HI I have a problem with one campaign(Six Days War for Hunter 59) All run fine to the last day, 10 June, then is impossible to close the campaign(Or accept the last flight , this day Jun 10, 1967). There, the game freeze and must alt-crtl-delete to exit of the Sim. Trying to find a solution, I have made a backup of the pilot and the campaign , then I have changed the date prolonged to the Jun 11, 1967. All OK, missions complete for Jun 10, 1967 but next day at the 11, again freeze after the first mission of this day(and the last of the campaing) . Nothing special in the sim, Israel Strike fighters(Not merged)and the only extra aircraft(no default)of the campaing is the MiG-15UTI and eventually the Ouragan. Thanks

Problem with the campaign-always last day
regula50 replied to regula50's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Umm. Is no aircraft related. I have try other campaign, same air force(IrAF) but another Squadron, the No. 17 with the MiG-21F-13 and I have same issue. That freeze as before last day(Jun 10) and at the last mission. Same campaign but with another squadron and with UARAF work perfect and not freeze. I think the problem is something to do with the country, Iraq, or eventually with H-3 Al Walid AB. -

regula50 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
HI: I have installed this terrain addon for a future campaign about the Iran-Iraq war(1980 to 1988)in several parts. Terrain is nice and bases ID for the IRIAF side are all OK and very clear. The problem is the IrAF and his bases. IrAF bases had sometimes several different names in published sources. I have finded this bases in the terrain and his ID: (Left name of the base- right name in the terrain addon) al-Bakr AB(Balad SE AB: al-Bakr AB Ali Bin Aboub Talib AB: Talil AB Firnas AB: Mosul AB(see note *) Hannaniyah AB: Habbaniyah AB Muthenna AB(Baghdad-Muthenna AB): Muthena AB Rasheed AB: Rasheed AB Qalat Sikar AB: Qal'at Sikar AB Shaykha Mazar AB(Salman Pak): Shayka Mazhar AB * In Mosul area they are two bases: al-Gayyar AB and Firnas AB They are eight important bases and I dont know wich are the names in the terrain addon: Al-hurriyah AB (Base of MiG-21(5th Sqn)and MiG-23s. Several times bombed)(This base is in Kirkuk area) Abu ubalda AB (Base of MiG-23BN of the 29th and 49th Sqn) Al-wihda AB(Shoaibah AB) (base of the IrAF 1th Sqn(FRS)and all V-VS MiG-25R/PD/RB and his cover of 36 MiG-21MF and MiG-23MS). Base of Mirage F.1EQ in times of Tankers war. al-Fatah AB Al-Gayyar AB (MiG-21MF base)(Mosul area) Qayyarah West AB (Main base of the Mirage F.1EQs)(MiG-23ML) Saddam AB(al-Qayyarah West) (Initial base of all Mirage F.1EQ, new base still under construction in 1980) Ubaydah Bin Al-jarrah AB(al-Jarrah AB)(Su-20/22,MiG-21 and MiG-23 base)(Southern Iraq) THanks -

Finded Al-wihda AB(Shoaibah AB)or Shaibah AB. In the terrain addon is Basra airport. al-Taqaddum is Tammuz AB near Habbaniya, base of the MiG-29 of the 6th Sqn in the times of Desert Storm. But now I dont find TFB.8 Khatami AB, the base of the IRIAF F-14A Tomcat(81TFS and 82TFS). -
Hi There are some way to edit the contact points, that mean to avoid aircraft landing gear wheels to sink under the ground? Is a pity, some nice aircrafts and the wheels sinking mostly so 20% in the ground. Also, I dont know exactly if this a problem related to the aircraft or the scenery(terrain). Terrain default and aircraft default, for example MiG-17F with Wings of Israel. With FS9 and FSX is possible to edit this type of data but SF2 had different type of parameters. Thanks

Fishbed tactics against fighters?
regula50 replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
30 rounds for the MiG-21F-13 is exact. About MiG-21FL, PF and PFM can utilise the GP-9 gunpod. Available from 1967 for the EAF and SyAAF but, that was not the standard and not all planes were wired for this dispositive. The gunpod also used the central pylon place, that mean gunpod or belly drop tank. With gunpod very short range. For use the GP-9, aiming over the target. About the R-3s Atoll, depend altitude. As say before, dont move and try to be with 0 G in launch. For launch a low altitude max 800-1000m, medium altitude 1800m max, high altitude 2.5km. -

