Here's the straight skinny from those in the know, with definitive info from T.K.: Tracer Mods Hi, in SFP there are 3 different Tracer.tga´s in the ObjectData.cat file. Tracer1= red, Tracer2=green and Tracer3 is yellow. The tracer.tga file which is used by your gun, can easily be changed with the gun editor. The M61A1 uses e.g. Tracer1, whereas 23mmGSH23 cannon makes use of the Tracer2.tga file. Has anyone modded and upload or can anyone tell me how to please mod the neon red bullets effects in WOV, it just looks awful and is totally out of place in this otherwise very immersive sim. You need to create a TGA file to your liking (color-wise), name it "Tracer2.TGA", and place it in your objects folder. I use Paint Shop Pro (PSP) for modding and creating TGA files. It also has the ability to save bitmaps, or jpegs, as TGA files. I've just discovered that "Irfanview" (a free download at tucows.com) will open TGA files, and allow you to save them as bitmaps. You then mod the bitmap in MS paint, save it, open the modded bitmap in Irfanview, then save it again as a TGA and you're good to go! The gun data file needs to be saved out as .dat file. You can change the rate of fire in there, as well as the bullet texture and size. ParticleSystem.ini has the data for the smoke trail. It should go into Flight folder, and you don't need to change any other files for it. Thanks TK, The only thing I have not found is what controls the rate of the tracers ? In other words, how often a tracer is placed in the bullit line up. I believe the tracer loading in the model data ini controls it [ForwardGun] SystemType=FLEXIBLE_GUN GunTypeName=303CAL_LEWIS_MK2 MuzzlePosition=0.0000,3.0489,0.0296 MaxAmmo=97 TracerLoading=5 <- I think it is one tracer every 5 bullets in this statement. BurstAmount=10 NumReloads=7 ReloadTime=6.0 I just checked through the code, TracerLoading isn't being read for Fixed Forward gun, its only used for Flexible Gun and AAA. For now, guns firing forward has tracer loading at default of one in every 6 rounds. TracerSize sets the basic size of the textures. TracerDistFactor is the modifier for size (set above) for distance. Without this, we find that tracer texture would be less than 1 pixel and disppear completely too soon. So this increases the tracer size as it gets further away from camera. So if you want tracer to be visible further away, but you don't want it to look like a giant basketball-sized texture up close, you want to try adjusting the TracerDistFactor. Max Streak Visible Dist sets the maximum distance (from camera) to which the "streak" (that "tail" part of the tracer graphics), is rendered. And it may also affect the long distance visibility from different angles. TK

Some A-6 questions
NeverEnough replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Kudos to you, Allenjb42, for your modding efforts. I'll bet that if you post the up-dated A-6's, they'll most certainly be downloaded! I don't know if I'll ever load up a nuke (but if you got em, smoke em!), but on lots of occasions I sure would have appreciated having a Sidewinder or a gun to fend off the predators. I know the gun is not an issue, but if they really did or could carry Sidewinders, what the hell. Most importantly, this is about a GAME not a documentary. -
I'll vote Yes! It would be great to get some of Bort's work back on CombatAce.

Ditto what HrntFxr said! Remember the "How is this done", "How is this done", "How is this done"; that turned into "Buy this", "Buy this", "Buy this"! This community freely gives of itself; unfortunately there will always be those that freely take for themselves. -
Buny's Weapon Pack database is back online.

Welcome back Bunyap, and I think most people have developed a much greater appreciation for your site! Absence makes the heart grow fonder. -

NeverEnough replied to charlielima's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'd like to second that with Two Big Thumbs Up! It has a beautiful cockpit, and is an absolute kick in the head to take on strike missions. Great addition to the growing list of distinguished aircraft available. -
What is it?
NeverEnough replied to Flamer50's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It includes some planes which were never available anywhere else (F-18 Blue Angel and C-130 AWACS). It will give you a pretty fully modded install with sounds, effects, menu screens, etc. The intro scene is in french, but a very nice change from the stock SFP1. The most current F-18 cockpit and avionics available is included in the F-18BA folder, and it also includes the F-100FR with some very nice skins. The package is well worth the time to download! I always take a peek at CheckSix to catch some very nice skins which aren't always available elsewhere, plus I'm developing new language skills while I'm at it. -

