF.html If it works then cities would be next ;) 2) There is also an alpha/beta Terrain water mod by Xavier that uses vector rivers that may help with rivers - I have no idea if it fixes the issue with AMD though. See Sandbagger's WOFF and WOTR Mods site. I don't see working links at the moment but perhaps someone can post a working link, VonS maybe? -

Hi all, A new Update V1.38 for Wings Over Flanders Fields Between Heaven and Hell II (WOFF BH&H II) has been released! It contains improvements to some 2-Seater combat behaviour that also have forward firing guns. Please see the News page for more - or visit the Downloads page to get it, and to read more in the History of Changes section.
-
WOFF V1.38 update soon All being well, we will release a patch soon that will greatly reduced the aggressiveness of some 2 Seaters that have front guns, in combat situations: namely D.H.4, Strutter A2, Rumpler C.IV, D.F.W, Hannover C.III, Breguet 14, R.E.8. Others that did act more aggressively historically, will still do so, such as Bristol Fighter F2B, Roland C.II and F.E.2b. They will attack or defend (F.E.2b so it can bring to bear the front observer gun that was preferred to the ineffective rear gun). Credit and thanks to Hellshade for the pic!

Just purchased. Unable to download.
Polovski replied to grinningmonk's topic in WOFF BH&H2 - General Discussion
Sorry, did not see this earlier twas Sunday ;) but we sorted it as you say, -
Yes it means he landed elsewhere, not at the homefield, as pilots sometimes did. Maybe he had low fuel/damage/system failure, or decided he didn't like the look of 10 enemies ahead when his morale took over and he bugged out ;) WOFF A.I. Good init.

AI Aircraft crash when landing at Sivry-sur-Meuse
Polovski replied to Tonci87's topic in WOFF/WOTR - FAQ/Technical Issues
BTW I removed the AI Bug tag as it's not an AI bug, it's usually an airfield layout issue. -
Baxter, it does not need to be unpacked OBDWW2 Wings Over The Reich folder, and in fact you shouldn't put extra files there generally. Sounds like some issue with the permissions on your PC. Maybe just unzip to a newly created folder somewhere first (on your desktop or wherever). Also V1.04 also only works on BOF Expansion of course. WOTR itself is on Version 1.25.

Return to flight after re-install question
Polovski replied to HumanDrone's topic in WOTR - General Discussion
Hi HD, No need to patch WOTR. Just install WOTR then BOF, then get BOF's update patch. https://www.wingsoverthereich.com/downloads-bof.htm It's explained in the FAQ. https://www.wingsoverthereich.com/index_htm_files/WOTR-FAQ.pdf Section 2. -
Can I influence the war in anyway in WOFFBH2?
Polovski replied to ProblemChild's topic in WOFF BH&H2 - General Discussion
Glad you are enjoying WOFF ProblemChild. To answer your question, no you cannot affect the war. As it's historical, main events will happen when they did. Famous battles and so on, you cannot change those. You are a tiny cog, and trying to survive in the churner - that's what we are aiming for.- 8 replies
