NF3 Countdown
Emp_Palpatine replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sure we are! I can't stop thinking at work: will I first start a campaign in Javelin? SMB2? Gina? F101? Can't choose! -

Hey, great idea for a mod! Rhodesians never die! -
Iran Iraq Campaign
Emp_Palpatine replied to MK2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Both. But beware, it's quite old and not compatible with latest patches. -
I finally succombed to temptation and bought FE gold, the one pack with the included add-on, all nov2008 patched. I wanted some WW1 and to support TK once again. For the moment: just as good as other TK's games! It's a pleasure to fly in my home province (Cambrai is 20 minutes by car from my birthplace and homeland -even if I'm an unvolontary exiled in Paris), shooting down those german invaders! Well... Here come the questions: Is there some absolutely needed mod, à la CA_Stary trees or Sky mod or Nato Fighters? Is there some nov2008 patch compatible infantry mod? (straffing attacking germans was soooo great in Red Baron II) I've seen two of them, but which one do you prefer? And are they nov2008 compatibles? Will they show up in campaigns? Thanks a lot guys!

"All your Budwisens belong to us?" More seriously, this one is just splendid: "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." So is this one, upon winning against Rommel: "Rommel, you magnificent bastard! I read your book!"

How do you manage your squadron?
Emp_Palpatine replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
For reccon missions, I fly alone. Others, it depends. I prefer two ships for strike/CAS missions, as the second element always wanders doing nothing; but in case of heavy -or anticipated- ennemy air activity, 2 elements: Wingy and I flying A2G and second element as an escort. I rarely use more than two elements, but thinking about it, it's quite true that it increase friendly's survavibility. Sadly, I'm usually a widow maker as a flight leader. I usually lost wingies in more than 50% of my missions. I always try to minimize their losses, but the AI being what it is... -
wow... Made every WW1 fan like my self have wet dreams!

I'm seriously wondering guys. It has been years since a new license, a new wide public flight sim was released. I don't have a fancy PC nor the bank account allowing the two-years upgrade rythm of the late 90's early 2000's but still... In those days, there were a lot of new sims very often: JSF, Red Baron II, Flankers, EF 2000, Jane's stuff, Mig Alley. Apart from Lock On and TK's add-ons (or new games of the license), I just can't think about any worthwile military flight sim in the past couple of years. I could be misinformed, but it's quite sad, and I'm wondering about the future of our common hobby.

They are a placeholder for Koweit City's famous Water towers. At least, it's my guess. -
Are flight sims going out of style?
Emp_Palpatine replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Yup, a friend of mine working in PC game industry told me about the lost battle between PC games and consoles ones. Wargames are in better shape still, thanks to Matrix (despite their expansiveness), HPS, Ageod and a few others. Well, it's still a very tiny market, but there are is the same new titles, if not the most original ones. -

Very good news! Thank you kindly, sir! I was praying for such a mod for a long time, in order to play it with the all-planes all-nations flyable mod. -

Blowing ships with guns
Emp_Palpatine posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Guys, we sure all have memories from WW2 documentaries or thing like that of ships being straffed by war planes and subsequantly blewing up. As straffing is one of my favorite sport, I've tried it a few times on ships without results. Does TK games make the gun-sinking of ships possible? Did one of you managed it once? -

Don't you see all those juicy migs?
Emp_Palpatine posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Starting once again a 6-day war campaign yesterday, while replaying Moked one more time, I ask myself: hey... why t.H. my wingmen do not straff all those nice migs? I've tried ordering them to do so, but just can't select them as target (playing on hard, btw). Do you guys know a way to make the AI straff? Is there a mod/a solution/something? -
Blowing ships with guns
Emp_Palpatine replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
All right chaps, it works indeed. Guess the fact that I last tried with the malvina mod where ships are not really ships influenced me. -

So, gunfire works! All right then, what part of the ship do you aim?
