  1. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

What you said Hasse Wind ;). This screenshot thread is a tad off kilter now.
  2. Phase 4 - the DH4 Petition

Lewie that's 25 people (more actually) who had great serious intentions, long discussions, actively learning or making models in Gmax - progressing etc. All this was very time sapping. Is learning to make models for CFS3 format a big commitment time wise? Yes, absolutely always say that. Totally agree on the learning curve - again I always stress that VERY clearly and up front when discussing with potential modellers. I know I started with nothing and learned the hard steep way too. You can also use other programs as long as you can convert. You only need GMax to export. Gmax is free, plenty of info out there. It's basically 3DStudio 4 so many basic features work the same way even as the current versions. Also you can use 3D Studio if you have it or any program that can export to .3ds. Simply import at the end and finish off in Gmax to export. I'm not having a go at Bullethead? What? He isn't making models for us. I admire his determination to learn and his Morane AI I am sure is great - not useful for WW1 and has not been offered or shown to us though? It's a fact people start then give up - just takes too much time yes. Maybe Argon does have particular models that could be used, I have not seen every model in WW1:SDOE. The few I have seen a while back were low poly in the VC but if you say some are great and if you believe modellers would like to donate them for our use? We'd have to contact each and every modeller who has them around the net to ask permission to modify / use the models to OFF and CFS3 requirements and also they would require re-mapping,relinking, renanimating, often new Virtual cockpits needed etc so most models made for other sims are fairly useless to us time wise. BTW the external LOD100 is usually the part offered but is the least of our worries.
  3. Phase 4 - the DH4 Petition

Ah one of the we must have <insert fav plane> requests Widowmaker only took 5 years of constant badgering to get his Snipe into P4 lol. Seriously we'd love to have it and many more, just the 25+ modellers who have come offered assistance then vanished hasn't helped the cause much! But agreed it's a good workhorse and we need it and it's on the long list as many others are ...just as usual the problem is time
  4. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Well the model isn't mega high detail so some parts are approximation such as the cut out but sure the sight part is in the wrong place no idea how I got that so maybe mixed photos, but I'll move it sometime then.
  5. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Yes the compass is viable, simply eer look down with TrackIR :) or press F6 key to get to it as usual in most of the craft. Elephant noo the rifle is a MKIII 1904 - I did say that but seems to have been missed.
  6. sight circle problem

Unfortunately the big bucks where splashed out on a new mouse for Winder, so no car :/
  7. Alternative DVD Cover

It's fitting the 64 piece orchestra that will be tricky...
  8. High Res - Normal Res

Yes for sure, always use a pure original where possible to resave from - just DDS is particularly bad gets noticeable worse as you go quickly.
  9. sight circle problem

Lol if it works you mean Parky but thanks ;)
  10. High Res - Normal Res

Yes Duke. Open the DDS once, save as BMP or PSD or whatever first. Then you can tweak clarify details that you want then save as DDS. Keep the BMP or original always to do more work on later, never reimport the dds. Not a lot of people know that ;) When you save it compresses. Open, save (now you have a doubly compressed file now). Not the same for other formats but for DDS is so.
  11. sight circle problem

Sounds like you pressed F6 to go to another cockpit view (which you can't see as you turned off the cockpit with F3). Try pressing F3 and check what you are looking at first, and press F6 (each press cycles through the available views) to get to the normal Pilot forward view /seat.
  12. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Thanks for the comments guys things are looking good all over hard to take bad screenshots really and even the rest of the stuff we have not discussed or shown yet is coming together nicely the guys are doing wonders. No date yet of course :) (Was wondering when someone would notice those Hellshade lol).
  13. Alternative DVD Cover

    Super cover theultimat
  14. Amazed by High-res Skin

We spent a lot of time on research and testing on the Albatros FM feel and overall I think we have it about right, and of course everyone has an opinion. It's a solid war machine designed for killing with 2 guns and loads of ammo, not a twitchy delicate flying machine like the Brits made. The RFC pilot test report commented on the very heavy feel of the Albatros controls and response compared to the light allied craft like Nieuports.
  15. High Res - Normal Res

High res skins are definitely much better, if you don't see it make sure the skin is sharp (importing and re-exporting dds makes them go much fuzzier (DDS is compressed then you are re-compressing again). Also maybe make sure you have the Aircraft slider high too.
  16. Scheduled Shelling?

It occurs at places across the front, you can often see it right into the distance in areas lighting up. Also you should see more around major battles /offensives. Also maybe bump up the effects sliders to make sure you see all things.
  17. Clouds killing FPS

Unfortunately these days your system is fairly low end, in video card, GPU memory, and CPU speed. Beefing one or more of those will help some and playing with the settings (see FAQ dfor NVidia and ATI tweaks, also close down all programs running in taskbar where possible etc.
  18. OFF In the Workplace.

LOL Flyby maybe you can make a whole Dr1 ? :)
  19. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Thanks guys, it's all coming together well from everyone working hard in the team. Rex has done some magic stuff too but for another time.. Release date? LOL Olham I don't think there's much to worry about the angle is small for the Lewis pretty tied up in between struts oh and avoiding the pilot's forehead! Elephant well there are all sorts of variants even within the marks themselves but it is an Mk.III (first out around 1904 I think).
  20. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

BTW I did actually hit something with the Lee Enfield too lol but you are pretty much fly swatting with a toothpick.
  21. Good idea Parky - for the sake of good order closed :)
  22. Couple of P3 questions...

Lewie sorry but it is NOT a CFS3 thing. There are NO spawns in OFF. They are disabled by us, this is an important point. ALL flights are on their OWN missions, totally generated by OFF Manager. Sorry but this is one of our important features we are proud of so have to correct that. You may meet craft in the same area often because there is a very active squadron in that area. It is NOT because they are spawned there, unless of course if you are bypassing the OFF manager to launch missions or you are flying CFS3 QC option then that may be different. If you warp a lot you will often meet enemies, if you fly with no aids, and no warp you will often miss each other.
  23. Couple of P3 questions...

As the guys say 2 seaters especially German tend to fly high - get up there first if you like (you can also tweak mission altitude settings in workshop for your flights). Plus we are still making OFF there are dozens of aircraft we'd like in there but they take a lot of time to make and implement in the sim. One day we may have dozens of more squads in there flying other 2 seaters etc. Try another area of the front where it's busier, (or maybe more 2 seater squads near) or try later in the war where more flights occur and more meetings - one good thing in OFF you have nearly 300 squads to choose from. As above sometimes you may be chosen to lead anyway, do what your commander says! Also on some ground attack missions you will lead as some AI are not as disciplined and tend to want to go for other targets otherwise, they need you to keep them in check and target for them. There's one or two sections on most of this this in the FAQ. For example under "1.2) Game Play Hints" mentions lead flight items.
  24. HitEB on eBay

Would be great if Alex could get some more published we could link on the web :D - mmm even digital version would be good.
  25. Couple of P3 questions...

33Lima I'm working on the Be2 at the moment so have to decide on armament - there are some issues with some of the loadouts which limits it some, but we will move the side gun anyway.