In addendum to Gepard´s informations, in the whole Korean war all MiG-15s were based in Manchurie(China)airfields with only a very short exception: The first week of Nov 1951, the first North Korean regiment, the 447th start to operated from Uiju, in North Korea. The regiment used ex old MiG-15(RD-45F engines) from the 176th GvIAP and 196th IAP taked in charge on Oct 1951. After straffing by F-86s and strike by B-29s, all MiGs were rellocated to Antung by Nov 20, 1951. That was the only time of utilisation of a airfield in North Korean territory. The grass Rwy at Sinuiju airstrip was used very rarely and only for emergency refuelling by the MiGs. At the begining(Nov 1, 1950)Antung was still under construction and the MiGs operated from Anshan. The 29th GvIAP inagurated Antung as base on Dec 4, 1950. The date already coincide with all MiG operating only under North Korean Insignias(Including PLAAF)and the combat debut of the MiG-15bis. Insignias were not carried upperwing. By May 28, 1951 is inagurated the second base: Tatung-kao(Manpo or Myaogou for the Soviets). This base was very near of the sea and had a capacity max for four regiments, in general three V-VS and one PLAAF. The other main base(and the best equipped)was Fencheng(Dapu or Dabao for the Soviets). By Aug-Sep 1952 with the proliferations of Sabres waiting for MiGs in take off or landing for attack, Fencheng was the home of the cover and protection MiGs for the others airfields. -

Thanks Gocad. Apparently to this moment, the problem with the freezing in loadout and map screens was fixed with the Hotfix. I have flew three missions without freezing; however to confirmed today later. -

And by the boys of the other side of the street: 204th Kokutai with 38 A6M2 Model 21, A6M3 Model 22 and 32 "Hamp" (Kahili-Ballale) 201th Kokutai with 21 A6M2 Model 21, A6M3 Model 22 and 32 "Hamp" (Kahili-Tobera) 253th Kokutai with detachments at Tobera and Rabaul. 552th Kokutai with 15 D3A1/D3A2 at Kerevat. 582th Kokutai- A mix unit with some 12 A6M2/A6M3 and 15 Type 99 D3A1/D3A2(Kahili-Ballale) The 251th Kokutai(Ex Tainan Kokutai)was disbanded by July 1943 and his surviving effectives were transferred to the 204th. Quality of pilots of his kokutais was quite good, were actually the last reserves of high seasoned veterans of the IJN. Then, together with the loss of the Solomons was also the loss of most of his last skilled pilots and the situation deteriorated very fast with the IJN, with point final at the disaster of the Mariannes in Jun 1944. Production of the first A6M5 Model 52 by Mitsubishi started on early Aug 1943. Nakajima start to produce the Model 52 by Feb 1944. A few first A6M5 Model 52(KO)arrived at Rabaul by later sept 1943 but production of the improved model was slow and only 391 were produced by Apr 1, 1944 when production switched to the A6M5b Otsu. Nakajima close production of the old Model 21(1940)at the end of Feb 1944(2882 built)and switch direct to the Model 52. -

In theme Hellcats in he Solomons: Hellcats of the VF-33 were land based at Munda by Sep , 1943. The unit worked together in strikes against Ballale-Kahili with the well known VMF-214 of Boyington deployed near about the same time in the Solomons( the 214 was a based at Banika). The other Hellcats unit in the Solomons were the VF-38 and VF-40 also based at Munda. Already by Sept 9, things went quite bad over Ballalé and the Zeros downed four Hellcats and the squadron CO, Anderson was also loss . Campaigns : how do you shift from one offensive phase to the next one ?
regula50 replied to jeanba's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
The problem of a War of Attrition style campaign, apart type or targets, is the time. War of Attrition was a longuer periode, from March 8, 1969 to August 7, 1970. As example and utiling accurate numbers, if you fly with the UARAF each three days and in each mission you alone destroyed two Mirages, by July 1969 you have destroyed all Mirages of the three IDF/AF squadrons and the aerial oposition fall to near zero. In the same periode is possible that 105th Sqn with SMB.2 was reduced to zero, same for Mysteres of the 116th Sqn, Ouragans of the 113th and Vautours of the 110th. Must wait to Nov 1969 to be apparead the first F-4E Phantoms of the 69th Sqn and then to March 1970 for the Phantoms of the 201th. On hard or normal that make any big diference. Maybe one of the solution is to divided the Campaign time in periodes, as example Part 1 March to July 1969, Part 2 Aug 1969 to Dec 1969, etc. -

Yes, apparently(no 100 % sure)the 54th was the unit with the 15 Su-20s. By Jun 82 in the Lebanon War the Su-20s were with the 677th at Al Qusayr Airbase. -

Yes, the Red Crown is ok for Vietnam. That was the code for the ships actings as control in the Gulf of Tomkin. Other aircrafts in electronic observation over Laos also comunicated and reported with Red Crown. For Middle east that was by Israel a GCI by the times of the War of Attrition(March 1969). Also the UARAF/EAF had his GCI by 1970, a chaine of observers and a situation room, like the RAF in 1940. -

Vampire FB.52 jump several times in the first mission of campaign for Suez Crisis 1956(with Expansion Pack 1 for Strike Fighters 2 Israel). But that is a issue only in the first mission. After all is normal. Another point, the jet exploded when you park in sand revetments at the airfields like El Arish(not in hard revetments at the main bases like Abu Suwayr or Al Mansurah).
