OT for this bit only: Plenty about it - I think only the B-52 has a longer loiter time than a B-1 - could be wrong - the A-10 / AH-64 are no where near a B-1s loiter time or weapons load and I bet the B-1 is still accurate with delivery. http://www.defencetalk.com/news/publish/ai...nd100016018.php

They are claiming that Georgian troops are still in SO - but no body knows - there are still reports of heavy fighting. They showed pics of Georgia pulling heavy Artillery out of SO - why was it even in there in the first place? - did they expect to win a full scale ground war against Russia???
-
Well - in military conflict if you want to win you use everything you have to minimise the losses on your side - and overwhelming force is a must if you have it. Do you realise we are using B-1s for CAS against the Taliban? In 2003 Iraqs AF was buried underground but we didnt say - "okay to make it a bit fairer Saddam we will keep our jets at home btw"

There are so many papers and articles written on the legality of the Iraqi war - and the government over here completely fell apart over it. Hussein had to be taken out IMO for regional stability - Iran war and attacking his own people (Kurds) in Northern Iraq - but I am unclear whether there was any actual full international legal justification allowing a full scale invasion. regardless its over and done with now - however it does raise the point that if this Mikhail Saakashvili classes South Essetia as part of Georgia why did he launch a ground and air attack that was sure to kill his own civies? Judge for yourself - shouldnt be in power IMO: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7551753.stm

I expect they will try to push back the Georgian Military as far as they can from the border and continue to launch airstrikes on Military targets - nothing short of what we would do tbh. If the Georgian military really was stupid enough to attack Russian peacekeepers (and their own some reports say) then they deserve every thing they get. BBc are putting reports in from both sides: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7552323.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7552358.stm NATO have probably done all they can to intervene politically - so will just have to sit back now and hope for the best

If you click on the settings button what do you have there? Ideally you need to have the receiver centered so you can turn your head evenly both ways When i pitch up (head back) the dots don't go right to the top What does view->Heads show? Make sure the receiver doesnt have an orange light on it If still not working - check if there is a later version of the software/drivers you can use at NP - uninstall then reinstall it - making sure to install it in the correct order. -
Sorry you are misreading me - the bit in brackets is semi sarcastic - I'm basically saying that International law and recognised boundaries are not absolute - and are manipulated depending on who it is objecting to them or challenging them. Russia will do what it likes in there - or whatever is in their best interests - no one can really do much if they want to stay there either - and no one is really condeming them either because they see the situation is not straight forward. They have sent a NATO envoy to Russia I see - do you think they will be on Georgias side 100% by any chance?

Does anybody know what type of rack would have been used to dual or triple mount LAU-10A zuni rocket pods on an F-5? -

Brilliant - many thanks for that suhsjake -
well there goes that thread then - Muesli can you keep OT mate and stop taking things literally - I dont think English is his first language - maybe he meant that NATO membership would be denied to such people who launch such an offensive on civies?

The trackIR receiver which is probably atop your monitor needs to see the silver reflecting stickers on the clip - so line it up as much as possible If you go to View->Tracking you should see 3 green splodges that move when you move your head. If you see more than the 3 reflections from the clip then there are light sources behind you you need to get rid of or filter out - otherwise it may not work properly. -
You are right but international law is another thing that seems to be banded about conveniently to suit some - although it wasnt used as much before going into Iraqs internationally reconised borders I must admit . Russia not only has the green light from that incursion (after all if its okay for us to do it then it must be okay) - but if the SO population is majority Russian then they have full justification AFIACS to protect their people.