Another Kesselbrut cockpit for the Vigilante would be REALLY nice! Please, throw some crumbs to the unwashed masses... -
New FM for Mirage F1?
NeverEnough replied to 76.IAP-Blackbird's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
It's great to hear the Mirage Factory is working on a new Mirage F1. I really love the lines on the F1, and adding the Kfir cockpit kicks it up a notch. Thanks for the trouble-shooting on the FM fixes! -
PolaksPRDesert2.zip
NeverEnough replied to Polak's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
The biggest problem I've had with this terrain mod is that I spend most of my flight time looking around at the beautiful scenery, instead of looking for targets or bad guys! The water effect is dazzling, too. Thanks again, Polak. -
First Eagles Flanders Terrain Released
NeverEnough replied to Edward's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Wow, this is a huge addition to FE! Thanks Edward for all your beautiful work. -
Looking at the detailed models of these period aircraft, the guys that flew them must have had balls the size of coconuts or just flat didn't know any better!

Bunyap Site
NeverEnough replied to Misty FAC's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If it will be of assistance, I have 29 of the loadout updates saved in one big folder. I'd be happy to email the whole folder to the designated project leader. I just tried to upload the files in the new Knowledge Base thread, and it indicated I was not authorized. -

SFP1 WWII Question
NeverEnough replied to Atreides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have a completly un-modified SFP1 folder with the latest patches that I use for a basis for all my Strike Fighters installs, which I rename "Latest Patched SFP1". To add another Strike Fighters WW2 version, I think I right-click and then click on "Make copy of", which will add another folder which is named by default "Copy of Latest Patched SFP1". I then rename that folder to "Strike Fighters Project 1-WW2". Then add the WW2 planes available here and at Capun's site to the Objects folder. Add the WW2 Ground Objects available here to the Ground Objects folder in your Objects folder. The WW2 terrains for Battle of Britain, Tunisia, Malta and New Guinea are all available here, plus several older terrains and campaigns. You can setup separate installs for the European, Mediterrian and Pacific Theaters to avoid having FW-190's in the Pacific and Zero's in the Med. One of the biggest losses to the WW2 fans was when Wolf 257 withdrew his terrific plane models, which hopefully he will bring back for those of us that appreciate and miss his great contributions! -
Desert Storm & general terrain ?
NeverEnough replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hey Wrench: Hope the interview went well! Thanks for all the great new material you've been churning out during your "employment challenged" time. Best of luck with your job search. -

Hi-res Winter Terrain for First Eagles
NeverEnough replied to max188's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
WinRar reported it as a corrupted file when I downloaded it yesterday afternoon. Hopefully, the file has been re-uploaded since then. It looks like a really nice additon to FE! -
SF/WoE video: Blue Water Ops
NeverEnough replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
For those curious types looking for the "Atmosphere V4" mod, it is available in the Utility section on page three on Checksix-fr. I just found it, and it was done by Sony Tuckson. -
Aircraft issues
NeverEnough replied to Sgt.KAR98's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You will have to use the SPF1E Extract Utility to extract the individual terrain files from the VietnamSEA cat file. In your terrain folder, unless you have already extracted files from the VietnamSEA cat file, the VietnamSEA cat file will be all that you see. The extract utility is available here at CombatAce, and the Knowledge Base will tell you everything you need to know. -
Aircraft issues
NeverEnough replied to Sgt.KAR98's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The Weapons Pack uses the Russian designation for the air-to-air missiles, and the stock game uses the NATO designation for the russian missiles. You have to edit the loadout.ini files on each of the Russian planes to change the missile loadouts to match the russian designations used in the Weapons Pack. The Data.ini files on each of the Russian planes has to have the Attachment Type=WP changed to Attachment Type=SOVIET to be able to load the missiles on the plane. It's not really as bad as it sounds. The correct ini files for the Weapons Pack are available at Bunyap's Weapons Pack Aircraft Database. -
Parani Mig-19S
NeverEnough replied to whiteknight06604's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
The MiG-19S is a stock plane with the Thirdwire flight sims. You just have to add a cockpit to make it flyable. The MiG cockpits are available for download here at CombatAce.
