You are right but international law is another thing that seems to be banded about conveniently to suit some - although it wasnt used as much before going into Iraqs internationally reconised borders I must admit . Russia not only has the green light from that incursion (after all if its okay for us to do it then it must be okay) - but if the SO population is majority Russian then they have full justification AFIACS to protect their people.

TrackIR 4 Pro
MigBuster replied to Sentry's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I could say RTFM here but: TIR4 was pretty much set up out of the box for me - but you need to test it out before starting the game. Open up Track IR and go to view->heads Use F-12 to calibrate / centre it - use F-12 when you load the game up also Then go to view -> tracking and see if there are any background light sources - if you have a window behind you even drawing the curtains will throw it out when the sun comes out. Try adjusting the light filter also Make sure you change the in game SFP1 keys F8 and F9 which are used by TIR also -
By what we know Georgias actions are not acceptable - did Argentina have to right to invade the Falklands militarily against the will of a resident UK population? - NO Every government is corrupt and every government has its own agenders - for example how did George Bush keep a straight face when he told Russia not to invade a sovereign country? From what I can see Russia is protecting its own people and is in the right. (as long as it stays in SO) Although provoked by the SO rebels - no excuse for launching an offensive and shooting at peacekeepers etc! - at the moment I would say the Georgian president is not fit to be in office - is he a puppet or a muppet - i cant decide!
-
If we are going to speculate on what might happen - the immediate question is - would Russia actually invade Georgia? - or would they go in and get rid of that government that has attacked their allies in SO - then restore their own favoured government into Georgia? After Chechnya im thinking they will just cripple the Georgian military as much as possible by air and invade SO only. They are saying that Georgia has officially declared a state of war for 15 days - yet Russia hasnt - whats going on there? As for Oil theories - well theres plenty of Oil near the Falkland Islands also apparently.

In Europes case I think its more about Gas exported from Russia which is also why we probably wont intervene (with any luck) from bbc (lol) "So expect plenty of calls for restraint and ceasefire from the West, but don't expect much else - after all America needs Russian co-operation on more pressing issues like North Korea and other members of the Western alliance like Germany will hardly be anxious for a confrontation with a country that supplies much of their energy needs. You don't start a military showdown with someone who can turn the gas off. "

WOI Mods...which are compatible?
MigBuster replied to JG14_Jagr's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The stock pits disappear ? havnt seen that - have you reported that to TK? -
As ever we know FA - but the BBC say today: Georgian president has declared a state of war and is recalling its troops from Afghanistan. Russian jets are taking out georgian strategic and military targets in Georgia (kinda expect this) - bbc are reporting it though because an apartment block has been accidentally hit Georgia claim to have shot down 10 Russian jets Russia admit that 2 have been shot down Western countries really dont want to see this escalate - although its unlikely that NATO would be stupid enough to back Georgia militarily (I hope) This could cause energy problems for Europe if it goes much further - or just be an excuse to put petrol up even further more like - amazing how we care more about the price of petrol really! Isnt there anything else on the other channel btw

Engines for one thing - F-14A had underpowered engines (for the airframe) that compressor stalled under some situations - remember reading (not sure how true) that the first Naval female F-14 pilot stalled her F-14A coming into land - and ejected upside down into the sea (killed) - the GIB got out okay though. -

Super Hornet G Limit question
MigBuster replied to deyv's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well if Falcon is as accurate as they say then the F-16 has a little CAT switch that dampens the handling (makes it sluggish ) of the A/C thus making it much harder to get above Gs that would damage it. For example if carrying any stores other than missiles on the wings you set the switch to catIII - and you will get a continuous warning until you do - so this is defo a way of limiting what you can actually pull (if accurate) Then when you have dropped your bombs (or at an acceptable weight ) then you will be warned to switch back to cat1 - which gives you full dogfight responsibility and agility -
Heavily armed robots that sound gay - welcome to the world of tommorow - or not

Super Hornet G Limit question
MigBuster replied to deyv's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
[flight control] determines more to do with how the AI handles the jet (I think) The airframe is given a rating - this doesn't mean a jet is completely limited to this - although going over this rating for a length of time will damage the airframe it seems. Did the pilot say this was a sustained 9G turn for any length of time? - also i'm not really sure you can tell a jet is pulling 9G by just looking at it. no idea what the F-18E/F models are rated to - pretty sure the FA-18A/C models were 7.5 - 8G according to a test pilot we have on here. -
But then again why are we allowing NATO to expand into territories they agreed they wouldnt (AFAIK) - does EU membership mean they have to join NATO? France hasnt been part of NATO for most of its history - there is no good reason we have to see how far Russia will be pushed - because they obviously are not happy. I really dont want to be part of pissing off one of the few countries that can wipe the face of the earth clean in 30 mins - if thats okay!