I could say RTFM here but: TIR4 was pretty much set up out of the box for me - but you need to test it out before starting the game. Open up Track IR and go to view->heads Use F-12 to calibrate / centre it - use F-12 when you load the game up also Then go to view -> tracking and see if there are any background light sources - if you have a window behind you even drawing the curtains will throw it out when the sun comes out. Try adjusting the light filter also Make sure you change the in game SFP1 keys F8 and F9 which are used by TIR also -
By what we know Georgias actions are not acceptable - did Argentina have to right to invade the Falklands militarily against the will of a resident UK population? - NO Every government is corrupt and every government has its own agenders - for example how did George Bush keep a straight face when he told Russia not to invade a sovereign country? From what I can see Russia is protecting its own people and is in the right. (as long as it stays in SO) Although provoked by the SO rebels - no excuse for launching an offensive and shooting at peacekeepers etc! - at the moment I would say the Georgian president is not fit to be in office - is he a puppet or a muppet - i cant decide!
-
If we are going to speculate on what might happen - the immediate question is - would Russia actually invade Georgia? - or would they go in and get rid of that government that has attacked their allies in SO - then restore their own favoured government into Georgia? After Chechnya im thinking they will just cripple the Georgian military as much as possible by air and invade SO only. They are saying that Georgia has officially declared a state of war for 15 days - yet Russia hasnt - whats going on there? As for Oil theories - well theres plenty of Oil near the Falkland Islands also apparently.
-
In Europes case I think its more about Gas exported from Russia which is also why we probably wont intervene (with any luck) from bbc (lol) "So expect plenty of calls for restraint and ceasefire from the West, but don't expect much else - after all America needs Russian co-operation on more pressing issues like North Korea and other members of the Western alliance like Germany will hardly be anxious for a confrontation with a country that supplies much of their energy needs. You don't start a military showdown with someone who can turn the gas off. "

The stock pits disappear ? havnt seen that - have you reported that to TK? -
As ever we know FA - but the BBC say today: Georgian president has declared a state of war and is recalling its troops from Afghanistan. Russian jets are taking out georgian strategic and military targets in Georgia (kinda expect this) - bbc are reporting it though because an apartment block has been accidentally hit Georgia claim to have shot down 10 Russian jets Russia admit that 2 have been shot down Western countries really dont want to see this escalate - although its unlikely that NATO would be stupid enough to back Georgia militarily (I hope) This could cause energy problems for Europe if it goes much further - or just be an excuse to put petrol up even further more like - amazing how we care more about the price of petrol really! Isnt there anything else on the other channel btw

Engines for one thing - F-14A had underpowered engines (for the airframe) that compressor stalled under some situations - remember reading (not sure how true) that the first Naval female F-14 pilot stalled her F-14A coming into land - and ejected upside down into the sea (killed) - the GIB got out okay though. -

Super Hornet G Limit question
MigBuster replied to deyv's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well if Falcon is as accurate as they say then the F-16 has a little CAT switch that dampens the handling (makes it sluggish ) of the A/C thus making it much harder to get above Gs that would damage it. For example if carrying any stores other than missiles on the wings you set the switch to catIII - and you will get a continuous warning until you do - so this is defo a way of limiting what you can actually pull (if accurate) Then when you have dropped your bombs (or at an acceptable weight ) then you will be warned to switch back to cat1 - which gives you full dogfight responsibility and agility -
Heavily armed robots that sound gay - welcome to the world of tommorow - or not

Super Hornet G Limit question
MigBuster replied to deyv's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
[flight control] determines more to do with how the AI handles the jet (I think) The airframe is given a rating - this doesn't mean a jet is completely limited to this - although going over this rating for a length of time will damage the airframe it seems. Did the pilot say this was a sustained 9G turn for any length of time? - also i'm not really sure you can tell a jet is pulling 9G by just looking at it. no idea what the F-18E/F models are rated to - pretty sure the FA-18A/C models were 7.5 - 8G according to a test pilot we have on here. -
But then again why are we allowing NATO to expand into territories they agreed they wouldnt (AFAIK) - does EU membership mean they have to join NATO? France hasnt been part of NATO for most of its history - there is no good reason we have to see how far Russia will be pushed - because they obviously are not happy. I really dont want to be part of pissing off one of the few countries that can wipe the face of the earth clean in 30 mins - if thats okay!
