  1. Thanks for the advice. What is CBI? Since a WW2 install involves getting some a/c from Capun's site (and I cannot find a way to download from them), I think I should start with the PTO perhaps if there is a pack for it here; though I do not know how I would find that. Is FIRST EAGLES a WWI version? Kevin: Your second screenshots of the Saved Games folder is what is called in these posts the Mods folder, riight? And what do the Extracted Files and Utilities folders contain? I suppose those are folders you made yourself that help you make mods. Nick
  2. That may be it. I was thinking of adding you, but you have already befriended me.
  3. You may have noticed the RAF pilot image in my posts. I have made many such gouache portraits and what I can do is work with them in Photoshop, make them brighter and give them an oil-painting look and then use them to make all new in-game screens. Long ago, I had made some. I remember one where I had a group of RAF pilots in shorts sitting by a tent in the Malayan Emergency era, summer clothes, outside, with a couple of the chaps standing, all looking at you and smiling. I can do load-out screens or most other types. I can also use your requests. If, for example, you tell me “I would like a Pilot standing next to a Beaufighter for such-a-type of screen, I can try and do it for you. Endless combinations of composition are possible here—seeing all the theaters of operations. I have made my own screens for CFS2 as well and used them in my installs of that…. Let me know what you would like, or give me suggestions. I can start right away, By the way, the Malayan Emergency RAF operations merit a stand-alone “SF RAF MALAYA” game. It may exist for all I know.. Vampires, Beverleys, S.A. Twin Pioneers, Venoms, Bristol Sycamores, Hunters, Meteors, Douglas Dakotas, Westland Whirlwinds, Avro Lincolns, Mosquitoes, etc.. Nick
  4. Thanks Fubar. You will be the first one added. Muesli; What on earth do you mean with your comment? Nick Fubar I could not find that "add me as a friend" button--I only found REMOVE ME AS A FRIEND. Nick
  5. Thanks, No one tells me which these sites are, so I can at least have a look?
  6. I have 4 versions of the game, SF2, SF Europe, SF Vietnam, SF Israel--all dated Sept 2009. I have made joystick mappings for each one. Where are those mappings saved in the merged install I have of the 4? I would like to save them for possible later installs, if possible, so I do not have to redo the mappings. Let me know if you know the answer please. Nick
  7. Thanks to all. Copying the same file to all 4 installs worked like a charm. Romflyer--I might try your idea when I get more familiar with SF intimacies. Nick
  8. Thanks for your help, Fubar and Wrench. I now think I will copy that file to all 4 installs and save me a lot of trouble. Will tell you if it worked, Nick
  9. Fubar, I know all that and used it to assign some commands to my joystick buttons. I meant to see if there is a folder somewhere (when the game is not runnning) where one can find a text or a cfg file where the key mappings I have set earlier are written out for the game to see and apply to my stick when it started, I looked in the game folder on my drive and I the saved folders in xxx\users\.. and did not find anything. Nick
  10. I finally managed to download 3 patches. They are: 1. sf2_exp1_update-jun2010.zip 2. SF2_update_Mar2012 .zip and 3. SF2_update_Mar2012_Hotfix.zip I am assuming, after the little I have read so far in forum posts and in some download descriptions, that #1 is the SP1 patch, #2 is the SP2 patch, and #3 is a fix to be applied to #2 (and last) after 1 and 2 have been applied--in this order: 1, 2,3. I have a merged install which includes: Strike Fighters 2 Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam Strike Fighters 2 Europe Strike Fighters 2 Israel I have made a backup of the game folder, at my C:\Program Files\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2, and also of my Saved Games folder, which is at : C:\Users\TANIA\Saved Games ad made copies of these 2 folders in another spot of drive C. The main game folder [strike Fighters 2] is 3.32 gb in size and the Saved Games folder is 280 mb. These backups are, to be exact, at my C:\Strike Fighters 2 and at C:\Saved Games. Do I run the updates in the order set out above or what do you advise? Thanks for any help you may be able to give, Nick PS: The attached painting is a Royal Navy WWII light cruiser off the coast of Crete in 1941, before the island fell to the Germans,--a watercolor I painted long ago. Sunlight is a key factor here, as Greek waters are full of it....It may be a destroyer also, now that I am having another closer look --the watercolor has been framed and I know I have pencilled the name of the ship on the back of the watercolor but that has to be unframed if I want to read it--one of the things I must do soon, unframe it, rea the name and note it, and reframe it again...
