Seems reasonnable enough.

I want to try that game, but I am afraid it is too complex. Or more precisely, I am afraid I have less time and patience for such wargames. Is the learning curve quite hard, Dave?

I had several time such an odyssey. I remember a falklands campaign when I got badly hit in a Harrier, brought the bird home only to have been declared dead by the log for like 25 minutes. -

Ah, I saw a docu-fiction a few months ago about this bombing raid. Can't find it either. Yeah, there was the "balls of steel" mission when a flight of Amiot-143 attacked in broad daylight the bridges at Sedan... -

"Operation Desert Storm" for SF2 (Redux) - Part 1 of 3
Emp_Palpatine replied to eburger68's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Sure, I've seen them fighting with me. :) I might be wrong, though, but I think I recall they were flyable with ODS for GEN1. Well, that was like 5 years ago. And my computer back then was ballsy enough to run the mod. So it's quite blurry. -

Great work as usual. Found a... well... glitch? When playing Red side, the map icon for blue side/ red side are reversed. i.e. friendly iraqi bases are using U.S. flags. By the way, it isn't possible to play Koweiti air force or RSAF anymore? -

Lightwip date back to the 1980's crappy comics, before the 1990's maturity of the EU. -

Nope. Well, in the E.U, the war lasted for two more decades (somewhat). We are talking about a galaxy-wide conflict... The Empire did fragment into warlordism after Endor, allowing the Rebellion, now the New Republic, to slowly become the major galactic government. The Empire did had its moments, notably with Thrawn who united the Empire again and unleashed a successful war against the New Republic. It was somewhat 5-10 years after Endor. After that, well, warlordism until Paellon, late Thrawn X.O. managed to unite once again the Empire and signed a peace treaty with the New Republic, allowing both (the Empire is much reduced to a regional power by then, though, whereas the Republic is again the hegemon with its Jedi Order) to coexist. After that, piles of crap happenned in the E.U and I personnally stopped reading books. Note that this is the former canon. None knows what Abrams is going to do with his own Star Wars universe. -

Nope. That's the whole EU, save Clone Wars and Rebels, that has been thrown away. Even very instutionnalized things like Shadows of the Empire are gone. I won't shed a tear for all the post-war pile of crap like the Vongs and afterward, actually. -

Sure, good points. Let's also say I am quite a pessimistic guy, so I quite expect the worse. Regarding old things, I do of course concurr. But it's true when you go all the way round : new isn't always better. A lot of friends and dudes just say : hey, it's modern so it's cool. It's 2014, damit, when need new effects. I strongly disagree. A cultural production comes from a certain era with its fashion, its effects, its beliefs and so on. That's the first thing. Second one is current cultural and production trends. Let's have a look to new Star Trek : who the frak is this new Kirk? Since when is Kirk a brat who deserves only to have his face slapped? Since when is Kirk in is early twenties with his pimples barely gone? Kirk is a charismatic captain in his mid thirties. Since when is Spock a sissy banging Uhura? Does JJ Abrams even know what a Vulcan is ? But todays heroes have to be young, brats and (badly) witted and have a lot of emotions. As franchises go, I have already said that I frankly think that they should be allowed to die. Do we need to have Star Trek or Star Wars for like a century? Things end! And they then leave some space for new ones. Can someone name a new franchise in the last 15 years or so? Reboots. Reboots everywhere. Or sequels, and sequels, and sequels and prequels. Making movies, making art, is more than just telling the same story in a different way or just do "hey, let's start spiderman all over again for the second time in 15 years". So Star Trek was dying? Let it die! It was and still is awesome! Something does not need to have a movie every two years to be a legend. When you are rebooting or making forced sequels, you have to be "innovative" or trying to be. Heck, you have to attract teens. Hence bratty Kirk, lence flares, riped and raped plots (Star Trek into Darkness was a bad and incoherent "Wrath of Khan") or triple bladed lightrapiere and toyish droids. I concurr with the overall progress in special effect, and I will love the X-Wings scenes, like I liked when the Enterprise fought foes in the reboot movies. But acting... Characters... plots... They matter. -

I am way more sceptic because of known facts (some of them are of course my opinion): - what happened to Star Trek; - frakking Disney; - J.J "let's flare all things" Abrams; - Current cinema tendencies since the 2000's. It would be hard for the new SW not to sucks. I admit there is a few cool things in the trailer, like the X-Wings and the Troopers in the transport. The rest is like meh. And the triple bladed lightsaber is just a no-go. And as a joke : -

Oh, yeah. So one can't have an opinion, eh? Let's see who's gonna have the last laugh when in the too-much-flared Star Wars the new lightrapière armed (what's next? lightaxes? Lightforks?) sith turned out to be Jar Jar binks. -

Lucas or not, they're going to rape Star Wars. Period. -
Unfortunately, anti-virus aren't always able to detect some threats. I strongly advise you to go to some helpers board (there are a LOT on the net) and ask for help. An "hijack this" log will probably see what your anti-virus did not. I am affraid you problem is far more than some messy update. When I had it, it was just a matter of minutes : some apps won't work or gave an error message. Just go into task manager and kill the update. Yours is... worse. I strongly advise, too, NOT TO RESTORE until you know what's going on. Malwares use to hide in the restore system, just to be sure to reinfect again. Or they just kill that too. So, in my opinion : Save what can be saved; Go to some helpers board and ask for help. They will ask you hijack this logs and stuffs, and if it's a curable thing, give you the "how to". You may indeed have to reinstall your whole system to solve the issue in the end, nevertheless...
