My Turtle Beach Santa Cruz went into at least two of my systems, and is now purring along happily in my girlfriend's business computer. They are great sound cards, and most importantly, no messing with Creative drivers!

  5. In hospital at the mo

Heal well and quickly! A close friend of mine had two separate episodes with a collapsed lung, and could not emphasize enough just how painful it was. My sympathy and best wishes, Allenjb.
  6. Shooting at Ft Hood Texas

I just saw this on my start page, and immediately thought of EricJ. He gets back unscathed from his deployment overseas, and something senseless like this happens.... Pray for his well being, and for those brave souls who were wounded and killed.
  7. This is a delayed response to Stick's original inquiry about fixing the missing AA-3 Anab skins. Probably the best fix is to rename the aa-3r.bmp used in the AA-3RB folder to aa-3.bmp, and rename the aa-3ir.bmp used in the AA-3IRB folder also to aa-3.bmp. Both skins will then appear correctly in game. These two missiles came from 331KillerBee's SF2 Weapon Pack, so I assumed the bmp files were named correctly. Out of curiosity I fired up the hex editor and took a peek at the lod files for the AA-3 missiles in the Community Weapons Pack 2.52, WOE MF Weapons Pack 1-02-08 v2.0, and Bunyap's Weapons Pack 0-06. Every weapons pack available to date has the AA-3 bmp's named incorrectly! So, the short version is just rename your AA-3 bmp's to aa-3.bmp, and you will be good to go!
  8. File Name: Sukhoi Su-15TM Flagon-F v2.02 For SF2 File Submitter: NeverEnough File Submitted: 20 Sep 2009 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Aircraft Sukhoi Su-15TM Flagon-F v2.02 For SF2 by Boopidoo and team ---History--- The Sukhoi Su-15 was developed primarily because of the Soviet Unions great need for a capable high-speed high-altitude interceptor in the 1950's. The Sukhoi design bureu was tasked with the construction of the swept-wing S-1 tactical fighter and the delta-winged T-3 interceptor. The Su-1 'Fitter' which first flew in 1955 later developed into the Su-7 which in turn developed into the very successful Su-17,20,22 variable wing geometry attack aircrafts. The T-3 on the other hand developed into the Su-7 'Fishpot'. Unfortunately the Su-9 lacked performance in both operational range as well as radar range. This led to the development of the Su-15 'Flagon', not counting the half-failure of Su-11 (a bigger version of the Su-9). The Su-15 after lots of prototypes first flew operationally in 1965. During it's operational time it guarded the Soviet Unions borders right up until the desintegration of the USSR. Production of the T-model began in 1971 and that later became TM with the modernised Taifun-M radar. The Su-15 had at this point evolved with extended wings to lower the high approroach speed and a spherical nosecone to make room for the bigger radar. The TM also had smaller inner weapon pylons under the wings to carry R-60 (AA-8 APHID) missiles, this was done to satisfy the need of a dogfighting capability. To further increase it's overall capability the under fuselage pylons were upgraded to being able to carry gunpods, attack rockets, rocket pods and bombs up to 500kg. Since only the gunpods has been used and has a functional fire-control system the other loadouts options must be seen as theoretical, although the carrying capability's still there. ---Install guide--- Simply extract the contents of the Su-15TM folder into your Mods\StrikeFighters2 folder. Chaff and flares have been added so you can spend more time flying, and less time dying! ---Made by--- Aircraft LODs Boopidoo Aircraft textures Volksjaeger & Boopidoo Aircraft decals Volksjaeger & Boopidoo Cockpit LODS Boopidoo Cockpit textures Boopidoo & Badger the Bad su15tm_data.ini kreelin, MoonJumper & Boopidoo su15_avionics.ini Boopidoo su15_loadout.ini Boopidoo su15tm_cockpit.ini Boopidoo SU15_ABEmitter.ini kreelin & bpao SU15ab.tga kreelin & bpao (originally F14ab.tga by Deuces) Su15Engine.wav kreelin MiGLock & MiGTrack.wav Fubar512 (from Magos MiG-21 cockpit) Zvezda K-36D Ejection Seat by AleDucat Red Pilot by The Trooper Hangar Screen by Epizikl SF2 Updates and Loading Screen by NeverEnough ---Special thanks to--- Invaluable testing by MoonJumper and kreelin which inspired me to improve the model way beyond my initial goals. 11. I found this problem when I converted the Mirage 2000-5 for use in SF2. The Ymac value for the Right Wing in the data.ini file for these models was originally Ymac=-0.90, and it should be Ymac=0.90 instead. The negative Ymac value on the right wing caused the plane to flop to one side when pulling over the top. Correcting it to the Ymac=0.90 eliminated the problem. Take a look at the Mirage2000-5_Data.ini in the Mirage 2000-5_SF2 download package for where the changes should be located.

Shift 0 will open and close the canopy. Position and Tail Lights have been added, and the Position Lights move with the wing sweep. The FM was tweaked to correct a tendency for the aircraft to flop to one side. It turns out the problem was caused by a negative Ymac value (Ymac = Mean Area Chord in Y axis) for the Right Wing and Right Stab. Correcting those two values to a positive value completely eliminated the flopping problem, and significantly improved the feeling of the flight model. This bird flies really nicely, and is a real joy to throw around the sky. Amokfloo did a very nice job with the original FM, model, and skin. Gepard's Su-20 Egypt Desert Camo skin was altered to use Soviet decals, and would look right at home over an Afghan install. The weapon stations and Loadout.ini have been adjusted to reflect the capabilities of the Su-17M Fitter-C version of this distinguished warbird. The RWR is audio only. This is a very nice model by Amokfloo, and a "must have" addition for any Red Air enthusiast. Click here to download this file
  14. Start Year is 1973 for the KH-28. Are you selecting the mission date for 1973 or later? In all my testing, it worked like a champ.
  15. Use the KH-28 Pylon whenever you load the KH-28 anti-radiation missile; otherwise the missile is just suspended in air without any attachment to the centerline station.

