  1. No shadows aren't being looked into - they are a fundamental part of the CFS3 engine so we cannot easily alter them. Certainly won't be for P3. Use the Graphics Config to turn them off if they are no good for you. Also try reducing AA or other settings as it will also be trying to apply AA on the shadows. Note This is meant to be a clean information thread so would appreciate no more questions here- please use the main forum for questions. I'll have to remove the extra posts in here shortly as this is cluttering the thread up.

    AI can be mixed in flights.
  3. Each aircraft can have it's own pilot skill. Usually they are similar or same though based on squadron rating. On the subject of "merging" AI's.. P4 is the only place we can try mould AI traits properly from now. It's not easy, AI in any sim is very difficult to program, there are several approaches but often one behaviour counteracts another in certain situations - making it all good in all areas at all times with all craft is the holy grail.

    It's because of the a/c type we have to select for other reasons, including stopping dive bombing or getting craft not suitable trying to fight like Biffs. P4 Maybe.

    Try other tweaks then such as video card tips, les more settings in nvidia/ati panel. Shutdown backgound processes (disk Indexing on??) etc. same with all sims and games out there some people get stutters with some beauty of PC gaming takes some tweaking and investigating usually. Try increasing swap file, lowering ground sliders will lower texture requirements which may help reading etc etc.

    Yeah was just going to say "security software (Microsoft Security Essentials)" red alarm bells started ringing the moment I read that line, before reading the rest of your post ;) Never used it but that would be my very first thought if you'd have said that at the start ;). Not sure re Safemode you can try, or check with MS how to disable MSE first.
  8. Make sure you don't create a pilot in a squadron with Nieuport 10 selected.. it's not available yet and tells you on screen. Create new pilot, but scroll the date along to a time when the a/c is available. Try that. (I'll delete the extra pictures as they are because of the previous issue). If you get that issue when creating a pilot come out and back in and try again, could be a timing issue.

    See my post above for AI, and the known issues. No need to tell us you see it as everyone will see it. Stutters as with all PC games everyone is different. Try lowering your terrain and scenery slider 1. HitR is higher quality for a start. Also try the usual tweaks (there's a lot in the forums and FAQ) - limiting cfs3 max fps etc in cfs3.xml for example found in "Default" folder to say 30.

    CFS3 often needs it especially with some auto centering joysticks. For me I spent years with my Saitek 3D Force always having to circle all axis, and throttle before take off with CFS3 or OFF, but now make it a pre flight check and all is good :)
  11. As per the known issues it's not working properly, not much point in discussing how what why it affects at this stage as it's not working properly ;) It will soon be back to P3 standard where it should be - hang in there guys. Any major changes from that will be in a future addon or P4.

    I use Windows 7 64 bit no issues with it, and many others do too, so it's not Win 7 per se. AV or some other issue, check your ram and system (see the FAQ for tips). New RAM doesn't mean it's not damaged or some other issue. Save to a new location too, preferably a new drive. Disable firewall and AV and any other apps like that and run offline (unplug internet).

  15. Yeah no problem Creaghorn, I'm just pointing it out for others - we have to compromise some, some people want none, some want lots, some in between - so we do what we believe is best. Just saying to the others to maybe give it a go first and see before modding.

    Also 1 thing, sometimes you can run a program from inside the zip -i.e. open it in winzip or winrar etc, then double click (this then uses temp area and unpacks as it tries to run). So if you didn't unpack to a folder do that instead. i.e. unpack to a folder, go to the folder and run the file. Also try Winzip, or WinRar to do this if you are using windows' built-in zip reading instead - with Winrar you can choose Test archive option to verify the zip first.

    Yeah thanks Olham. Basically the AI is not working as it should be as per p3 - we will restore it back to as it was in v1.32G. P4 we can work on all sorts of situations for more realistic fight results and behaviour.

    Sorry you had trouble Catfish but we have many people installed fine with no issues, it IS a very simple installer and we cannot make it any more simple or easier! What you personally experienced is not something we can make better as no one else had Windows 7 freak out as far as we know. Welcome to PC land! As Siggi and OvS suggest PC's do odd things for a million reasons, top of my head; maybe there was a fault (corruption whatever) already on that area on the drive, maybe AV or some other program threw a fit maybe some other component or software didn't like it and so on. Could be a corrupted download or anything. There's a warning on the BUY page that mentions that very fact. Zip is a pretty darn standard file globally used by millions everyday and that has been used by many so it's not that either.

    High res looks stunning, but yes you do not see bullet holes or the tail/wing damage decals but you will see wing tips removed or smashed parts.

    We confirmed AI isn't doing quite what it should (see known issues sticky). Yep higher sliders usually makes AI better (but only if your PC can cope).

    OK checking it's not possible to have both. Not sure how much control a pilot had over fuel loads they would be usually be 100% load in case you get a hole over the front.

    It's not just the new craft Chris, but anyway all I am saying is perhaps people should just play a while then see? I'll leave you guys to it.