Surely the only UAV that would replace an F-22 would be the kind of fantasy depicted in the film Stealth - a fully autonomous robot with no dependency on a wireless link using part of the electromagnetic spectrum that can easily be jammed be any half developed nation. Only studied AI for a year so not exactly an expert but it seems to be a complete mash of different research techniques at the mo - several experienced researchers constantly put down ever getting to the likes of things you see in I robot etc maybe this...maybe that...maybe quantum computing (good luck there btw we havn't mastered simple binary comp systems fully :beta1: ) guess only time will tell

Photo Realistic Terrain for Cambrai
MigBuster replied to OlPaint01's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Can we just clarify here - you are trying to put tiles from Edwards Flanders terrain - into the stock EP1 wwicambrai The wwiCambrai folder is in a new format compared to previous terrains due to the seasons being added Open up wwwiCambrai.ini and you will see it makes reference to the snow/fall/spring Directories: [season001] Directory=Snow StartDate=1/1 EndDate=1/27 ScatteredChance=0 BrokenChance=40 OvercastChance=50 InclementChance=10 [season002] Directory=Spring StartDate=01/28 EndDate=06/21 ......... etc Dont put anything into these folders unless it specifically states it can be used with them - if anything you need a set of tiles in a subfolder exactly how they are in say "Fall" and maybe the tod files would go in the main wwicambrai folder - but am guessing here tbh Potentially you could rename the "snow" folder to snow_OLD then create a new "snow" folder with the files from the terrain you want to add in - making sure they have exactly the same names and are of the same type as whats in the the original snow folder. -
Mutual thought throughout the UK I bet - the person who was keeping our ideas has probably just deleted the folder they were in

Hard or Easy aircraft...
MigBuster replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A-10 is almost in the F-15/16 category for WOE easyness as you say - your main enemy in stock campaigns is forgetting to put wing leveler on before making a cuppa :) - also the 2 AIM-9Ls it has mean death to all AI jets. I have done quite a few Hunter campaigns in the past - mainly because it is a more interesting challenge - in WOE stock campaign you tend to get out numbered, and its range is poor/ poor weps load/no power - often have to start running early due to fuel - thats before you realise that you are totally outclassed by the Mig-17F - and you can be caught out! - My squadron suffer very badly in Hunters - CAS isnt that much fun either tbh -
Can you confirm that this does not help you?? http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthr...ht=black+screen

So what do you fly?
MigBuster replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Prefer things that cause pain to just fly at the mo : WOV F-104C + 2 x AIM-9Bs, A-1H/J, A-4B F-5A/C/E challenge in A-G but not in A-A - even had to jammy the F-5E flight model into the A/Cs to retrict their flip over manouverability. WOE F-104A/A-19/C/G, Hunter guns only Least used are the F-15/F-16 - too easy even after a major soviet AA missile overhaul -
This was actually a few threads down - get in the habit of searching forums - you will find most of your answers that way no video link

Photo Realistic Terrain for Cambrai
MigBuster replied to OlPaint01's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I will look when I get back - but to simulate seasons im pretty sure you actually need a full terrain for each season - so for example if someone released a new version of winter then you would put those files into the Winter folder only - the other seasons would not need to be changed and would stay the same until someone did a newer version of them (hope u r getting this) Basically (i think) you only actually have 1 terrain with edwards set - and that would probably be summer if anything - just BACK UP the summer folder and take a look in there - i think you could just drop the files in there - but as i say am just guessing at the mo. -

A Red square is your current target - press T to target air, or E to target ground targets - this is nothing to do with radar - the yellow box signifies a radar locked target - so you can radar lock a jet you have already targeted - they are separate things. When you target something it will allow you to padlock it, get info on the hud, fire/ drop guided missiles/bombs and mainly so you can see the jet or ground target. basic iff - lock up with radar as normal - then press ctrl and R by default - this will target the jet also.