  11. Think of this too: And show it to the wife or girlfriend.
  12. Thanks for your replies. All of the merged titles below are dated October 2009--lower right-hand corner. Strike Fighters 2 Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam Strike Fighters 2 Europe Strike Fighters 2 Israel So what patch(es) do I run? I had bought the games from a shop downtown in Athens--around that time or a little later. Nick
  13. I would like to wish you all a Merry Xmas with a postcard I made in Photoshop, featuring the USS Intepid Nick Athens, Greece
  14. Thank you ALL for your reciprocal wishes. If you like some handicraft, print the card on normal paper, then cut the hard paper twice the sizef the print and glue it on the front face, fold it and wrtie your wishes inside and send it to your friends. White glue is best. Nick
  15. Hello, This is my first post and I have many questions, so please bear with me…. I have installed the Default SF2, SF Vietnam, SF Europe, and SF Israel in that order--all in the same folder. I also installed on top of those an update: SF2_Israel_update_Mar2010.exe All of the above are in one folder, at C:\Program Files\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2. Questions: 1.Any mistake in the above order or choice of update? 2. In the pdf Readme, I saw a Hunter jet is available. I do not have one and where can I get one? 3. I saw a Javelin is available to download. It says put the files in the Mods folder. Where is that Mods folder? I did not find it… Is there an RAF Lightning jet also anywhere? 4. Long ago, when SF came out and we waited ages for the 1st patch, I had painted a skin for an AI Canberra. Where is the skins folder? 5. Finally, can anyone suggest 10 command mappings for basic Air to Air and Air to Ground mission play? My stick has 11 buttons, one button (trigger) is for the gun, and the other 10 buttons are available to assign commands to. I suppose these will have to include 2 or 3 radar target acquisition commands so I can have the target locked. I plan to delete the Israel SF version, as that is a theater I do not care for. I saw screenshots here of WWII planes. Is there a WWII SF version anywhere? I plan to uninstall all the versions above and make a fresh start—keep that in mind also and perhaps suggest a different order. I am also interested in US Navy ops with carriers, if they exist. Thanks, Nick
  16. Thank you Soulfreak. I will have a look at the knowledge base. Is there an F-104 anywhere? Nick
  17. Friends, I can't afford that patch for the moment. The financial crisis here has removed 60% of our income and things are bad. I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop recently and that put me back by 280 euros. However, I can fly fsx, fs9, and SF on it and I can now sit in the living room near the wife while flight-simming.and watch TV with one eye and fly with the other... I am still gettting to grips with a fresh install of 4 SF versions, after 3 installs and uninstalls and reinstalls. I tried to add a Mystere skin (CamoEC2-12Savigny.zip) and got things screwed up, reinstalled all 4 SFversions, and then I tried to add a Gloster Javelin (Javelin8&9.7z) and screwed up my games again and to reinstall all 4 again. I have SF2, SF Vitenam, SF Europe and SF Israel. If anyone can tell me htow to install the Javelin, I would be grateful. I am also looking for an EE :Lightning jet.Where would that be? And Spitfire, Hurricane, Me-109, P--51? Today I will map my joystick buttons and test results till I have them to my taste. I am still with one leg on the ground, or--as Wallace Stevens the poet put it so nicely--"I join the birds here for company, but at a distance, in another tree." Attached is a water-color retouched with gouache I made back in 2000 and which was published in a magazine here. This is a scan of the mag page, the article was on RAF pilots and I had written its text also. I also want to do repaints of aircraft, but I must first relearn where they go and what else is required. Wrench, the terrain you made looks good. Which version do I put it in? Cheers, Nick
  18. I have SF2E installed. Is the patch in it then and I do not need to download anything? Nick
  19. Nice screenshots, thank you Where can I find Thirdwire´s expansions pack 2? Is that freeware?
  20. Very useful--than you all. Now for those of you who like naval aviation, here you can download pdf issues of US NAVAL AVIATION NEWS, a magazine I have read since I was 14 (now I am 67): http://www.history.navy.mil/nan/backissues/1970s/1976/backissues1976.htm Those are from1976, but look for older ones too--they start around 1955. Nick Tselepides Athens, Greece.
  21. Yes, I am the same Nick Tselepides-- older but with soul refreshed. Thanks for your replies. Please give me a link for where you have you have moved my post to. I cannot find a Saved folder--where is it? , What is SF2:NA and where Can I get it? For which SF version are the Hunter and the Lightning? Thanks Nick
