  1. Looking nice, good use of the new amazing skins. What about the bad guys?
  2. Guys, I've been wondering... Once one side does use all-aspect IR missiles, the skies are a true slaughterhouse. When used by the player, it is not rare to score 100% kills with the whole loadout. And one just goes to uber-ace status in a few missions, with incredible numbers of kills. My point is: when reading combat stories on ACIG.org and stuff, one does not see that much accuracy: missiles do missfire and so on. Of course, in order to counter frustration, the game is easier than real life. As is the A.I. not that smart. Still, going back to base with 8 kills seems... overkill. Don't you think? I know these missiles are quite deadly, but aren't they more fragile than their in game description, i.e. more prone to failure?
  3. By the way, that map could be great for another what if: Algeria vs Morocco+some western nations... :)
  4. Great what if! But don't include Algeria, they hate Morocco and wouldn't have meddled.
  5. Now that's a strange sight!
  6. I remember these. Would like to see the battle flag on something with a jet engine, though. :)
  7. Sweet! I've never thought of such what if. I would like to see a C.S.A skin, by the way. :)
  8. dammit

Gods, that sucks. Hope you and your family will prevail.
  9. Tomorrow is a big day

Good luck, stay strong and have faith !
  10. Intersting idea, that makes indeed Israeli aircraft much more credible. My own propositions were not for your mod per-se. By the way, you should change the pilots and places names for Dhimar to make them more european.
  11. My propositions: 1980's mod: - Like most states in the Gulf area, Dhimar and Paran were somewhat artificial constructions. Dhimari tribes were nominaly vassal under the Parani Sultan in Kurzah. The whole area was under British protectorate. - Upon discovery of massive oil reserves, Britain did create a Dhimari Kingdom (koweit, anyone?) under the most powerful local family. - Early 1960's: independence of both states. Dhimar is a customer of British & French planes. Paran buys British and/or U.S planes (Libyan Kingdom F-5 in mind, or Kuwaities lightnings) - Late 1960's/early 1970's: Paran old monarchy is overthrown by a military coup. The somewhat forgotten country starts to use its small, compared to Dhimar's, oil and gas income for military and political influence. Paran starts to involve itself with radical groups elsewhere and becomes a friend of communist South Yemen. In the mid 1970, France sells directly and through proxies some mirages. Dhimar starts to buy from the U.S. - Late 1970: Paran increasing radicalism leads to an end to the French connection. Paran finds now friends in Moscow. - Early 1980: Paran's head-colonel launchs the second step of "Paran's revolution", mixing socialism, nationalism and religion. Paran increases it's support for radical terrorism in the world especially in Dhimar. Territorial claims are extended... then the whole "imperialist-created kingdom" is claimed by Paran. (France is back? Mirage 2000?) - 1984 : Border clashes esclate to full war. Dhimar: - Jaguar? Better IMHO than A-4/Kfir. - F-14 (I like the idea) (heavy interceptor) - older planes: Mirage III-e? 5? Lightnings? - Mirage 2000 (Light interceptor) ?/F-16? - F-4 are also a possibility. Paran: Mirage F1 Mirage 5 Mig 21 MiG 23 MiG 25 Su-x Tu-x? an handfull of old F-5 or Lightning/Hunter? Possible foreign involvment: Dhimar: U.S./ French - British, Saudian, Paran: South Yemen, Syria, Algeria, Libya
  12. I do indeed believe that an early 1980's scenario is an optimal one, in terms of political realism. But: Kfir is Israeli. NO WAY any arab country would buy something from them. Better switch to some other delta. Perhaps Mirage V too, or III-E bought in the sixties. If one wants to be inspired by Libyan situation, F-5 could be used as a former Paran plane, before the radical coup. Or perhaps Lightnings. One could perhaps have a look into North Yemeni or Saudi/Omani battle orders of the 1960-1970. I am nonetheless affraid that this setup is heavily unbalanced in favor of Dhimar: F-14s will tear appart Paran. I would also say: Fishbeds! I love fishbeds...
  13. Indeed, but the parani red-star sounds for me so much soviet/commie that it means: pro-soviet country. Iraq, well, was a "non-aligned" country that bought weapons from everybody... and everybody wanted to sell some, hoping to be the new protector. Libya... it was back in the early 70's, before Qaddafi went to radical. He then became a direct ennemy, see Opération Epervier in Chad. Hence my scenario proposal: some sort of radical coup in Paran in the late 1960's, then a radicalization or the choice of Soviet alliance in the late 1970's. Therefore some french planes, but not too realistic ones, would be realistic along with soviet ones. What would be great is too have both side flyable : your F1 is so lovely!
  14. Well, I've always seen Paran as a sort of South Yemen, that is a revolutionnary, if not socialist, country. They do have a fraking red star as an insigna! They seem like, well, South Yemen. Or Libya when Qaddafi decided to be the new Nasser in 1977 and started bombing stuff and invading his neighbours. So, in such a setup, I am not at ease with the idea of French planes into Parani inventory: France never sold arms to pro-soviet countries. I do think that french planes would be better into the Dhimari order of Battle. Just check out the number of "neutral" or pro-western Arab countries that did buy stuff from France. Like every little gulf State, Morocco, Lebanon and so on. Or: - One can think about a non continuous timeline. That is each desert war would be in it's own timeline, following a radical takeover of Paran (à la Libyan 1969 coup). - Perhaps Paran could change roundel and personnality to show somewhere in the seventies the fall of a former neutral regime (à la Baathist Iraq) that could very well have been a French customer into a radical pro-soviet one. By the way: fictionnal desert map seems inspired by the Gulf Area, like, perhaps, Oman Sultanat. This place was a British sphere of influence. I would say we need a lot more British planes in the earlier decades. I would love a paran-dhimar improvement mod, with nice skins and smart order of battle.
  15. This is a really lovely thud! Amazing!
  16. SF2 : NA worth it?

(Weeeell, thanks for your input guys. As I'm a navies (whoever they are) lover and very much like naval action, I guess it's a buy! And by the way, it has been ages since I bought a TK game and they have been entertaining me for a decade now. Time to do my part again!)
  17. A What-if French Navy Hornet, that was supposed to replace the Crusader in the 1980's and 1990's until Rafales went online. That is if we had had intelligent politicians. (And I still dream of a Mirage 4000)
  18. SF2 : NA worth it?

RAM hungry, then? I've got quite a good computer, but you are making me wondering! I've seen this extension, indeed. Looks interesting! (Même si la Royale n'est présente qu'en 1975). How is the game with older ones and other third party add-ons? I do have a merged install because I bought a TK's package with all SF2 games included back in 2008 or 2009. I am affraid your memories issues might... contaminate other games.