  18. I just went through pulling together this info from the Thirdwire Forums: In the Knowledge Base there is a formula discussed to figure moments of inertia. Inertia (X Direction) Ix= (W/g)*(Rx*b/2)^2 Inertia (Y Direction) Iy= (W/g)*(Ry*d/2)^2 Inertia (Z Direction) Iz= (W/g)*(Rz*e/2)^2 where g=32.2 (gravity acceleration) W=gross takeoff weight (lb) b=span (ft) d=length (ft) e=(b+d)/2 and Rx, Ry and Rz are chosen from the following table for the aircraft type. * = Multiplication ^ = Power of / = Division Aircraft Type ROLL Rx PITCH Ry YAW Rz Jet Fighter .266 .346 .400 EmptyMass= Mass of the aircraft in kgs EmptyInertia= Inertia of the aircraft in the Y (left/right), X (Fore/aft) and Z (up/down) directions (see below for calculations) ReferenceArea= Wing area in sq. metres ReferenceSpan= Wing span in metres All our numbers are in SI unit, so you'll need to convert from lb to kg, ft to meters, etc. Empty weight is empty weight, ie, weight of aircraft itself, not the gross weight. Generally, gross weight means aircraft at take-off - with fuel, ammo, weapons, pilots, oil, and any other equipments. etc. You need to specify the empty weight in data file, since the game will add all those extra weights of consumables on top of it at run time. The formula for moments of inertia is "correct", but you need to understand that the values of Rx, Ry, Rz you have are based on statistical figures. In reality, every aircraft will have different Rx, Ry, Rz. But since they are difficult to obtain at aircraft design stage, people use "average" of past aircraft to estimate what they would be. So unless your aircraft matches mass distribution of "average jet fighters" that they used to obtain your set of values, it will not give you exact values. The set of Rx,Ry,Rz values I used are different from what you have, for example, they are from different book which sampled different set of past aircraft... If you're looking to put exact moment-of-inertia values for aircraft, you generally want to skip Rx,y,z and get Ix,y,z directly instead. These data can be difficult to come by, but they are sometimes published in reports and books with other aerodynamic coefficients. You can try NACA report server, or look though some aero design books (which might have tables of some historical airplane data), etc. Generally you won't get empty Ix,Iy,Iz, so you'll need to find the weight they were measured at, and scale them down to empty weight. Having said that, .266 .346 .400 should give you good estimate for F-86 (F-86 being fairly "average" jet fighter in its configuration). The only thing I'd double check, make sure the axis are in the right order. Our game's x-axis is left-right, y-axis nose-tail, so EmptyInertia= should list I-pitch, I-roll, I-yaw, in that in the order. You should generally end up with the smallest moment inertia in the second value (roll). TK

File Name: Mirage 2000-5 BETA for SF2 File Submitter: NeverEnough File Submitted: 09 Sep 2009 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Aircraft Mirage 2000-5 BETA For SF2 This is a Mod of Erwin_hans Taiwanese Mirage 2000-5. Credits: -------------------------------------------------- 3D Model by aleks Original Flight Model by IAFmars and YEYEYE and Erwin_hans French Skin by ADM17 Grecia, Siguena and Tigermeet Skins by TORNO JAS-39C Gripen Cockpit by Gux Avionics by Moonjumper and Jat Martin Baker Mk10 Ejection Seat by AleDucat SF2 updates, FM, Hangar and Loading Screens by NeverEnough Installation: -------------------------------------------------- Simply extract the contents of the Mirage 2000-5 folder into your Mods\StrikeFighters2 folder. Shift 1 will open and close the canopy. This model uses the Gux's JAS-39C Gripen cockpit and avionics. The cross bar in the Gripen canopy has beem removed to provide a fully transparent canopy. Every effort has been made remove as much of the Beta aspect as possible, but some small issues still remain. The weapon positions on the pylons have been adjusted, the weapon stations have been tweaked to avoid model overlaps, and the weapon loadout has been changed to more closely reflect French and Greek Mirage 2000-E weapons capabilities. The lighting positions and wheel rolling radius have been corrected. The leading edge slats are functional, and the flight model has been tweaked pretty extensively. A new Hangar Screen, Loading Screen and Loadout image are included. TORNO's skins make this a very sexy beast. The FM is pretty sporty, and the plane flies and fights nicely. The real Mirage 2000-5 is a very competent multi-purpose fighter bomber, and this model does a pretty good job reflecting that heritage. Take a look at the Mirage 2000 History.txt file for more detail on the Mirage 2000. Enjoy, and good flying. Click here to download this file

  22. Hey Julhelm, I'm running the sim on a Nvidia 8800GT video card using the 186.18 WHQL drivers. I have had no problems viewing the external model ingame for the Demon or the Cougar, but I am not running HDR mod. It seems strange that both models are crashing your system since the Demon was a Foxmonter model and the Cougar was a Pasko model. Let me know if I can be of any help diagnosing the issue.
  23. PcPilot, I use FoxMonter's Pulqui cockpit in the La-15 Fantail. You could compare the cockpit jpg's he included in the download file to Lindr2's cockpit drawings. I just found a download from 4-8-09 titled La_15_Fantail, that includes TANK605 LA15 Drop Tank using the Meteor Tank bmp. If you can't find the download file, I could send it to you.
