  1. For those of you who feel that "everybobody's bugging out", take a look at the really amazing mods released over the last couple weeks and available in the downloads section right here! Terrains, cockpits, campaigns, makeovers of older classic models (Russouk's beautiful P-47N!), Fast Cargo's lovely Arrow, and more! These mods are not amateurish efforts, but real quality professional level additions to the StrikeFighters world. The level of quality in the mods being released recently is as good as it has ever been, and that trend appears to promise even better things for the future. This is why the Thirdwire sims have held so many of our attention spans far longer than we reasonably expected. TK's "lite sim" has provided many extremely talented individuals with a blank canvas to make some truly amazing contributions.
  2. 2011 Reno Air Race Crash Findings

Does anyone else find this statement verging on insanity? His age and physical condition weren't considered significant factors in the crash, but Hersman was critical of Leeward's record-keeping and reports of the modifications that he had made. "He put that he was 59 years old on the entry form," the board chairwoman said. "He was 74." In Formula 1 auto racing, you are considered washed up after about age 35. The physical and mental demands of flying 530 mph at tree top level would certainly seem to be far greater than the g-loads experienced by a Formula 1 driver.
  3. Nvidia put the 306.02 BETA video drivers up for download this morning. They are available at this link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us The WHQL version they released last week were only for the new 660 video card. The 306.02 BETA will work for all recent Nvidia video cards.
  4. Change this line in the HUDDATA.INI to FALSE: [Debug] DisplayDebug=TRUE It is located in the FLIGHT Folder.
  5. The seat line Wrench provided: SeatModelName=seat_f-104 should be inserted in the F-104S_DATA.INI under the Pilot section. [Pilot] SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT Position=0.00,6.68,0.56 SeatModelName=seat_f-104 SeatPosition=0.00,6.65,0.13 MinExtentPosition=-0.25, 6.06,-0.14 MaxExtentPosition= 0.25, 7.19, 0.82 CanopyNodeName=canopy_mid_outer CanopyAnimationID=5
  6. Staight from the Readme File: Installation: First, backup these files, if present in you Flight folder: ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI LENSFLARE_DIAMOND.TGA LENSFLARE_STAR.tga STAR.tga STR_CLOUDS.tga STR_CLOUDS2.tga STR_CLOUDS3.tga SUN.TGA To install extract this package to your main mods folder, if asked overwrite. These all go in the Flight Folder in your Mods folder for each installed game: i.e. StikeFighters2: StrikeFighter2 Europe: StrikeFighters2 Vietnam: StrikeFighters2 Israel.
  7. SSD prices have fallen off a cliff lately. BH Photo had a Sandisk Extreme 240G SATAIII drive today for $159.99! This is a very reliable and incredibly fast SSD. This drive would make the Velociraptor mechanical drive look like a paperweight in comparison. Despite the huge performance advantage current generation SSD's have, they are not supposed to improve gaming performance to the degree one would expect.
  8. Another big plus on the TW 5D and 5F, is that Ludo just posted his hi res skin templates in the download section!
  9. Hey fellow WWI flight fans, T.K. has a 4th of July sale on now which includes First Eagles 2 for only $9.99. For those of you still using FE1, this would certainly appear to be a solid buy signal.....
  10. Been Out

Best wishes, and I hope your father has a full and rapid recovery!
  11. Hey Ludo: I have found only Martin Baker Mk3 and Mk5 ejection seats for either SFP1 or SF2. What ini help do you need assistance with, as I may be able to help. If you skin it, it will be beautiful!
  12. This is the readme from Thirdwire's Download Page for WOV: ============================= Wings Over Vietnam / Oct 2008 Readme File ============================= ----------------- Table of Contents ----------------- 1. Update Notes 2. Troubleshooting 3. Contacting Customer Support --------------- 1. Update Notes --------------- This Update contains all the fixes from previous patches, and it can be applied to any version of the game. Earlier patches do not need to be applied. This Update also raises the mimimum system requirement for the game to the following: OS: Windows 2000/XP Processor: 1.0 GHz Memory: 1.0 GB RAM Hard Drive: 1.2 GB free space Video Card: 128 MB DirectX 9.0c After installing this Update, the game may require newer version of DirectX to run correctly. Please visit the Microsoft website at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3 to download and install the latest version of DirectX. We highly recommend you install this update over a clean install of the game - uninstall the game first, manually delete the folder to remove any mods not uninstalled, reinstall the game from original CD, then apply the Update.
  13. In my installs the wing tanks are all in the Weapons folder, and they work just fine!
  14. @ Fubar reg Su-24

Hey Jimbib, best of luck on your final exams!
  15. Just so you all know....

When I saw all the files Geo was uploading, I also had an uncomfortable feeling he was closing his site. Thanks Geo for all the really great additions you have made to the SF community over the years. You have been especially generous to those in the community that have a preference for propellers! Hopefully you will continue to stay in contact with the community, and best wishes for the future.
  16. Eburger's Swing Wing Fitters pack. It was released July, 2011. I just checked the downloads section.
  17. Last Minute Reprieve

    Life is good.....
  18. Last Minute Reprieve

He's a cutie. How could you not fall in love with that face?
  19. 10 Years with Combat Ace

Thanks for being here. You have been an oasis through good times and bad; a welcome timeout from the pressures of RL. I've never met any of you face to face, and yet I feel I've known many of you for the longest time. This site is a virtual community which has transended the virtual aspect! Thank you
  20. Problem with Jan tuma's terrain

Try the JTm_tiles_alternative_Solid_objects_alpha terrain data.ini's. The file is located in the download section. I had the same terrain flashing running Windows 7 64 bit and an Nvidia GTX470 video card, and this did trick. Here's the link to the file: http://combatace.com/files/file/10563-alternatice-solid-objects-setting-for-fe-tiles-by-jan-tuma/
  21. This looks like another alluring model from the studios of Monty CZ!!! Thanks in advance for another impressive piece of work.
  22. Today is my First Anniversary!

In just a year's time, you have made a HUGE contribution to the FE/FE2 community! Thanks again for all your efforts.
  23. Nvidia 301.24 Beta Drivers Available Now

For those Nvidia video card owners that do the beta thing, the 301.24 Beta Drivers are available here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
  24. Nvidia 301.24 Beta Drivers Available Now

What drivers are the best for the GTX460M? Hey Storm, just to be on the safe side you might want to stick with the 296.10 WHQL Drivers which were released on March 13th. I've been using these with SF2NA since it was released, and have had no problems with my GTX470. I'll install the 301.24 Beta Drivers, and see if there are any bugs with the April 2010 patch level SF2 sims.
